Report – Destiny Beta Content Revealed, Features 4 Story Chapters, 4 Crucible Maps, and 1 Strike

Destiny‘s official Beta is quickly approaching, launching this Thursday, July 17, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and making its way to Xbox One and Xbox 360 users on Wednesday, July 23.

New details have surfaced that allegedly clear up what sort of content will be available in the upcoming Beta. According to Reddit user zebruh, a small blurb found in letters sent to GameStop managers containing marketing and content information claims the beta will feature “four story chapters, four competitive multiplayer maps, a cooperative Strike, and a huge world to explore with your own unique Guardian.”

It appears to be more packed than Destiny’s First Look Alpha, including new locations. Judging by last week’s news, the four Crucible maps are Shores of Time (Venus), Rusted Lands (Earth), Blind Watch (Mars), and First Light (Earth’s Moon).

We also happen to have a few Beta codes for all platforms to give away throughout the week. Get the details here.

Looks like there’ll be plenty to do Bungie’s offering later this month. We’ll see you online!

and for some stupid reason I still find it hard to care for this game the strange thing is everything I enjoy in FPS games is in destiny I just don’t get why I am not excited for it. I loved the loot system in borderlands 2 I love arena based MP and I love playing stuff with my friends. This game feels like something I have to play to believe right now it kinda sounds to good to be true I think I am just gonna pre order it even if I am not excited for it

    • Did you get a chance to play the Alpha. It seems like people didn’t really start *caring* for the game until after having sunk some time into the Alpha. It’s one of those, ‘you have to play it,’ sort of things.

      • imran

no I didn’t play the alpha. and yea that’s what a lot of people have said to me you have to play it to believe and if that’s the case then I might just pre order the game I really need something to play on my PS4

      • NinoBr0wn

I played the alpha, and I don’t even feel any kind of vibe from the game. The alpha actually pushed me in the other direction. Everything felt so dull and straightforward. I was telling a friend it’s weird how I was disappointed that the new Borderlands is on old consoles, but here Destiny is, very similar to Borderlands in many ways, yet it was so boring for me. I’m really really hoping the beta shows me something that has somehow been laying low, because ever since they started showing gameplay, I’ve yet to see anything that lives up to the hype or amazing universe that it’s been said to be.

        • MrMultiPlatform

The only thing that’s similar between Borderlands and Destiny is you have a gun in your hand. Yet you’ll buy the BF & CoD copy and paste games.

        • Mike

Cant wait for Borderlands and Destiny. These are my 2 priority games, along with The Last of Us.

        • guest

I’m totally with you. Defend this objective from enemies, take out all the enemies here, collect this material while killing enemies. There was no sense of exploration or story. It left kind of a sour taste in my mouth. I’ll wait for a review of the full game.

      • George

I was skeptical until I played the Alpha and then I got hooked so yeah, that’s basically how it works.

    • thatoneguy

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that a lot of past games we’ve gotten our hopes up for we’ve been let down severely. So we’re not getting super giddy about games so much just playing kind of passive.

    • Robert Taylor

If you are on ps4 tweet me and ill hook you up with a beta code. Ill have two extras

    • Spectre01N7

It really is a unique and fun experience, I’ve been saying this game is gonna be awesome when it was first announced, I didn’t start to believe myself until I got an alpha key. It the most fun I’ve had in a fps in a long time. Trust me, it’s something to be excited for. Regards.

    What a strike?

    • MrMultiPlatform

      A 3 man dungeon.

  • MR_H0RNY

More interested to see how the story chapters and co-operative strikes play out than the multiplayer competitive maps.

    • Mike

Yeah I’m all about the story co-op. Curious to see what the fuss is all about.

    • Spectre01N7

I agree, I wonder if this story is gonna be the main game or is it largely gonna be competitive multiplayer. I’ll do both, but I’m really looking forward to the campaign.

I’m on the fence with this. I have a code and I want to play it but for some dumb reason I hate being spoiled. I didnt get to play the alpha so of course I’m chomping at the bit. I’m buying it either way.

    • Spectre01N7

Just play the multiplayer, or go on strikes and avoid campaign stuff.

  • theplantain

not sure if i’ll play the story stuff…don’t want it spoiled

    • Samson

Then you shouldn’t be playing a beta, finagling

    • Sams0n

Then don’t play the beta? Pretty simple really.

  • Destiny Beta required new patch, alpha is no longer functional now , so download it and enjoy the Bea version

  • Download new patch for destiny Beta old one “Alpha” is no longer functional..

    • NinoBr0wn

How do I download a patch for the beta when it’s not even available yet?

      • Spectre01N7

        This seems like spam
