A Physical Release For Killer Instinct Is Possible, According To Microsoft Creative Director

Killer Instinct fans who prefer physical copies of their games over digital should be happy to know their wish may come true with Double Helix’s Xbox One-exclusive free-to-play fighter — eventually.

According to Microsoft’s creative director, Adam Isgreen, who revealed the news during a Play XBLA stream last Thursday, a physical version of Killer Instinct may come to fruition. However, a disc-based version of the game is a long way away, as Isgreen revealed that, at the earliest, fans won’t see it until season 2 of Killer Instinct is finished, meaning that it wouldn’t become a reality until sometime in 2015.

If a physical copy of the game does become available, participants of various Killer Instinct tournaments wouldn’t have to worry about Xbox One’s DRM notification randomly appearing and interrupting them during the middle of a match. This would no longer happen:

Furthermore, fans of Killer Instinct can expect tweaks and balances to be made to the season 1 cast of characters before season 2 goes underway.

Double Helix has also revealed numerous upcoming changes to Killer Instinct which will start going live this month.
