BF4 PC and PS4 Game Updates Out December 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 “End of This Week at the Earliest”

Upcoming Battlefield 4 patch dates are being narrowed down as we now have a solid launch time frame for both the PC and PlayStation 4 game updates due out very quickly.

According to DICE developer “Trydling“, the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of Battlefield 4 will be receiving downloadable game updates tomorrow, December 3. Their primary focus is to alleviate issues surrounding the EMP blur effect, the “one-shot kill bug”, and audio bugs prevalent on maps like Golmud Railway and Lancing Dam.

The updates will start to roll out at around 1am PST/10am UTC Dec 3, with the China Rising content for Premium members unlocking shortly after at around 2am PST/11am UTC. (Thanks, Mechcell.)

He added that the studio is “also finalizing the next game updates for X360, PS3, and Xbox One, but [they] don’t have set dates for those just yet. It is looking likely that some of those will be ready at the end of this week at the earliest.”

Here’s what we got so far:

Release Dates

  • PC – December 3
  • PlayStation 4 – December 3
  • PlayStati0n 3 – “End of this week at the earliest.”
  • Xbox One – “End of this week at the earliest.”
  • Xbox 360 – “End of this week at the earliest.”

PC Game Update Notes

  • Removed the blur effect on soldiers that appeared when Commanders were using EMP attacks
  • Fixed the audio bug where audio sometimes randomly dropped out while playing on certain multiplayer maps (typically Golmud Railway and Hainan Resort)
  • Fixed the “one-hit kill bug” where occasionally damage from a single bullet was applied multiple times
  • Fixed a common crash that would occur when exiting from the Single Player Campaign to Main Menu
  • Tweaked the network and computer performance screen to show proper values. Players can now test their computer and network connection and get recommendations if they need to adjust something to improve their gameplay experience.

PlayStation 4 Game Update Notes

  • Fixed the “one-hit kill” bug where bullets were sometimes applying their damage multiple times to a character. This could lead to firefights where normal rifles sometimes dealt one-shot kills, which is not as designed.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when having a very large amounts of Friends
  • Enabled audio in PS4 video captures

  • mechcell

Also “The upcoming PC game update will launch December 3, to coincide with the launch of the expansion pack Battlefield 4 China Rising for Premium members on all platforms.
The game update will start to roll out at 1AM PST/10AM UTC Dec 3, followed by the actual China Rising content around 2AMPST/11AM UTC. You can expect some downtime around these times as servers are being prepared to support this new content.”

      • born2expire

        not worth staying up for.

        • DerpSlayer

          go away

        • mechcell

I’m staying up for doing my 50 page final project.

  • James

Why can’t the PS4 patch have the same fixes as the PC patch? We are having the same exact problems!

    • theplantain

was thinking the same, that commander emp blur needs to go…and the other issues as well

      • zacflame

At first, it seemed like a problem, but it seems just fine now.

        • Benjamin

It really isn’t fine. It’s an awful effect that really messes with a lot of people’s vision. Personally it makes me feel a bit nauseous.

    • DerpSlayer

Because they’re able to roll out PC patches much quicker since they dont have a middleman Sony or Microsoft standing in the way of the patch process, having to “certify” them for the platform.

This is one of the shitty things about consoles. Its just like how Google can have an Android update ready to go, but instead of Google making the update available directly to your phone, cel carriers are sitting in the middle with their big fat fingers in the pie..

  • swipe_06

I don’t understand why Dice didn’t choose to go down the easy route, and just reskin bf3 + add new content + fix this and that. Adding 2 more platforms is enough work alone. Now we have to wait 6 months or more again to iron out majority of the bugs.

    • Guest

And by the time they have the majority of issues under control, it’s BF5 time and we start the cycle again with the $60 public alpha build.

      • swipe_06

Yup. Or Battlefront. And thats a missed opportunity too, cause it could have been the game that tests out new mechanics. If people like those changes, those can make it back to the Battlefield line of games, if not then they have an excuse, cause “its not battlefield”. would have been a perfect testbed for example how people react to the new vehicle controls.

    • MegaMan3k

All the stuff happening in BF4? Just as bad, if not worse, in Ghosts.

The FPS shooter is dying because the community is demanding they become more and more bloated, and the net experience suffers because of it.

DLC comes out dec 3rd yet the patch to fix game comes later that week…(pretty much explains what EA/Dice thinks about first)

    • DerpSlayer

Shoosh. Microsoft holding up patches because they have to take their sweet time “certifying” them is out of DICE’s hands. That’s why he’s saying “hopefully by the end of the week” – because Microsoft (and to an extent Sony but they’re quicker about it) doesn’t make any guarantees to a publisher about when they’ll approve a patch.

Don’t really care when they release the patch. I just don’t get why they are still releasing DLC fully knowing that the game has issues and that some players are still having problems with the base game…

        • DerpSlayer

Because the DLC was already done. And because more than one person works at DICE, where different departments handle different things. Its a concept called multitasking.

          DERP: Slayed

      • SamRock

From what I read, MS said there wont be a need for patch certifications or lengthy checks on XBOX1. Developers can release an update whenever they wish. So not sure whats holding up the patch here

  • SangheiliSpecOp

Release half-assed game first, fill up harddrives with patches later. The DICE method.

    • MrSunshine

The every developer ever since the internet got big method.

      Fixed for accuracy.

  • Ryan Schulze

The audio on Golmud is a constant issue and, after a few days of crash free play, I had back to back days with crashes. Thought they were fixed, but the crashes came back. I’ll get the China Rising DLC for free when I put my BF4 disc back in my PS4, which could be a while. No way I’m playing for any DLC until the “issues” are fixed.

Actually, I think I’ll go back to GTA V tonight.

  • David!!

I can’t believe they’re releasing patch notes when they should be FIXING THE GAME! don’t update me when there’s netcodes, crashes, lame console controls, saved games, unsaved games, cloud storage, cloudy storages, and all that junk going on. It’s not like they use thousands of lines of code to make this mess…clean it up and send it out and don’t breathe or see your families until I get my $60 worth! – Yours Truly, the Impatient Internet

    • Alex Melendez

Dont see your families is a little overboard dont you think? Its most likely EA’s fault so blame them

      • David

That was a satire of every comment I see when DICE announces something other than the fact that they’re fixing the game. So yes it is overboard, as intended.

        • Lumberjackghost

Its EA bud DICE is not to blame get your facts right next time or don’t say anything

          • David

I’m new to the whole internet thing, please tell me this is what they call “trolling”.

            Satire –

            In case you don’t click:

Satire – the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.

In this case I was using sarcasm and a little ridicule to mostly deride the folly of the internet when they whine about EVERYTHING and are absurdly impatient.

Layman’s summary would be the following. I’m ACTING like every comment I see on this subject in order to make fun of those who say this garbage. I in fact love what Dice does and understand what an undertaking making this game on 5 platforms is, two of those being new.

Maybe he was trolling, for the sake of humanity’s average intelligence, maybe he was trolling….

  • Will Hamlett

ok so what about voice chat on ps4…that doesnt work either

    • Ryan Schulze

So it’s not just me? I only try chat with BF4 and I’ve messed with every setting, tried their earbud, my old phone earbuds, my gaming headset and I get the same result. Sometimes I hear someone for a moment or two and then the sounds goes away. Just figured my equipment had an issue or everyone consistently muted me. I was very excited for this game and still marvel at its graphical prowess, but I certainly haven’t played it nearly as much add I thought I would. Honestly, I play it about as much as I play Madden, and that game is very, very average. Resogun #1. NBA2K14 #2.

    • meds

What doesn’t work about it? I’ve seen my mic light up and heard other people talking in game.

  • These patch notes are massive!

    • SamRock

      And its 800MB! 😀

Should the change be to few EXE and DLL files? Looks like lot more has been fixed but not mentioned in the Change Log.

  • Ryan Hoffman

this is the final nail in the coffin. ps3 has not had a single fucking patch since launch and now we have to wait even longer than the dec 3 patch? are you serious dice? i mean, can we at least use lube?

  • Javon Jackson

Is it just me or since BF3 Maps were designed for 24-32 players & upsized to 64 it was more enjoyable because if you want to just kill people without having to hunt them you could, if you want to stay true to your Battlefield roots with Tanks & Choppers and large maps that never get really boring due to the higher player count.

Was BF4 made with a higher player count in mind? The gameplay I’ve seen is seems as boring as playing BF3 on 24players on PS3, I can’t understand the logic 😛

  • PS4 update has been postponed.

  • softgrip

    Maps look amaaaazing! Play poorly.

Why is this the trend? Another armored kill failure.
