Battlefield 4 Exclusive Beta Now Live on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Digital Illusions CE and Electronic Arts have officially launched the exclusive Battlefield 4 beta for users with early access privileges.

Should you be a member of Battlefield 3 Premium, an owner of a Battlefield 4 PC Digital Deluxe Edition pre-order, or an owner of Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition, you fall into the early access category and will be able to download the beta on the platform to which your early access privileges are tied.

The beta is currently available for download on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – for the most part. At the time of writing, some users on the PlayStation 3, maybe even the Xbox 360, may still be awaiting their turn to download the beta, as DICE notes it is gradually being released across the globe.

Here’s how to find the beta.

  • Origin: Check the My Games tab if you’re in the closed beta. To find the Open Beta, search for Battlefield 4.
  • Xbox LIVE: Find Battlefield 4 in the Featured section.
  • PlayStation Network: search for Battlefield4  Store

Along with the beta, users can also check out the newly updated Battlelog 2.0, now available on iOS and Android devices.

Before hopping in, be sure to read up on everything you need to know about the beta right here, and bookmark the official Battlefield 4 Forums where you’ll be able to provide valuable feedback throughout the process. It might also be a good idea to follow @Battlefield on Twitter for timely updates, as server outages will be expected.

Remember, the public will be able to join in on the action this Friday, October 4, when the Battlefield 4 beta becomes open to all.

Battlefield 4 launches October 29 on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, November 12 on the PlayStation 4 and November 19 on the Xbox One.

Do anyone know how to send invites on the ps3?? not sure if xbox360 users can’t send invites either…

    • Marcin Kubica

I don’t think there are lobbies. But when you are in the game go to XMB find your mate and you can invite from there.

      • TommyBoy

        No it doesn’t work.

        • Marcin Kubica

You have to be on the server first. Works for me.

          • TommyBoy

Ah, i see! I’ll try it later ;)

  • sugarjungle

can’t find it on the NA ps3 store yet :(

    • paulinacio

its only Available on the EU store. Go to Demos> Genre/shooter. Some say you can go to the BF4 Pre-order and it shows up but cant confirm this since I’m waiting for US Store to update =/

    • Izzo

Same here! I can see the full game purchase option.
I even went to Betas section in the menu, not there.
Oh well, they’re probably pushing it out by region.

  • CoDforever

Hows it on ps3 ? any better than bf3 ?

    • Joseph

I’ve been told it looks like shit because it’s lacking texture packs..can’t try it for myself but it’s what I’ve been told.

    • Joseph

But they encountered no glitches if that’s what you mean, so definitely playable just not pretty to look at.:P

    • TommyBoy

It’s about the same on this generation, i personally think it looks great considering that it’s a beta, people doesn’t take that in to the consideration when they say “It sucks”, but there’s a lot of new stuff and fun features too, plus it has the Levolution.

    • Ricardo

You don’t even like Battlefield get out.

  • Mohammad Nassir

The problem is : I CAN’T FIND IT IN THE STORE .. Where the hell is the beta ?!!

  • SuchSimplicity

It’s not up on PS3 in North America yet. Won’t be until at least 3PM PST, 6PM EST. At least, that’s what everyone’s saying. It should be available in most parts of Europe, though.

    • ROCKMONEY

It should be in the NA Playstation Store around 6-7pm since that is when they usually update it.

  • jaskdavis

Downloaded it before I left for work on 360, has anyone played it?

    • Jerry Kehr

Servers have been down for last 2 hours. I actually got into one but I was by myself.

  • paulinacio

waiting impatiently for US PSN Store to update

  • John S

People are complaining everywhere of the same shit about BF3 beta. It is a beta you retards and old ass code at that. It astounds me how stupid the majority of gamers are now.

DICE can plainly put on your forehead this is not the final game and only meant to test servers and stability. Still you got millions of people who are so stupid they think they are playing the final version. Wake The Fuck Up.

    • TommyBoy

      People are fucking idiots.

    • Ryan M. Bonk

I know, people are so dumb.

    • CoDisaFish

right when can they realize that they’re playing a “BETA”

    • James Mulhall

You know, while I agree, it is a beta.

DICE shouldn’t be having problems off a game which is basically built off of BF3.

      • Raymond Featherston

Just because it is built off BF3 does not mean it shouldn’t have problems. No matter how good something is or what it is built off of it will have problems, nothing is perfect especially games in a BETA stage.

  • Will Hamlett

Yea my problem is it’s not there…wtf. I have the premium and moh and I can’t find this thing anywhere?

    • paulinacio

ps3 or xbox?? US or EU??

      • Will Hamlett

Xbox, I got a message about it but it’s not showing up for download when I pop in bf 3 or medal of honor

        • paulinacio

you just need to have BF3 Premium linked to the account you are downloading it from

  • mechcell

In PC Beta , We experiencing massive frame lag and frame drops constantly.

  • Jerry Kehr

If you cant find it on xbox. This worked for me

  • WomenAreStupid

I’ve been downloading the Beta for almost 4 hours, and I’m at 20 fucking percent. I don’t have the best net in the world, but I’ve downloaded DLCs and so on in a few minutes earlier, so what the hell is going on?

  • MC-ARNIE

My thought’s? ……… Awful! Spent 15 minutes on the PS3 beta and it looks/feels/sounds worse than B3, which for me was also worse than BC2. Plus Shangai is a terribly designed map in my opinion.

    • ANTHONYxSOPRANO

omg its a beta, wtf is wrong with people. The world is full of fucking morons, god help us all

      • MC-ARNIE

Yes all that from 15 minutes. Suppose the 2500+ hours ive put into the Battlefield series testing and gaming doesn’t count towards having half an idea what I’m going onabout?

        • ANTHONYxSOPRANO

no it does not matter because its a BETA!!!!!! Yes it looks like shit but its a BETA!!! God

        • Warlon

Not if those 2500+ hours are on console.

    • Archangel341

dude, its just a beta, not even the full game

      • MC-ARNIE

Very true but believe me when I say what ive played and seen on all formats is not good. Too much flashing lights and whistles to attract a new younger audience, the whole core of what battlefield “was” has long gone. And that really f*cks me off! You know who’s fault that is? Begins with E and ends with A!

    • John S

BETA. Please look up definition somewhere. here it is.

      Open Beta
An open beta is available to anyone who wants to play the game. Developers will usually loosen or remove NDAs and feedback requirements during an open beta, as the developer is now confident enough about the game to give to the public at large. Open betas for computer games are often used for games where players have to connect to a central server, as the flood of people playing the game is a great way to test how the software and hardware will handle large data loads. Once the open beta finishes, the game should be ready for release.

      Beta Test Issues and Concerns
A game’s beta test does not always go smoothly, as developers face numerous issues surrounding a game’s release. Rigid development schedules can sometimes lead to beta tests that do not include all of the potential game features. Add important game features at the end, or after, the beta test gives the developers little time to receive feedback and make changes, which can lead to untested features making it into the actual game release. On the other end of the spectrum, some game developers will release a game in an open beta, and then stop developing it. They use the term “beta” to get around having to fix any major issues that arise, as users shouldn’t expect a perfect experience in a beta game.

      • MC-ARNIE

Nice copy and paste there. Check my previous reply.

  • Justin Mckay

Cant connect to any server same with gta online this days been really disappointing :(

  • Warlon

Played the beta at launch for a few hours.
Pros – Easier to navigate Interface, Audio and Visual improvements, Infantry Hit Registration, Tank Movement/Tank Hit Detection, Helecopter physics and hydra missles are great vs other choppers. Water Combat is vastly improved. Infantry feels a lot more solid, almost to CoD/BF2 standards.

Neg- Some objects are clunky and hard to navigate around while you have boots on the ground, Elevators show you in random places while you “teleport up” Nvidia users report micro stutters. The rpg shoots at a higher arc angle than it use to :(

It is playable on ultra, but can drop to low frames with large explosions/buildings falling down. Specs- 4770k 4.4Ghz, HD7970,8GB 1600Mhz 9-9-9, Samsung 840 250Gb.

    • Gannon

Nice. I haven’t been able to play it yet. But I hope all those pros you listed are accurate. The UI improvements and solid infantry feel make me especially excited to try it out.

      • Warlon

Also, the sun doesn’t blind you and you can actually read the minimap.

        • Gannon

Minimap is good news. That needed some work. And I know a lot of people complained about the sun, but I guess personally I never minded. Kinda seems like it should suck to look directly at the sun. Kinda like real life hah.

    • oofy

To quote Snoop Dogg, “Guess who’s back in the m__________ house!” lol

  • paulinacio

    Beta now LIVE for PS3 US/NA =)

  • Ricardo

You should make an update about this because a lot of people can’t even download it the beta on the 360 marketplace.

    • paulinacio

People are having to set the region to UK on 360 just to download it =/ BF4 Beta for PS3 is now live for US and EU

  • Ricardo

BTW this is a BETA! The reasons the servers suck is just that it’s a BETA to see how the game runs and how the servers are just for a moment like this where gamers think there playing the final version have patience geez guys it’s free to play you should be thankful that we at least get this instead of being angry cause you can’t find a game on something that’s based around testing the servers.

  • Craig Barlettani

I wonder if they’ll release any patches for the beta on pc.. or just wait for a day one patch

    • oofy

If I remember correctly, the did some minor server side patches for the Bf3 beta, but nothing major.

  • Gannon

Let it be known that I am aware that this is a beta, and what beta means.
What I’ve noticed so far tho is that the helis almost seem overpowered. At least with the controls. Theyre are so precise and easy and make the heli amazingly agile. Also the sniper seems very CoD-like? Just the feel of it kinda and that you have the bullet trail. Not sure if its good or bad. But I love the solid feel of the infantry. No more gun flying everywhere just to make a 90 degree turn. Again, almost CoD-like, but definitely good IMO. The UI is way nicer though. Love that. I also found it interesting that the infantry controls are automatically set to CoDs as well. All in all it seems awesome so far tho.

  • sugarjungle

why the hell did they take out some of the control schemes i always used the one with crouch on the r2. after 2 years of playing the same way its just mean for them to take it out
