Report – Leaked Pre-Alpha Footage of Free Radical’s Cancelled Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Surfaces

Over 30 minutes of pre-alpha footage of Free Radical’s cancelled Star Wars: Battlefront 3 title has allegedly leaked online, showing off a rough but intriguing concept of what would have been for the cancelled first-person/third-person Star Wars shooter.

The footage shows off a mix of infantry and vehicular combat on iconic Star Wars locations like Hoth and Coruscant. Being pre-alpha, the gameplay is obviously unfinished, but it’s still pretty interesting to see some of the work that went on.

The Battlefront series is no stranger to leaks. Footage of Star Wars: First Strike, a downloadable first-person shooter that was meant to act as a stepping stone to Battlefront 3 proper but was also cancelled, surfaced earlier last year.

Now, Battlefield developer DICE is hard at work on a Star Wars: Battlefront title that — fingers crossed — is definitely not going to be cancelled any time soon. It is expected to launch sometime around the release of the new Star Wars movie in 2015.

As for Free Radical, they have since been rebranded by Crytek UK as Deep Silver Dambuster and are currently working on Homefront: Revolution.
