Community Spotlight – Game Tracker App Lets You Stay Updated With Your Favorite Games

Friend and Battlefield Podcast founder Jan Ole Peek (@ChalkOne) is putting the final touches on a brand new iOS app that helps you keep track of your favorite video games, including news, update, and information, all in the palm of your hand or in your pocket.

Game Tracker is an app that Peek has been hammering away at since the conclusion of E3 2014. He hopes to provide gaming enthusiasts a simple way to stay up-to-date with games they’re most interested in.

“During E3 this year so many games were shown and announced and I wanted a way to keep track of them, to sort them by release date, keep up on the latest news regarding them, and not have to do it by manually assembling a list somewhere on a piece of paper. The idea of creating an app that would allow me to search for games, add them to a list, and easily get news about them popped into my head and thus the motivation to create an iPhone app was born.”

We gave Game Tracker a spin and, thus far, it’s simple to use and is a really easy way to check up on the most recent news articles on games we personally selected to keep track of.

The app itself is nearly complete, fully-featured, running on a variety of iPhone versions, and functioning on iPad. Focus may extend to native iPad support down the road, along with support for Android devices and Windows Phone. But, for now, the next step is to get it submitted to the App Store and out into the hands of users. That’s where Kickstarter comes in and where Peek hopes to get the help to jump over the last few hurdles by getting an Apple Developer Account and access to actually place the app on the App Store.

“Backing this project gets you at minimum the app itself. I plan to price it at $2.99, so a $3 pledge ensures you’ll be among the first to be able to use it. If you’re interested in this idea and would purchase the app anyway, think of it as donating 1 cent.”

As of this writing, 11 backers have pledged $90 of the $150 required to kick start the project with exactly one week to go. So, if it sounds useful or interesting to you, drop by Peek’s Kickstarter page right here and check it out.
