Rainbow Six Siege Closed Alpha Arrives On PC Today

The Rainbow Six Siege Closed Alpha, announced last month, has officially kicked off as of 7AM PST today, ending at the same time next week on Monday, April 13.

Users who were granted access can now launch the Closed Alpha from their Uplay client and will be allowed stream and capture gameplay freely, without restrictions, says Ubisoft.

Here are some basic instructions on how to get set up:

  1. Download Uplay PC installer here: https://uplay.ubi.com/#!/en-US/
  2. Install Uplay PC and log into your account
  3. Click on the cog icon in the upper-right corner to display the menu and then click ‘activate product’
  4. Enter your Alpha key in the input field and press OK
  5. The final confirmation will be displayed, showing the content you are about to activate
  6. Press OK and it’s done!

Available in the Closed Alpha is Rainbow Six Siege’s defining 5 vs. 5, no-respawn game mode called Hostage Rescue. It will be playable on two maps, House and Presidential Plane. Users will also get access to the 10 distinct Operator classes that were outlined earlier this week in greater detail.

“This is a chance for the dev team to really put Rainbow Six Siege through its paces,” writes Ubisoft Communications Specialist Anne Lewis, “but because it’s in alpha you may notice some things in the environment seem unfinished. That’s because the team at Ubisoft Montreal is working hard to put the siege gameplay and innovative destruction technology first for players to get a good sense of how the game will feel and play.”

Though final specs for the game aren’t quite nailed down just yet, Ubisoft Montreal promises a 60 FPS frame rate for both the Alpha and the final release. “With the game being all about indoor close quarter combat, we are making sure that 60 FPS and low latency are mandatory so that player’s input is fast and responsive,” says Gameplay Designer Andrew Witts.

If you missed out on the Closed Alpha, there’s still a chance to register for the Rainbow Six Siege Closed Beta on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, arriving later this year.
