PlayStation 4 Virtual Reality Machine Project Morpheus Pinned For Early 2016 Launch

Sony’s virtual reality machine, Project Morpheus, is coming to PlayStation 4 sometime in the first half of 2016, the company announced today.

Along with four brand new VR demos, a prototype of the device was showcased at the Game Developers Conference this year that Sony says is closer to the consumer product it plans to release next year.

It can render games at a 120 frames-per-second refresh rate, which Sony says the PlayStation 4 will also be able to support and is ideal for virtual reality. It now boasts a 5.7 inch screen, a sub-18 millisecond latency rate, and “about” a 100 degree field of view with nine tracking LEDs.

“We are one step closer to realizing our vision of making virtual reality a reality in games,” said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment.

Thanks, Polygon
