Since the announcement of the next-generation consoles in the spring of last year, the majority of gamers have been rooting for the PlayStation 4, and it looks like they’ve come out on top on the sales front, for now.

Taking to PlayStation’s Twitter, Sony has announced that they have sold a whopping 4.2 million units to date, just a day after Microsoft announced that it sold “over 3 million” Xbox Ones.

It comes at no surprise that PlayStation outsold Xbox. What does however, is the fact that Microsoft is following close behind even though it had a rocky start, it didn’t sell in as many countries, and it sells at a higher price range compared to PlayStation 4.
