Most Active Halo: The Master Chief Collection Players To Beta Test Future Updates

Halo: The Master Chief Collection developer 343 Industries is offering an invitation the the community’s most active members to beta test upcoming updates for the game.

North American players who’ve opted-in via the Xbox One Preview program will get a chance to participate in the tests, according to the studio’s latest blog entry, beginning this Friday, January 23. Players must, of course, already own The Master Chief Collection in addition to being highly engaged. If selected, you’ll notice a prompt to download the a new update upon booting up when live.

“In recent weeks, we have been conducting extensive internal testing of an upcoming content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection,” 343 wrote. “Given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the matchmaking experience and party system, we are expanding testing to include select members of the Xbox One Preview program to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for all players.”

Though it’s an interesting and potentially controversial approach to updating a game struggling to catch a break, it isn’t an entirely new one and has already proved beneficial for other multiplayer titles like Battlefield 4 who’ve adopted a similar philosophy.

What’s your take on it?
