Report – Destiny PlayStation-Exclusive Content Will Remain Exclusive Until “At Least Fall 2015″ [Updated]

Update #2

Scratch that last update, Activision has once again contacted Eurogamer to retract that statement saying it has yet to formally announce details.

Update

Activision has confirmed to Eurogamer that Destiny’s PlayStation-exclusive content will remain exclusive until “Fall 2015,” meaning Activision and Sony’s deal will run for one full year before the content is made available on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Original Story

At E3 2014, Sony announced during their media briefing that Bungie’s upcoming shared-world shooter, Destiny, would receive content exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, which was later detailed in greater depth in a recent blog post.

An exclusive multiplayer map, a strike mission, and sets of armor, weapons, and ships were among those items that would come first to Sony’s platforms, before making their way to the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Now, thanks to a listing on Amazon, it appears we may have more details on the duration those items will remain exclusive.

According to the game’s official description on Amazon, the multiplayer map, Strike mission, weapons, armor, and ships will all remain exclusive to PlayStation until at least Fall 2015, roughly one year before it will show up on Microsoft’s consoles.

“Exclusive content for PlayStation 4 owners includes the Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map, Dust Palace Strike, Weapons, Ships and Gear that will only be on PlayStation until at least Fall 2015.”

This certainly does come as a surprise, as it was initially presumed that the items would make their way over perhaps a month later, as per the same deal Activision has with Microsoft and Call of Duty DLC. We aren’t marking this as an official announcement, however, as it was merely discovered through an Amazon listing.

Along with the items listed above, Destiny’s upcoming beta is also coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 first on July 17, opening up later to Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Thanks, NeoGAF

If this is true, I’ll be a bit bothered. Exclusive games and its features, etc over the other should sell a console, not DLC. Exclusive DLC is just crap. You already have a split market, and now Bungie is alienating the platform they started on. It won’t increase console sales for Sony, so why do it?

    • Yo Mama

Wahhh.. cry me a river. Want a Weineken to go with those French cries? I bet you are nowhere to found when it comes time for you to download your Xbox COD dlc early.

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Yo Mama’s runnin’ stale on jokes! Better bake up some new ones :)

        • Yo Mama

You guys got somethin’ to say to me? Why don’t you say it in the microphone. I got a backup mic right here. Check one two, testing, testing. Yup, they both workin’ and guess what? They don’t like no feedback, what’s up?

          • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

I’m not supposed to talk to strangers. Sorry dude.

            • Joel Santana

              LOL

      • http://MP1st.com Denny Kovacs

I admit that I don’t care that Call of Duty DLC comes first to Xbox, because I frankly don’t care about the game, but that doesn’t make my opinion on DLC exclusivity being crap invalid. I bet a ton of people on the PS are frustrated that some DLC doesn’t come to them at the same time.

Also, you need new jokes bro.

        • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

It has to make a joke first

      • jameslara

Sorry, but as a PlayStation gamer who’s been nicked by BS deals like this in the past, this lenght in time is just silly, and unwanted.

        • NinoBr0wn

          Unwanted or unwarranted?

          • jameslara

            Yes.

            lol

      • Mike

You stole that from a movie. I’m glad PS4 gets something extra but my guess it will be generic skins. A white PS4 is cool though. I wonder if people that already have ps4s will buy the Destiny bundles! haha

    • Guest

Won’t increase console sales for Sony? What do you think the white PS4 Destiny bundle is for? It’s going to sell tons this holiday.

      • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

Pretty sure people would just want a white PS4. I would.

      • sony not so good

        Dream on.
        Xbox Won all the way.

      • KiLLaMaNiLLa

        I really do wish i waited i want a white PS4 lol.

      • ROCKMONEY

Can’t wait to snatch up one of them white PS4′s this holiday season…

    • Just saying

There will always be games that have timed or lifetime exclusivity deals, whether we liked it or not. I personally hate exclusive content because, as I said before, me (on PS4) and other dude (on Xbone) pay the same amount of money to get the game so why give me or him more stuff? MS and Sony think that this way is supposed to show how they care about their user base.

      • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

Speculatively, it will stop once gamers realize that the practice is of questionable ethic. Once gamers understand that paying the same price to play the same game at the same time, to then have to withstand being treated as the second rste gamer forced to wait for any disclosed(in this case undisclosed) amount of time before having the same content is simply wrong. Its not a matter of who did it first, or as I used to argue, timed vs lifetime exclusivity. Two wrongs do not make a right as an old saying goes. The way I see it, is that its one thing if a 3rd Party developers has their reason for developing games exclusively. Quantic Dreams, Remedy Entertainment, and Ready at Dawn have stated that their relationships with respective hardware manufacturers are the reason they have their obligation to produce exclusive games despite not being wholly owned by neither MS or Sony. But exclusive content, on top of split pre order bonuses at retailers is just completely detrimental in my opinion which is why I tend not to buy games brand new when they do that. When Microsoft does it, I don’t buy the DLC until its openly available. Its just a personal protest for me. It really made me angry with ACIII as much as I enjoyed that game…a tale told in the American Revolution with Benedict Arnold, the country’s greatest traitor, conveniently cut from the all but one version of the game? And they didn’t try to hide it as the mission marker was in the map legend until they patched it.

    • MrMultiPlatform

The 10 million consoles they’ve already sold says other wise.

    • jerrmy12

Because they know the ps4 is better and they know ps4 has more users that aren’t retarded or kids.

      • Kensei_001

But wasn’t the ps3 much better than the xbox 360? Didn’t see any difference there. And how is it that the ps4 version is better if they both run at 1080p 60fps?

Ps4 has more users that aren’t retarded of kids? Where did you get that idea?

        • jerrmy12

Because all you hear is squekers and ragers on xbl, I rearely hear squekers and don’t see as much kid stuff on psn.

    • Jeuthy

Maybe you’re right, making some of Destiny’s features exclusive for ps4 won’t increase the console sales for Sony but i can bet it wasn’t free, Sony must have payed a lot of cash for it, so as microsoft does with EA and the COD games, so why is so bad to have the same on the ps4. And remember, videogames are a business bungie is not doing anything differente than that, you want a Ps4, great news, you’ll have exclusive Destiny content for at least a year, you want a Xbox one, sorry you’ll have to wait but hey… you still have EA and COD, 2 months or so exclusive content.

  • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Dayum. I get that Sony is after that exclusivity. They totally deserve it after the month-long-exclusive Call of Duty DLC antics Microsoft pulled with Activision all last generation and even going into this generation. But one year is a bit excessive, no?

Their logic could be that PlayStation users have had to wait 12 months *accumulatively* for DLC over the past three or so COD titles, but I’d bet this will likely carry on into Destiny 2 and Destiny 3, not to mention the sort of deal they might strike with actual Destiny downloadable add-on content like map packs, new Strike Missions, etc.

Exclusivity is fine to generate hype and loyalty, but, man, a whole year just isn’t even necessary and comes across as arrogant and douchey.

    • Joel Santana

      I agree.

    • dieger

Dont forgot that MS bought the Battlefield DLC exclusivity aswell :/

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Ah, but Sony also had all Battlefield 3 DLC two weeks early :)

        • dieger

true but now MS has all the DLC which is pissing me off. Still atleast we get Garden warfare

          • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

            Exclusivity sucks, man!

            • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

This may be the case for Watch_Dogs as well, now that you think about it. It is Ubisoft after all.

              (AVGN voice)
Ya know whats BUUUUUULLLLLSHIT?! Exclusive DLC.
Be it timed, or lifetime, it just screws the player base on the platform that isn’t getting it. How do gamers see this as fair?.Its a multi platform game! Gamers should expect no eless of a game in terms of content. Im not even buying FarCry 4, an entire online feature cut out on non Playstation versions its bullshit! Im sick of paying the same price for the same game and having content cut out of my version bc I don’t own other. Gamers on the other platforms shouldnt have to put up with it either. Imagine if this were a cross platform game? What annoys me even more so, is that Bungie claims platform impartiality; meanwhile hosting exclusive access alpha on Playstation only, then first access beta on PlayStation, and now at least a full year which may as well be a lifetime of a hefty amout of content. My form of protest to these case is always buying the game preowned, giving my money to GameStop, or some seller on eBay but not the developer. Might not hurt them none, but then again I dont necessarily need the content. I just won’t pay full price. Still, that is bullshit

          • MrMultiPlatform

Microsoft only got 2nd assault early.

      • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

It was only Second Assault. BF4 add one launch on all platforms simultaneously

        • sony not so good

And this Destiny exclusive is ONE map and ONE mission, plus some models. It’s nothing in the scheme of things.

          • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

True, but they do look nice though…

    • Yo Mama

Keep crying. Same as the dude below, I bet you didn’t complain either when you were downloading your COD dlc early on your Xbox. Did you?

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

I did, in fact. Never thought it was fair. Exclusivity sucks. Period.

    • Guest

They both do timed exclusive crap, nobody’s innocent here.

Imagine the butthurt if Destiny actually was PS4 exclusive.

      • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

No one would care. The game would be exclusive.

        Its not…

Ask yourself who is actually upset Sunset Over Drive is exclusive? Or the Order 1886?

        • bigevilworldwide

Sunset Overdrive is only exclusive because Insomniac didn’t want to sell the IP to Sony….Ted Prics has mentioned that Sony was completely willing publish Sunset Overdrive but they wanted to own the IP, and Insomniac wanted to keep control it themselves.

Which just means Insomniac didn’t want another Ratchet & Clank type situation on their hands IF sunset overdrive takes off. Not sure why MS decided to spin it into some BS only possible on the cloud crap though

          • Nostalgia

You’re correct on why Sunset Overdrive is exclusive however we have no idea on the other. It’s possible if Sunset Overdrive was on the PS4, it might not be able to do something as well as it’s now going to be able to.

Microsoft’s Cloud technology is still unproven, we’ll have to wait and see.

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Absolutely. Like I said below, exclusivity sucks, especially timed-exclusivity.

Oddly, I don’t think anyone would actually be that butthurt if Destiny was a PS4-exclusive. I know I wouldn’t, personally, if it was something that was made clear from the get-go. Yeah, Bungie followers would rage, but it’s hard to be mad about something that was never yours in the first place.

I played and loved the shit out of The Last of Us on PS3. Not mad I won’t be playing the Remastered edition. I made my choice knowing fully well what I was and wasn’t getting. But buying Call of Duty on the PlayStation 3 / 4, expecting equal treatment, and then having to wait a month for my DLC? Yeah, that’d get me a little hot-headed.

      • xkingxnitemare

You mean its not exclusive? really? less than 3 months till release and we know nothing about the xbox version other than the res and frame rate.not one screenshot, or gameplay. got left of out the alpha and barley getting a beta and exclusive gear and MAPS. could of fooled me, it might as well be.

    • Kevin Garvey

Well Call of Duty DLC, is just maps and after awhile, you don’t really need the new maps to have a good experience, but for destiny which is suppose to play a role as a MMO, which involve missions and equips and all sorts.

So what Bungie is doing is just not necessary, wonder if they are going to do something like battlefield premium, Playstation get the dlc early, and then if you buy the season pass you will get it on the same day as playstation

    • MrMultiPlatform

I honestly think the reasoning behind this is because this is the first Bungie game coming to the PlayStation & they want to get on good terms.

  • Wargreymon559 .

Microscum wanted a war. They got a War from Sony.

    • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

Yeah, Microscum and Phony always at war!

      • Samson

        Oof.. Grammar, my man. Grammar.

And you had been doing so well.

  • BHill4three5891

And that’s where I stop complaining about COD’s DLC time gap between XB and PS. Wow that’s crazy

    • Jonah Thrillz

Well think of all the past CoD games that had month long exclusives and the advertising to back it. Activision likely played a major role in keeping Sony happy. Activision also wasn’t thrilled Micro$oft made an exclusive deal with EA on TitanFall to compete with CoD.

It’s only going to get worse until Phil Spencer makes things right and cancels future exclusivity deals. Sucks doesn’t it?

      • MrMultiPlatform

This is one of the smartest comments I’ve ever read.

  • Anders

PlayStation don’t do one month timed exclusives.

    • sony not so good

No, that’s right, instead they do year long exclusives on ONE multiplayer map, ONE mission and some token models. Bahahaha… what a joke. All this big talk about exclusivity and it’s but a tiny fraction of the enormity that is Destiny. Seriously… no one cares.

      Xbox Won!!!

  • Pingback: Report - Destiny PlayStation-Exclusive Content Will Remain Exclusive Until "At Least Fall 2015" - MP1st | Tech reviews

  • sony not so good

Destiny is such a large game that it completely negates this timed exclusive, which is just a multiplayer map and some nik-naks. I don’t think Xbox Won owners are going to care to tell the truth. Feels like this much talked about exclusivity will be less than 1% of the potential content available.
And by the time the exclusivity ends no one is gonna give a damn.

    • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

That’s a reasonable perspective. It’s very probably players will find equipment with better stats maybe an hour or so into their adventure.

I do think keeping an entire multiplayer map and Strike mission exclusive for one whole year is a little whacky though. It’s waste of development efforts if Xbox players who move on to other games after the fact will never even see it. At that point, why even bother to release it?

      • Jonah Thrillz

That’s the point. Destiny’s world will be so big I’m guessing there won’t be sequels for at least 3-4 years if at all.

        • MrMultiPlatform

          Destiny is a 10yr game.

    • MrMultiPlatform

Look at sales buddy. Microsoft is so embarrassed that they stopped giving sales numbers.

  • Jonah Thrillz

    Whoooooooooooo!!!

Now dat’s wat I’m talking ’bout!

Timed exclusivity sucks but Micro$oft started this so did you expect Sony to sit and do nothing? EA got an exclusivity deal for TitanFall and got it. Didn’t work out so well for both M$ and EA. Now you’re going to see more timed exclusives instead of console exclusives in the future.

Sony had to fire back some kind of response. If you want the FULL experience of Bungie’s Destiny, then play it on the PS4!

    • sony not so good

Bhahaha… but the exclusive content is virtually nothing. You sonyfanboys are desperately trying to hang onto some rapidly disappearing advantage over Xbox One.
At 1st, at last years E3, it felt like Bungie was betraying thier whole fanbase. But one year on I can see this isn’t the case. As the year rolled by towards the release date things have completely changed. It used to be that Destiny was 1080p on ps4 and 900p on Xbox Won. but now Bungie have worked their magic with the new SDK and got BOTH consoles working at 1080p and 30fps. And now this much hyped exclusive content has been disclosed and it’s utterly pitiful when you consider the mammoth size of the Destiny universe. This exclusive deal must have cost sony a whole heap, and they’re getting a fraction of a percent of the entire content.
Such a shame for you sonyfanboys, because this exclusive deal is laughable.

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Jonah’s comment definitely isn’t the right approach, but let’s try to keep “fanboy” name calling out of it so we can keep these conversations clean and productive :)

        • Jonah Thrillz

Backhanded compliments really show your subjective nature David. Instead of being bitter just get a PS4 and enjoy the games dude.

          • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

            Subjective?

            “Whoooooooooooo!!!
Now dat’s wat I’m talking ’bout!”

“If you want the FULL experience of Bungie’s Destiny, then play it on the PS4!”

Do I need to get you a dictionary!? :)

            • Jonah Thrillz

Who said I had to be objective?

You’re a mod right? As in Moderator. Aren’t you supposed to be objective and refrain from taking sides? Your dictionary tell you what that means?

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Absolutely. And I challenge you to prove that I, in fact, have.

I am bitter about a company choosing to withhold content for an entire year. I don’t care if it’s MS or Sony. It’s wrong.

(It’s also not entirely confirmed, so this all theoretical.)

            • Jonah Thrillz

You’re the one calling me out. What’s there to prove?

So if it turns out to be false you XBone fans are really crying over nothing?

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

I can call you out all I want, dude! I’m still a human being with freedom of speech. Let me call you out one more time:

I’m not an “XBone fan” and calling me one is lazy and immature.

            • Jonah Thrillz

At least drop the mod status if you’re going to engage posters here. You are just making a mockery of the word “moderator”.

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Write a letter to DISQUS. Not in my control.

            • Nostalgia

Don’t fret with Jonah, David.. He’s clearly a subjective troll from his other comments. He’ll turn a blind eye when it’s anything against Sony but will be one of the first to hop on the bandwagon if it’s against Microsoft.

*And I’ve barely started replying to him and he’s that much of an open book.*

Yeah, I do enjoy having CoD content a month early but that’s when I actually play CoD once a friend bugs me enough. Usually I don’t end up downloading that crap DLC until after PS receives it. But a month is one thing, an entire year (hypothetically still..) is another and just shows how much Destiny is doing to shove that stake in Micros’ft back.

            • Joel Santana

Even though I probably won’t be picking up Destiny, I still feel that a year exclusivity is kinda over doing it.

As more than likely within that year the majority of players playing on Xbox platforms will move on since 2015 is looking packed already.

            • MrMultiPlatform

              Says the XBOT fanboy.

            • Nostalgia

Says the Sony drone who wouldn’t even know an Xbox fanboy if he saw one.

            • Jonah Thrillz

lol, it’s you again! Didn’t know I can get you so riled up!

As for your accusations of me being biased, remember the saying about the pot calling the kettle black.

Now this whole timed exclusive is really Micro$oft’s fault. Had they not signed an exclusive deal with EA and Respawn, Activision and Bungie wouldn’t have retaliated with this deal. If you really want to play the best version of Destiny get it on PS4 and stop crying about it.

            • Nostalgia

Play the best version of Destiny on PS4? I’d rather have the much better and much more stable Xbox LIVE over some silly gimmicks and timed bullshit.

Riled up? Hardly, I just hate stupidity and you’re oozing it.
Accusations? All anyone has to do is look at your history of posts and they’ll see those “accusations” are nothing less than facts. That time old saying huh? I guess it’s a good thing I’ve never been a pot or a kettle. Okay well I hold some bias as I do prefer quality over playing dirty but I don’t have blind bias and allegiance like you appear to along with hundreds of thousands of Sony “fans”.

            • Jonah Thrillz

Xbox LIVE being more stable is a fallacy. The 1 year exclusive content coupled with the superior hardware of the PS4 will no doubt deliver the best experience of Destiny.

Of course you being an Xbot moron would never admit this but I say let the reviews pour in before making a decision on buying Destiny and/or console.

            • Nostalgia

What!?! How is it a fallacy? Xbox LIVE being more stable is no less a fact than gravity here on Earth. The one year exclusive content is cute arm candy, I’ll admit that but it’s unnecessary and irrelevant content. Similar to the timed exclusive deal with CoD on Xbox.

“Xbot”? I could be struck by a bus tomorrow and be declared brain dead but I’ll still be more open minded than you’ll ever be and as far as “moron”, all anyone has to do is take a look at your posting history to see you drastically underestimate me and overestimate yourself.

I feel sorry for people like you, you’d rather follow a bandwagon to feel “cool” than to actually enjoy the hobby in question. *tsk tsk*

            • Jonah Thrillz
            • Nostalgia

You’re either a troll or a moron. I never said Xbox LIVE was perfect or that it never had issues, just that it was ‘more” *keyword* stable. Yes, there are very isolated events of a minority of the community that is usually identified and resolved quickly.

You’re playing video games and you don’t take it personal? Please, again all anyone has to do is look at your posting history is see that that is a bunch of bullshit.

I reply usually after getting home from work or when I wake up, I’m not here staring at my notifications waiting for replies.. What I take personal is attacks against my intelligence, common sense, opinion and other PERSONAL factors of my life over an exaggerated and needless “console war” fueled by ignorant people believing everything Sony spews and craze kiddies that think it’s Xbox or the end of the world.

            • Jonah Thrillz

Seeing all these mounting incidents I don’t believe Xbox LIVE is “more” stable. You can be an asshat all you want but the reports don’t lie and they outnumber PSN in problems encountered.

Your posting history is just indicative of what a typical Xbot fanboy does. Nothing you do contributes to anything useful. I guess you kidz are crying hard over the XBone’s problems. Denial is quite empowering huh?

            • Nostalgia

Mounting incidents? It isn’t difficult to see how you think problems with Xbox LIVE outnumber problems with PSN, when you ignore any and all reports that aren’t “pro-Sony” or “pro-PSN” or you just insult the reporter(s) as being clueless, sheep Xbox fanboys like your little Sony handbook tells you to do.

I can be an asshat? If the truth makes me an asshole, I’d rather be an asshole than lying to myself that PSN is somehow more stable than Xbox LIVE.

You “kidz”? I might be older than you, apparently more mature than you too. So IDK what you mean by “kidz” as I’m certainly not the one acting like some child.

“Denial is quite empowering huh?” I couldn’t tell you, this is something you’ll need to answer for yourself. I can’t solve all your life problems, at least not without a price.

            • Jonah Thrillz

You can rant all you want but at the end of the day smart gamers know the PS4 is a better console all around!

You just don’t get it. Micro$oft clearly got cocky coming off the Xbox360. They figured they had the market and decided to cut corners on the XBone hardware and try to introduce DRM restrictions to gain more profit. It backfired!

Now they backtracked and removed many of the problems but in the end they still have a weak console and the games prove it.

You can’t run from facts. You bought the wrong console and you’re trying hard to validate it. It’s OK to admit you got suckered in by Micro$oft.

The Bill of Rights superceeds some perceived internet rule, and he is within his first amendment right, voicing dissatisfaction for a company’s decision to withold information on one platform. Pretty objective considering his comment is a stark contrast of your comment which was one sided from the get go. His engagement with you is within his duty as Moderator. He isn’t verbally abusing you, and he is actually following forum guidelines by not being abusive to you others who disagree with his opinion, meanwhile you have the tendency to do the complete opposite. So if you’re going to tell him of what he is supposed to do, then expect to see a lot of your comments deleted as I feel David has been showing you and many others a great deal of leniency on this site as a lot of you anonymous posters bark the loudest with a soft bite.

            • Jonah Thrillz

You used the word “impartial”. I didn’t.

Since you want to go technical here’s the definition of “objective”: not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion.

His bias is for calling me out and saying I’m a fanboy. Yet he refrains from doing the same with other posters here are clearly XBot fanboys. Of course you glanced over that fact.

            • MrMultiPlatform

David you claim freedom of speech, but you call him out for using his.

            • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

He only commented on the manner in which he spoke. And he replied to someone else for doing a wrong to correct a wrong. Its a matter of common courtesy, not government rights

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

I called him out for an opinion I don’t agree with. I’m allowed to. So is he. So are you.

It’s not like I arrested him, threw him in jail, and shut him up for saying something I didn’t like. He’s still here. He’s still free to comment and respond.

I’m a human being with opinions. So is he. This is the internet. People will disagree. People will argue.

            • MrMultiPlatform

But isn’t the opinion he expressed also part of his freedom of speech. Not saying a disagree with you David but it’s also a double standard you’re stating. I know you won’t ban unless it’s deserved. I know I’ve been banned on here & honestly I deserved it for what a said.

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

It certainly is! And he was absolutely free to express it. I’m still allowed to disagree with him and express that to him, no?

I don’t see the double standard you are seeing, I think.

            • MrMultiPlatform

“but let’s try to keep “fanboy” name calling out of it.” Your words not mine. Isn’t what you’re referring to in the quote I put also part of his freedom speech. That’s where I see the double standard at.

            • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Ah gotchya. When it comes to unnecessary name calling and insults, I’d be more than happy to delete your comment. I think that’s reasonable and fair and is how all websites that care to foster a healthy and productive community conduct themselves.

            • MrMultiPlatform

              ;)

            • Jonah Thrillz

Yeah don’t worry about it. David admitted he wasn’t a “moderator” even though he was given that status by Disqus.

      • Jonah Thrillz

Ok so why are you crying about it? You still get to play Destiny on XBone no? You will eventually get a chance at the content next year. Direct your frustrations at Micro$oft.

      • Guest

If devs claim Destiny is 1080p 30 fps on both, PS4 will still have a higher average framerate (less drops), less screen tearing, and better visual effects (AA, shadows, particles, etc.) Digital Foundry will prove it.

        • Jonah Thrillz

That is true. Digital Foundry showed some games played and looked better on the PS4 even if both consoles had the same resolution and frame rates.

      • jameslara

TBF the only reason thatthey both are running that res and fps is because they clearly stated themselves that its basically dumbed down for last gen console

    • Tank Buster

Good for Sony, just surprised they can afford exclusive content. Must be sponsored by Visa.

      • El Gringo Diablo

        Yup… Sore anus Xbox fairy.

      • Jonah Thrillz

Sony has paid for exclusive content in the past. Like the God of War character in Mortal Kombat 9 or the extra 40 minutes of content in Assassin’s Creed 4. Stuff you can’t get on the Xbox platform as it’s not timed.

You have to come to the realization the better platform to game on right now is the PS4!

        • Tank Buster

PS4 definitely has better resolution on the multiplats & some interesting DLC, no denying that! But I’m just having too much fun with flawless performing BF4, Titan Fall, Forza & some casual gaming with Plants vs. Zombies. I have no interest in PS4 at the moment, and I think MSFT is motivated to make further improvements to the Xbox so the future is looking bright.

          • Samson

            “Titanfall & Forza.”

LOL. One is already a ghost town, the other one gets boring after a few hours. Don’t get me started on kiddie PvZ.

            • Tank Buster

BF4 & Forza are where its at! I will admit Titan Fall is getting old fast but damn the game is still fun as hell! PS4 just can’t offer what I want or believe me I would buy one.

          • Jonah Thrillz

            BF4 is 900p @ 60fps on PS4 but it’s only 720p on XBone.

Forza 5 is less detailed and missing features compared to Forza 4 on Xbox360.

TitanFall hasn’t done that well according to sales and shows the XBone’s hardware limit at 792p and barely supports 60fps.

Poor examples of showcasing the XBone.

            • Tank Buster

While the performance stats might not be up to ” snuff” for PS4 snobs, the experiences in the game have been absolutely fantastic! What a concept huh? I will take Forza 5 as a release game for a great racer sim, as I mentioned below the racing genre has been completely ignored on PS4 to date so Forza is a great example for showcasing Xbox One games. ( yes I’m ignoring Need for Speed)

            • Jonah Thrillz

Nice attempt at belittling DriveClub. You do know the developers decided quality was more important than just releasing a game with minimal effort like Forza 5.

Now that everything is polished and optimized, we’ll see DriveClub soon enough.

            • Tank Buster

Drive Club looks awesome! Atleast the very limited footage that was made available to view, but I’m anxious to see the depth of the game development and how it will play after its finally released. Would have been great for Sony & its developers in all their wisdom to have a good racing game available within the first 12 months of the consoles release but I guess that wasn’t important or they didn’t have the resources to plan & execute for something like this. I’m sure a lot of fans would have enjoyed a good racer. And as I said above Drive Club looks awesome and it will fill a much needed hole for the PS4 game catalog.

  • uwantSAM0A

To me, timed exclusive content is like 3D at the movies: if it doesnt take away a core mechanic, then i could care less about it.

  • http://www.showtimeforfree.com/ miDnIghtEr20C

Ha ha ha.. I remember when money hatting this kind of stuff was bad. Now that Sony is doing it, it’s going to be a great move. I’ve always been a fan of it. Like sports teams, you pay higher for the better players. Console makers need to pay more for the better DLC or games.

This is just funny because the Sony only fan used to hate when MS did this. Kind of see a .. “Oh, I don’t mind paying to play online now” type of thing to happen.

    • yardis

The paying to play online thing doesn’t matter because you get 6 games a month with PS+.

Exclusive dlc is the worst idea ever, thats coming from a sony owner. I bet Microsoft and EA invented this.

  • Jamie McDonald

At least Activision haven’t done what they did with Call of Duty… I will now be at had to rub it in the faces of those who rubbed in mine!

  • Luis Mitis

is there going to be a limited edition and more expensive pre-order box for destiny ? besides the white PS4 bundle

    • MrMultiPlatform

      No

  • http://twitter.com/heyitsbmk HEYitsBMK

A one year timed exclusivity deal is craaaaaay, no need to ever have timed exclusivity, let alone for an entire year. As I’ve said to friends who game, having to wait for DLC that I know I will eventually get is just super annoying. It won’t make me buy the other console to get the DLC quicker, so they just piss me off. I’m a Playstation guy so in my experience it’s the stupid one month deal with CoD DLC (I’m a huge CoD fan). I can understand Xbox players feeling the same with deals of the same nature such as this, especially being a year, so stupid.

  • Playmaker

I won’t be buying this dlc one year after launch. If it is going to be one year, just make it exclusive. How many xboners will pay for this one year from launch? I won’t. I won’t even be playing this game 6 months after launch.

  • Playmaker

MS bought a whole game, Titanfall, and made it exclusive. I have an xbone so I could care less if it was or wasn’t. If I owned a PS4 I’d be pissed.

But one year?? How many PS4 users would’ve bought Titanfall post one-year? Maybe for an all inclusive all DLC deal, but still …

The one year time frame is dumb to me, not the timed exclusivity.

For me, Destiny doesn’t move the dial. So, its w/e to me.

    • MrMultiPlatform

I own a PS4 and I could care less about Titanfall.

  • Tank Buster

I’ll probably be too busy playing The Division to worry about this crappy DLC, but if it gets the Sony fanboys all worked up into a circle jerk frenzy and buying this Destiny game then I guess this is a good plan. Bungie already has support from Xbox owners so why not buy the “respect” of the PS4 owners with this timed DLC. Reading the comments below looks like the “usual suspects” bought it hook, line & sinker.

    • El Gringo Diablo

      Lol butt hurt Microsoft zombie!

      • Tank Buster

Not butthurt, this DLC is more sizzle than steak, but there’s just too many other shooters on the table for the near future for me to commit to this game. I’m sure everyone who buys this game will love it however, if you can get immersed into this game I’m sure it will be entertaining.

        • MrMultiPlatform

          PS gets all DLC early.

    • MrMultiPlatform

The Division is Ghost Recon turned into a “mmo” & nothing more.

So glad I own bought the MatureStation.

      • Tank Buster

We’re all really very happy for you

  • Luis Mitis

Is there going to be a limited/hardened/fuckingrareandexpensive edition of this game ? not the white PS4 bundle.

    • MrMultiPlatform

      No.

  • MrMultiPlatform

It was removed for damage control reason.

  • You are flat out wrong

Biggest game of the year (yes, more so than manufactured hype Titanfall) better on the Quad. Enjoy your Halo ports, Xbottles. :^)
