Microsoft Pulls Copycat PUBG Ad Originally Created by Redditor

Two months ago, Redditor Macsterr posted an incredibly smart PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG ) ad concept depicting the player walking through one of the many wheat fields in the game on top of an Xbox One S in anticipation for the upcoming release of the PUBG on Microsoft‘s platform.

You know how they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Maybe not in this case. Macsterr noticed something peculiar about Microsoft’s latest PUBG ad campaign since, well, y’know, Microsoft’s ad was practically a ripoff of Macsterr’s. Nope, not even joking. Check it below to see for yourself.

A day later Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry ‘ MajorNelson’ Hryb announced in response to the Reddit thread that the ad was being pulled from all official platforms and that the issue was being investigated internally.

Well, at least Macsterr knows his stuff is good enough to be used by billion-dollar corporations, no? Just maybe, ask permission or pay the man first before cribbing his work?

Don’t forget, there’s a new PUBG update out now, which you can read about the changes here.
