New “Doubles Skirmish” Game Mode Enters Destiny’s PvP Arena

Earlier this week, Destiny‘s PvP mode, also known as the Crucible, was updated with a new game mode centered around teams of only two Guardians.

Doubles Skirmish, as it’s called, takes the 3v3 Skirmish game mode and sheds off a player on each side, scaling it down to 2v2. Heavy ammo appears only once per match and, as before, revives are enabled.

“Your Supers will come back more slowly because you’re not getting as many actions per minute as you would in a game of Control,” Destiny Design Lead Lars Bakken explained in Bungie’s latest weekly update.

“The goal here was about taking the rules we already have and mixing them up to create a fresh experience,” he added. “Each player has the full weight of winning or losing placed squarely on their shoulders and nobody to blame but themselves… or their teammate. No pressure.”

No word if further updates are planned for Destiny’s PvP, but you’ll be sure to find the news here if we catch wind.

Have you tried Doubles Skirmish yet? What are your thoughts?
