Evolve Big Alpha Postponed on PlayStation 4, Affected Users Get Free Access to Xbox One or PC Version

PlayStation 4 users anxious to try out Turtle Rock Studios’ 4v1 shooter Evolve for the first time are out of luck as technical issues involving the console’s latest firmware update 2.00 have urged the studio to postpone the Big Alpha, originally scheduled to launch today.

“We have some unfortunate news to share with folks planning to participate in the Big Alpha test on PlayStation 4 starting today,” Turtle Rock posted in an update on Evolve’s official website. “Following the recent PS4 2.00 firmware update, we are experiencing difficulties with the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4. As a result, the test on PlayStation 4 is postponed. PlayStation and 2K are working together on a resolution.”

For now, things are still going as planned for Xbox One and PC users, so the studio is offering any PlayStation 4 user with either console guaranteed access to the Alpha while a proper solution is worked towards.

If, you happen to have either kicking around, Turtle Rock urges you to follow these steps:

  1. Go to http://www.evolvegame.com/bigalpha
  2. Fill out the form completely including the registration code, referral code, and a valid email
  3. Check your email for an official invite with your product voucher code
  4. Redeem the product voucher code on the platform of your choice to download the game
  5. Registration Code: 05379-29749-32069

  • That guy you might know

“Hey the PS4 version isn’t working right now, ditch it and play on the other systems.”

I know they’re trying to sort things out but that seems stupid to say, especially since there are numerous amounts of people who don’t own PCs and Xbox Ones with those PS4s.

    • The Alpha is a limited time event and they don’t know how long it’s going to take to fix the issue. That’s the best they can do right now so for those fortunate they still have a chance to play this alpha. It’s not the players fault, but it’s not the team’s fault their beta isn’t playing nice with software that’s brought about issues for other things as well… an unforseen issue.

I am so sick of owning a PS4. This type of crap just keeps happening.

    • MrMultiPlatform

      Trade it in then.

I have been playing online all night on ps4 without issue. Maybe you need to plug in your dial up and it would work.

      • LongJohn

        Pretty mature response dude.
DriveClub, it’s PS+ Edition and how many problems PSN had in general is what he’s refering to, which is pretty much not acceptable. No real reason to shit-talk.

  • Daniel

It doesnt work on PC either. Couldn’t find a single player. Just saying :/

  • spartanelite

Well that suck but I can’t help remembering the BF :HL beta when we on xbox got the shaft

    • Yeah but this alpha is likely still coming to PS4. It’s not intentionally withheld from the platform like the BF Hartline one was

  • Mr Layco

Played one round of this on xbox one, won’t be playing another. Just doesn’t play well in my opinion, at least it’s saved wasting my hard earned dosh on it.

    • That guy you might know

      What’s wrong with it exactly?

This is how Evolve will fail. Every round I have seen played the monster is to underpowered compared to hunters. That needs to be addressed. In my opinion the hunters need zero respawns. They are very resilient to damage and have very good revive mechanics. There is no need to have a respawns system. That will be heavily exploited.

Also having no respawns would make people play together which is going to be a huge problem in this game.
