Xbox One June System Update Detailed, Will Allow External Hard Drives

As was hinted last Friday, external hard drive support is coming to Xbox One soon.

How soon you ask? As soon as next month’s Xbox One system update rolls out.

The update will allow any USB 3.0 external hard drive to connect to the Xbox One, as long as it meets the bare minimum of 256 GB of free space. In addition, if you happen to fill up your external hard drive’s memory, additional data will be stored on the Xbox One’s internal hard drive.

The update will also allow players to use real names instead of Gamertags and will also remove the paywall to access apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. There are also a number of improvements coming to SmartGlass. You can watch the overview video above and get additional details over on XboxWire.

Is your Xbox One hard drive already full? Getting an external one as soon as the update goes live?
