Play Defiance Now and Check Out The Launch Trailer

Trion World’s open-world action-shooter Defiance is, at last, out of beta testing and into the wild, now playable on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Defiance lets you explore an alien-infested San Francisco Bay Area as an Ark Hunter, gathering highly sought-after alien technology and taking out anything that stands in your way. Best of all, you can easily join up with your friends, or battle against them in Defiance’s gigantic open-world, ripe with opportunities to adventure and explore.

To learn more about Defiance, check out the official website and have a peek at the launch trailer below.

As with any launch of an MMO/Open-Work game like Defiance, things will seem a tad shaky at first. Trion Worlds has posted a number of issues they are currently looking into to make your journey as smooth and fulfilling as possible.

Trion Worlds writes in a recent blog entry, “This first day of launch of Defiance, a PC-PS3-XBOX360-massively-online-tv-show-connected-third-person-open-world-shooter, has been as awesome as we expected it to be. And by awesome, I mean we’re neck deep addressing all the issues that come up when you scale something up to a million people from a test environment of thousands.”

  • Connectivity – Being able to connect, patch and play. This has a number of things that can be plaguing you depending on platform and what version of the game you have. We’re on it like a shark during winter solstice.
  • Pre-order items – WHERE ARE THEY?!?!? We have a number of cases where they aren’t being delivered to you. We know. They haven’t disappeared nor will they. They might pop up suddenly over the next hours, the next time you log on or tomorrow.
  • Bosses and Arkfalls – They might be very difficult as they scale and the rewards not in any sane correlation to what they should be, being this difficult. You’re right, it’s not right. On it.
  • Chat and VOIP – This isn’t broken, we just believe people should use their psychic abilities more. Can you hear what I’m saying to you right now? Yes, exactly. We’re working on it.

How has your Ark hunting experience been so far? Any thoughts on the game you’d like to share?

Any opinions on this game? Is it worth picking up on the 360? Is it any good at all?

    • jameslara

      You will get mixed reaction.
Personally from playing the Beta I loved it, but I know many who didn’t XD.

We are in a gaming drought though for all this month.

I played the PC beta but had horrible lag and basically couldn’t move once I got out of the beginner tutorial instance, so I don’t know what to think.

Did you play PC or console? Is the console version any good?

        • DarthDiggler

I played on PS3 and I was pretty impressed with the netcode, overall game performance was above satisfactory, although VOIP was borked (seems to be the case with all online games these days).

It’s basically Borderlands with a Warhawk point of view. Lots of area to explore and the arkfall events are pretty cool. Overall the stuff that matters (gameplay) works although it could use some improvement there. Some of the missions are boring, but some were actually lots of fun especially when you group up.

Its a great social shooter, being like borderlands but having lots of other players around is fairly unique.

It’s worth buying if you like MMO-style games or borderlands.

Personally i would stay away from console version. Because on console version you not getting the full massively multiplayer experience on console. Also console version always get less of support than PC version and now console at the end of them life recycle.

I’ve play beta for 360 for only two hour. it fell like to me least 360 version is not very far long then PC version.

For the PC version, you not need a gaming computer to play it. i only have Intel i5-430m, NVIDIA GeForce 310m, 4 GB RAM on my laptop and defiance played not too bad on my laptop least for me.

FYI, i’m saving up for a gaming computer and i can play BF 4 on it.

Actually it seems to be running OK on the consoles. From what I understand this game does lots of stuff in the cloud.

An MMO on console will die out very quickly.

          • DarthDiggler

@twitter-260375795:disqus Final Fantasy 11 had a pretty long run. DC Universe Online is still going 2+ years later. Not really enough MMOs on the consoles to even have enough data to support what you are saying.

The facts don’t support your claims and speculation. So far the MMOs that have appeared on Consoles have seen some success.

@David Vesalka Why so sad in your pic man? :) You have a great website here smile about it!

  • Jason

You know what really grinds my gears? Is when they show a Trailer for a FPS and I don’t get to see any actual Hud gameplay, just Sequences :(

    • MegaMan3k

From what I played, Defiance isn’t an FPS.

      • Jason

        LOL FACEPALM! My bad :(

  • HighBob

We need trial version for this :/
