Call of Duty: World at War Is Now Backwards Compatible On Xbox One

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War joins a growing a list of classic first-person shooter games making their way to Xbox One’s backwards compatibility program.

Today, Xbox announced that the fan-favorite World War II shooter, originally on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, is joining now Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops on Xbox One. Each title can now be purchased separately on Xbox One as well.

For many, World at War was their first experience with Call of Duty multiplayer or Call of Duty in general. The game is also Treyarch’s first second crack at developing a numbered entry in the series in parallel with Infinity Ward who went on to move the series forward into a modern era with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare a year earlier.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, a project in the works at Raven Software, launches alongside Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare later this Fall.
