  • That guy you might know

    Just for Xbox One?
    And so it begins…..

    • Joey Marcelo Asturias

MS has the $$ so why not??

      • That guy you might know

It’s the fact that they’re buying their way in to have a FPS market and audience. Only a few games that are being shown off aren’t involving shooting things.

I wouldn’t mind if they were going across different genres, but they seem to think shooting games are the only kind out there.
They just show a lack of diversity right now.

        • Joey Marcelo Asturias

100% agree with you but it’s all business, if it were an MAO or RIG game that was as big as either By COD then they would be right on that sh*t.

          • That guy you might know

            Business is the worst
CoD is the last game they should be tossing money at anyway, they’ll benefit so much more from EA

            • Joey Marcelo Asturias

Cod has been breaking records ever year so it’s a smart play on MS’ part

            • That guy you might know

              It’ll last for so long

Unless CoD actually brings something that literal changes the entire FPS genre, they’ll fall behind so badly.

            • CoDforever

Mario has been the same for decades, i dont think it will ever fail LOL

            • That guy you might know

As long as Nintendo is still going they won’t have to change a thing

            • CoDforever

              Same thing with Activision/CoD ?

            • That guy you might know

No, only because Nintendo fans aren’t in such high demand with Mario. If they made games on a yearly basis then lots of change would be required constantly.

Any other series is gonna need something big to draw people in, just wait until next year when Ubisoft brings out another AC.

Yearly releases can dig gaming companies into holes, CoD is just the only game that has been avoiding said hole

            • CoDforever

Nintendo makes like 50 mario games a year

            • That guy you might know

Ranging from sports to platformers, they managed to take a character and branch it out to different genres.

              Party games
              Racing
              Sports
              Platformers
              Even fighting

They even manage to bring new things to each of those games. So they’re fine.

CoD is just FPS so they can’t do that much.

            • CoDforever

Yea but the platforming, racing games are basically the same thing as their prequels

            • That guy you might know

Have you seen how much they add to them every time?
The gameplay is the same but they add a lot to it each release

            • CoDforever

isnt that what cod does ?

            • That guy you might know

              Yes and no.

No, because they release a game every year, which means once the first game they start on the next.

Mario uses the same mechanics and occasional maps, but look at the last major Mario game and look at the newest one coming out soon. Huge difference

I would go into more detail but I’m at work. I’ll finish the rest later

            • Raymond Featherston

You say that most platformers of one type (EX: Mario, Sonic ect) are the same, but Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Bros are not even remotely close to being the same aside from genre.

Heck there were even a lot of differences between Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure Battle 2, so from my experience more things are changed in these than what is changed in CoD with its yearly release schedule. Maybe if they didn’t release one every year people would expect more, but at this point we know nothing much is going to change and it was kind of sad that Treyarch made a big deal about “Pick 10″ when most everybody ended up with a classic esque class structure. Point being the largest change they have made wasn’t even that large of a change, and your insistence that all platformers are the similar but not all CoD titles are not seems off, maybe it is because you don’t play platformers or that you are just that blindly loyal to CoD.

            • Raymond Featherston

Ummmm most of the Mario games released are the same game called something else on a different platform (such as the 3DS version of Super Mario Brothers), so to say they release 50 a year is nowhere near right.

            • CoDforever

FIFA’s been the same thing for such a long time .. yet its so successful and highly praised at the same time

            • That guy you might know

Well I don’t play sports games often but that argument is less than valid.

Unless they change rules in the actual sport you can only change rosters, stats, mechanics, and physics

            • CoDforever

If you can change so little every year, why release a full fledged game every year ? why not just a paid update to the current game ?

            • That guy you might know

They still do stuff with the engine, the roster does get update through the seasons and stats are updated frequently.

            • CoDforever

Yea, thats the only time when they should make a new game: Major change or major upgrade, not every fukin year with barely any change

            • teo2cry

Now GTA broke all of them.

        • avi

          so?
sony does the same with ubisoft and with activision regarding destiny and the batman games.

this is the same case, I see nothing wrong with that.

          • Raymond Featherston

Yeah but not all the games Sony tries to get advantages are are in the same genre. It seems that MS focuses about 85% of it’s money on FPS’s, and they seem to neglect for the most part every other genre.

It is not the pioneering he seems to have the problem with, but to me from reading his comments I believe his issue is MS’s lack of diversity when it comes to what games they try to exclusively support. Shooters are not the only type of game out there, but apparently MS (for the most part) does not understand this.

            • That guy you might know

              Exactly. they aren’t branching out.
Sony is out popping MMO’s, RPGs, platformers, and a few shooters of there own.

Ms has a few others but driving everyone towards shooters. The demonstration video of their controller was 90% shooter .

            • Raymond Featherston

Heck the only high quality MS RPGs I can think of is Fable, Fable 2, and Fable 3. There are no MMO’s that come to mind, I can’t think of any MS exclusive non indy platformers. However lets name the shooters: Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo 4, Halo Reach, all the Gears of War games, plus they get content early for CoD and now for BF. It is quite obvious that they mainly focus on shooters, especially with the thing you said about them pretty much designing the Xbone controller around shooters.

            • That guy you might know

This may sound crazy but go into a Toys-R-Us

Gears of War and Halo toys

              No bullshit

            • Allstar Taee

Dragons dogma, Dragon Age origins, Kingdoms of amalur, lord of the rings conquest…thats just for consoles..

            • That guy you might know

Dragon’s Dogma was definitely with both systems.
I had the original version and I own the Dark Arisen expansion.

            • JohnD

Yep if you want 100,s of mindless shooting games go to Xbox. If you want creativity and original games go to Playstation.

            • Markdg23

So I take it your a tree hugger?

            • JohnD

              OK?

            • Allstar Taee

              lol

            • Allstar Taee

lol that’s total BS. Xbox is as versatile as PS3. its all on the owner. I have a two friends, 1, does not play FPS, says its pointless, his opinion. while I have another who exactly like me who plays nothing BUT FPS and he owns a PS3…freekin COD whore. either way..its all on how the console is used.

            • RoderickVI

Its cause 9 out of 10 games are shooters, either 3rd person or 1st. Sony only has 2 non shooters announced: Knack and their MMO.

Microsoft has: Ryse, Zoo Tycoon and the Kinect Games(more than 4). I see Microsoft having the advantage here

            • Raymond Featherston

I wasn’t just referring to the new consoles, I was looking at the entire track record of both companies starting with the PS2 and original Xbox, and in the case Sony has more non-shooters.

            • RoderickVI

Yeah, but what are these games, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Daxter, Journey, and a few japanesse titles, plus no dlc exclusivity on multiplatforms. I bought all those games on my psp. so I think both are on par

            • Raymond Featherston

Sly Cooper, all the Final Fantasy games that were exclusive to the PS2, the list goes on.

You seem to think that I am arguing that Sony is better, but I am not what I am arguing is that MS seems to devote the majority of their attention on shooters while not paying a whole lot of attention to other genres. I think both do a great job at their respective market, MS with their shooters and Sony with their action adventure and fighting games (and Nintendo with their platformers). Just to be clear any games that can be played on PSP exclusively also count for my statement as they are still Sony exclusive, them being on a handheld does not change this.

MS has a lot of DLC exclusivity, but most of said exclusive DLC is for shooters while only a couple other games have been supported to such a degree by MS (like Skyrim). This only supports my statement about MS MOSTLY focusing on shooters. Not that it is a bad thing as for the people who mainly play shooters it is not, but for me as a huge RPG and fighting game player it is.

            • RoderickVI

I get what you mean, but for me a huge RPG fan and good story action adventures I prefer Xbox for the exclusivity on DLC on Dragon Age, On Mass Effect, Skyrim, Im not sure but i think fallout 3 had exclusivity as well.

And for action adventure games with a great story Im exited forquantum break from the makers of Alan Wake, exclusive to Xbox, and for Ryse, theres a lot more games we dont know off yet

            • Raymond Featherston

The only reason MS had exclusive anything for Mass Effect was because the published the first game, but after EA took over and got things in line both got everything in equal amounts. The PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 took awhile to come out, but you also have to keep in mind that it also got about $20 worth of DLC for free, and this is DLC the Xbox players had to pay for. As far as Mass Effect goes I wouldn’t count it as it balanced itself out in several ways, MS got timed exclusivity for Mass Effect one and 2, but PS3 also got DLC for free that otherwise would have cost money.

To me the prospect of getting some DLC a month early (all their timed DLC exclusives have been about a month) is not worth me being forced to pay an extra $100 for a Kinect that I would never use. To a teenager like myself $100 is a huge deal, and I don’t like how they are forcing people to own and pay for one.

Even with the games you listed the majority of MS’s resources at this point seem to be flowing towards shooters. Like someone above said 95% of their controller demonstration was talking about how great it is for FPS’s, and that they made changes to it just to make FPS’s better but never once did they mention how well it would work with other genres. For example the Xbox controller is just plain awful for most fighting games, and the only thing they changed to make that better was to fix the D-pad, and even when they talked about the D-pad they the purpose of changing it was to make FPS’s more fluid. Making all these changes and only considering FPS’s kind of seems to me like a backhand to non-fps players, the controller may work great for other games but the fact that they didn’t even seem to consider it is like a huge back hand to non-shooter players.

All that being said Ryse looks pretty awesome, and I will probably hop over to my cousins house and play it. Both systems and their exclusives look awesome, but the extra $100 cost and MS’s “Shooter Shooter Shooter” mentality is what is making me a get a PS4 first.

            • Allstar Taee

Okay THAT, was said better. I can agree with you on that point.

            • Allstar Taee

              ty

            • Allstar Taee

Regardless, microsoft’s decisions are based off of what the majority consumer responds to. If 95% of microsoft consumers respond to their FPS product, then that’s what they concentrate on. To say they don’t understand that FPS are the “only” type of game is an uneducated opinion. They know, they just choose NOT to invest as much time if any into them.

          • Allstar Taee

            i agree

        • Allstar Taee

While they do show a lack of diversity. I dont see how that is an issue. I am a FPS whore. I dont play anything that doesn’t involve a gun of some type, well..almost i moonlight RPG. but regardless it doesn’t make sense for them to invest in a product that the majority audience doesn’t play, buy think or even dream about.

          • That guy you might know

Yeah and as someone who is trying to slowly branch away from the FPS genre a bit, MS is tossing money at them from every angle. Its pretty obvious

            Titanfall

            Battlefield
            Call of Duty

            Halo being a AAA exclusive
Gears of War, i’d say thats AA at this point. I heard Judgement wasn’t that great, I’ve only played a bit of 3 so I can’t say much.

And yeah, I’ve played the Kinect a bunch of times. Can’t say I enjoy it, I played the House of Nightmares game on it. Controllers were seriously clunky, and it was just annoying.

I don’t do motion gaming well, only on the Wii that is. Sony PS Move is just a gimmick, Kinect is just a gimmick (One thats pretty much a thing with the console now, though its seriously improved, I still see it as a gimmick)

      • That guy you might know

Plus they’re tagging timed exclusive deals for CoD and now Bf
They even did that with Tomb Raiders multiplayer, which did horrible

Not once have I seen them snag a timed exclusive for anything not shooting, if they have then I sure would like to know.

        • Laser0pz

They’ve done non-shooters in the past (and future, I guess). FIFA 14 has a mode exclusive to the Xbox One. Need for Speed Shift has a DLC pack exclusive to the 360 as well I think.

          • That guy you might know

            So I stand corrected xD

So that’s two so far, that I know of now

          • Joey Marcelo Asturias

Oh yea, I 4 got about their recent EA deal

          • That guy you might know

Does that mean it applies to all EA games?

Cause I plan on get NFS Rivals

        • Joey Marcelo Asturias

Can’t say that I remember nor even think that any exclusive bonus have been for anything other than shooters but it’s the Apple of gaming genres right now so pal will be buying into it even though it offers nothing comparably different.

    • Mik3t

Playstation are 2nd tier from a skill point of view so im not suprised

    • Just saying

Just wait till they realize the amount of PS4s that will be sold in the release window.

  • Jamie Marques

will second assault have bf3 weapons like B2K had bf2 weapons?

  • e11even

    Xbox One? Eww…

    • Ryan Schulze

My humorous reaction too. I’d have to touch an Xbox One…eww. Unclean! PS…all in jest and I’d never be mistaken for a competitive gamer.

I’m glad BF4 is embracing competitive gaming. Not to mention that they put Domination on a regular map this time around. Don’t fragment the base like the CQ maps did.

      • Zheka

But, they put 32 players on that really small map. Made it a fck fest. should have kept it @16

        • TI_21

          Its designed for 10v10 matches.

    • MikeyJay

      Seriously? Ewww…?

Why? If it’s soley because it’s not the platform of your choosing that’s really sad. Get off the hate bandwagon. Heck, I’m one of the “PC Master Race” people and I still like to console game. You wouldn’t see me making a retarded derogatory comment.

      • e11even

How is it derogatory when the Xbox One is an inanimate object? One I simply happen to dislike for objective reasons? And if there’s such a thing as “hate-bandwagon”, wouldn’t that just be a matter of opinion? You know, a collective one? Or are you going to sit there and tell me why I should share YOUR opinion?

Why don’t we discuss, then, that you are upset, because my dislike for the Xbox One is being indirectly channeled to you? Do you feel offended that I don’t like it? Does it bother you? Or you’d like me to be passive-aggressive?

Because derogatory would be me telling YOU, that you’re as garbage as your console of preference. But I didn’t do that, now did I? Though you feel I did, which is hilarious in and of itself, because you don’t even know the reason(s) why I wrote “Eww.”

Now how about, ahem, you get off the self-righteous bandwagon, and let me exercise my First Amendment right. You’re free to down-vote.

        Have a nice day.

        • MikeyJay

You’re right, you are free to express your opinion. I was simply pointing out your pointless bias. Derogatory comments can come in many forms, doesn’t need to be about a person.

Hate to burst your bubble, but when referring to Xbox One, you’re also referring to those choosing to purchase the console as well. So in fact, your comment is derogatory by your own definition.

          Have a nice day.

    • CoDforever

I know, Im only getting it for CoD and Titanfall.

      • JohnD

        You are such a retard.

        • dieger

eh not really that would break the game because the foot soldiers would be heavily outmatched once all the buildings were gone

      • JohnD

So why are you on a BF article spitting shit out of your mouth. Titanfall is a generic COD clone with no destruction. How can you have a mech game with no destruction. LOL

        • dieger

“How can you have a mech game with no destruction” you know i cant for the life of me recall a mech game that had destruction O_O

          • JohnD

That is true. What is up with that. Guess we will have to wait till DICE does another 2142.

        • CoDforever

You cant have destruction because the game heavily relies on wall-running i wasnt going off topic, i was replying to his comment

        • BadCompany3

Generic COD clone my ass. But because you are so dumb fuck BF douche bag, your comment is not a surprise.

  • CoDforever

Really? Unveiling the SECOND dlc 2 days after the game come out ? DICE is cool and all, But EA is fucking retarded.

    • TI_21

At first glance I thought the same. However, they want people to get BF4 Premium and to advertise it properly they do have to show more than the next DLC. That’s pretty much why they also announce the DLC names early.

    • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

They gotta, so at least people sorta know what they’re getting into with Premium. COD should do the same with their Season Passes.

      • CoDforever

They should just say “your getting 5 map packs” not reveal everything in a heart beat. Keep it a suprise, dont let all your diehard fans know “this is what your getting in the next NEXT next map pack”

        • Just saying

We already know what second assault maps are. Or do you mean they shouldn’t have said or showed anything about second assault?

          • CoDforever

They shouldnt show how the maps looks keep that as a suprise

            • Just saying

I think all we know is just the names of the DLCs. The maps in SA are discovered by a picture of each map, that’s because we knew it’ll bring back 4 BF3 maps. Other than SA, we only have a 1 min. video of china rising showing jungle like maps.

  • CoDforever

Im glad to see that this was influenced by the COD world championships :) Games helping out each other

  • CoDforever

    Prize pool ?

  • CoDforever

This game really looks cool from a competitive aspect, but it cant be played on the MLG pro circuit (basically its not going be very popular like cod) because CoD ghosts already took the title for the “flagship First person shooter for MLG”, I think that means its the only fps on the pro circuit, right ?

    • born2expire

that’s what CEVO is for (superior league IMO).

    • JohnD

Nobody cares about the Pro circuit. It is overrated and boring. There is millions of players that is masters at FPS it is just luck getting on a MLG Team.

  • born2expire

Why wouldn’t they do this on PC? You can plug in either a Xbox or PS3 pad and everyone can compete.

  • Just saying

MS is doing everything it can to knock Sony off the top in console war while EA gladly made a deal with MS to compete head to head with CoD in Xbox. Funny how both of the companies are using this deal for their each war :)

    • roland0811

I’m just glad Sony seems to have made a decent console this next gen. They finally got their heads out of their asses and focused on gaming and software this time. MS really dropped the ball with the Xbox One just like Sony did with the PS3.

  • Soldier

how is this a tournament? it’s just selecting mostly random people no one has heard of, presumably from the small youtube community that’s based on the xbox, and having them play in this publicity stunt

protip EA/DICE: to get proper exposure you need to have a real tournament, not this joke of an attempt at publicity

    • B_Boss

I will say that “Unseen Valleys are where Heroes are made”.

I only want one thing for this Tournament…..to have Corey Dunn Shoutcast w/Mendez period.

  • B_Boss

Omg…..the Metro chaos will be so precious…..64 players on Nextgen…this is a must watch. Thanks Dave!

  • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

Should be interesting to see how they put a competitive twist on this game.
I’m not saying the game isn’t competitive, Just that the gameplay is a little slower and may not be as exciting to watch.

  • xbox rules

You guys are judgeing the xb1 and you yet haven’t touched it like I have. Its the best console out there. Ms learned there lesson from the xb360. Controller for the xb1 was designed by gamers for gamers. Dedicated servers are on the one that’s why they are showing gamplay on the one. I get to go to the event because I have a special invitation from ms to go.

    • JohnD

Dedicated servers is on all platforms smart one. I respect your opinion on the XB1 but saying it is the best console is stupid and immature. If you want to go by a pure technical or games theory the PS4 shits all over the XB1.
The XB1 controller might be built for gamers but the console is not. It is built for the family.
The PS4 from what I have seen is for gaming first and foremost then the other shit is just extra.

    • Marcus Roue

You’re a moron. Micro$oft is paying to have their garbage console exclusively used in tournaments. Everyone from the developers to insiders know the PS4 is the superior console. Just look at all the articles and test reports!!

  • xbox rules

Who’s getting the destiny beta I am

  • Gaming2Ghost

Making it only for xbox is unfair for ps4 players and pc
