Call of Duty: Ghosts – Infinity Ward Outlines Incoming eSports Improvements

Infinity Ward aims to improve competitive Call of Duty with a number of incoming updates to hit Call of Duty: Ghosts in the coming weeks.

In a recent forum update on the game’s official website, Infinity Ward senior community manager Tina Palacios outlined a number of tweaks and updates currently in the works at the studio, which the team plans “to roll out as soon as possible to support competitive Call of Duty based on your feedback.”

“These will appear as both hot fixes and TUs in the coming weeks alongside planned changes to the areas of Ghosts affecting all players, such as spawns,” she writes. “Regarding eSports specifically in the immediate future, we aim to:”

  • Restrict Ghillie suits in competitive rules.
  • Restrict Tracker Sights in competitive rules.
  • Restrict Danger Close in competitive rules.
  • Disable third-person spectating in competitive Private Matches.
  • Add a kill feed to Broadcaster mode.
  • Address Broadcaster mode stability (squash crash bugs).

“Additionally, we’re committed to delivering the below (in no particular order):”

  • Removal of split-screen in Private match when eSports rules are enabled.
  • Add eSports rules to Clan vs. Clan playlist.
  • Open Clan v Clan playlist to allow solo player entry & mixed clan teams.
  • Modify Dead Silence/Amplify functionality.

  • Resolve the defuse timer animation discrepancy.
  • Modify the defuse time sound effects if the defuse process is cancelled.

Broadcaster Mode:

  • Add game action overlays where needed (flag captures, etc.).
  • Resolve the leaderboard’s red death indicator delay.
  • Roll over player in scoreboard to highlight arrow in mini-map.

New Platform:

  • Investigating the addition of Xbox One LAN support.

See anything you like? Affecting everyone is the addition of eSports rules to Clan vs. Clan playlists, as well as a fix that will now allow solo player entry and mixed clan teams in Clan Wars.

Restrict Ghillie suits in competitive rules.

Haha, this can’t be serious. There’s nothing wrong with the Ghillie suits in the game.

    Modify Dead Silence/Amplify functionality.

That’s good to hear. Amplify users are so annoying to deal with. Dead Silence doesn’t counter Amplify so you’re constantly exposed when moving. I don’t understand why IW design Amplify to counter Dead Silence when the S&D community was demanding them to revert Sitrep Pro changes near the end of MW3. Like Stopping Power and Juggernaut, it’s better off removing sound awareness and sound reduction perks from future titles to remove the added burden of balancing sound.

Of course there is something that is wrong with the suits. It makes it appear as if the player has bigger arms, bigger legs, bigger head, bigger everything. This then makes it cheap to use because you may think you’re shoting the guy, but you actually aren’t. Also, they are kind of hard to see at times.

I only see the last part as a reason of being banned. Heavy uniforms can do that as well.

      • Jesse Martinez

Ive never had a problem shooting them

As much as I do use Dead silence and Amplify, I really can’t wait to see some nerf of both of them. I feel like I rely too much on them both incase anyone else does use them, since if they’re coming around a corner you can prepare yourself to easily kill them. I just feel like it’s the best ears which win most fights now; make them next to useless and then the fights will resume their even ways(ish) once more.

I would say the need to fix Custom game saving and loading of default classes in Private matches before they start pushing more changes for the esports settings. It’s been bugged for more than two weeks, Host can’t load saved games and have the settings apply to the game once it starts!

  • Jesse Martinez

What they should fix is raised the operations xp , and give you clan xp on clan wars

    • justin

Agreed. No Clan XP on Clan Wars is pretty irritating. My clan plays 60-70% of its matches during Clan Wars so we get penalized on our Clan Rank.

To bad no one listens there (activision) is to bussy trying to push out a patch for these esports tournament that the majority of us can care less

Can they please fix the dogs…. 5 hits to kill him when he bites my arm and I die…I think not

  • marcus

    Id like to see:
    1: Bring back knife camos!
2: Fix the damn dogs. Teleporting into my arm from 5 meters away, and no way to counter, total crap. And insta-spin is no bueno.

i didnt even think this game had a competitive scene. its pretty much dead on pc, dont know how many on console, but blops2 seems like the better game.

Totally off subject from competitive gaming but, please bring back the reset stats option. The dumbest thing you could have done was take that away. So Tina Palacios please do something about this soon. Or talk to someone that can do something about it.
