Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.06 Announced, All Patch Notes So Far, and More

Update (Dec, 9th): Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.06 Now Live on PS3 and 360

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has revealed what’s been fixed in Modern Warfare 3 thus far and what to expect in terms of patches and hotfixes in the near future.

Robert Bowling has posted, on the official Call of Duty forums, all the patch notes of the first five title updates. Also, he reveals what patch 1.06 (title update #6) will address. Unfortunately, there’s no ETA on when patch 1.06 will go live. However, we now know what the team behind MW3 is working on beyond the upcoming  patch.

Keep in mind, patches have to go through Sony and Microsoft’s certification processes in order to be available to download on your console; meanwhile, hotfixes can be pushed at any time without the need to be downloaded.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Patches 1.01-1.05)
  1. Enabled Theater, Vault, Private Match options, Elite and Facebook functionality for Launch Day.
  2. Fix for YouTube video upload on SD TVs. Matchmaking Improvements.
  3. Theater Improvements (Fix to FF and RW in Theater), LAG improvements, Improvements to Hot Fix system.
  4. Change to address hitching and lag in gameplay.
  5. Further improvements for hitching and addressing lag in gameplay.
Hot Fix Updates
  • No Recoil glitch
  • Infinite Laptop killstreak glitch (Stealth Bomber Glitch)
  • Map Exploits (Getting into trucks, under maps) Fix
  • Prevent Slow-mo and Super Fast lobbies
Patch 1.06

Additional improvements to address lag. Fix for Melee Jump. Clan Tag Validation (remove buttons from clan tags). Improve Host Migration logic. Prevent stat Loss.

  • Weapon Rebalancing (Dual FMG-9, Type-95, CM-901 Attachments)
  • Hitmarker Sound on Ps3
  • Reticle fix for certain weapons.
Feedback in Discussion
  • Updates to the Spawn system
  • Further “lag compensation” or “host advantage / disadvantage” updates plus ability for on-going hot fixes based on feedback.
  • Default :30 Round Start timer for System Link only, while looking into adjustable timer for System Link games for Competitive Play.
  • Options to allow System Link players to ‘unlock all’ for competitive play in System Link only.

  • hmmm how about you oh i dont know add something to the game atleast to spec ops up to 50? hey infinity ward add more attachments guns enemies ETC. or some offline multiplayer bots if not im done with mw3

    Glad to see the weapon balances, I really appreciate that. I wouldn’t mind them fixing the extended mags = extra damage on the Striker when they get the opportunity as well.

        I didn’t say nerf them all. I just said I wouldn’t mind if they changed the bonuses of the Extra Mags proficiency on the Striker. Without that change, there is absolutely no reason to ever use a different shotgun besides completing the challenges. The Striker may not be OP in terms of the entire game, but it’s not even fair to compare it to the other shotguns.

          I know the striker is the best shotgun out there and the 50% increase in buckshot with ext. mags really helps all shotguns, which are weaker/inconsistent.  I enjoy using shotguns and would hate to see them take away that added benefit.  They are powerful up close, but at range they are useless, so you do sacrifice something by using them.  The smg’s are just about as effective up close and some pretty good long range too.

      That’s just part of the game.  It’s not getting abused as much as the FMG’s are.  The Proficiency is there for a reason, so a lot of people love it.  If I was a avid shotgunner, I’d be in love.  It’s in the game.  I can understand if they tweak the proficiency, but not the gun.

      It’s just the normal process.  We won’t know of course until it happens, but it’s pretty much a OHK from anywhere close to high mid range shots if you hit at least 2 in the chest.  And when you add Rapid Fire, forget it lol.  

      Yes it’s a beast of a gun, but we all have to come to the conclusion that it’s semi over powered with the OHK ratio.  We’ll see what happens.

  • So they’re nerfing the Type-95 that already takes 2/3 bursts close range on a crap connection (which is often 90% of the time because they STILL haven’t fixed the game)… damn, way to make the game even worse Inifinity Ward. You really wonder why it has a less than 3/10 from users.

    Yeah weapon balance is at a perfect time right now.  Games been out for almost a month now so everyone has a feel for mostly each gun.  I love the Type 95, but I won’t mind it being balanced as there are so many other weapons I can use and love just the same.  

    Also with the dual FMG’s… holy crap is the dual Models from MW2 all over again lol.  Thankfully their are acting on this as soon as possible.  

    And lastly, thank god for Hot Fixes.  What a great addition to a great game that kinda really needs it.  So much going on, so much can get exploited.  Glad to see improvements made in the patch process.  Power to the devs!

    Out of all the guns the shotguns are the weakest of all classes, I,m a shotgunner and love the Model 1887, this shotgun is a hit or miss single shot shotgun, thats why it takes skills and time to master.   but I think some things has to be done to it , like increase the range a tad bit and slightly give it more power..    The only shotgun that felt perfectly balanced to this day is still the M1014 shotgun from COD4 …   But honestly I want you guys to fix the lag issues thats plaguing MW3 ..just leave the game as is, no nerfing guns or anything of that nature… fix the lag thats all, when I lose a match I feel i got robbed because the people I played with had the better connection, in actuality they didn’t beat me but the game did .     This game could be a perfect game if it wasn’t for the lag.

    One thing that bugs me is that the AA12 with extendedags only adds like 3 extra bullets, when every other shotgun it nearly doubles the clip c’mon now. And please make the shot guns stronger also. I hate losing a pointblank fight with the other guy using a assault rifle and me having a pump shotgun or semi.

    Counted death for being team killed
    audio and mic issues
    M16… What the hell happened.. This was ALWAYS a one hitter quitter in HC and now it is not always.. I don’t understand your logic IW.. 

    PLEASEEEE for all that is good and holy, fix the team killing in HC SnD… This was an issue 5 years ago.. Why did it creep back in now? FIX IT!

      Amen on the M16. If they don’t adjust the damage, they need to reduce the time between bursts.

      Totally agree about the team kills counting as deaths. Black Ops did this right. If your idiot teammate killed you … it didn’t count as a death.

    Another point is the Possibility to disable the Respawntime on Hardcore.

        That in itself was flawed too, especially if you were in a party. There needs to be a forgive or punish system.


    How about the option to turn off music. Its terrible, distracting and such a common feature found in every other game.

      LOL what about the ability to set the Privacy of ur party instead of it always being invite only, and what about audio selections. Headsets, surround, TV and so on. They are just lazy

    How about reducing the amount of screen shaking that occurs when a stealth bomber flies by?  It seems a little excessive to me, like a 10.0 earthquake or something.  I guess we can’t have everything though.

    fmg 9 akimbo and akimbo general need a big nerf it ruins the game pumpguns are good as they are not so strong it also require no rly aim to kill soimeone in my opinion i hate the stalker boys. nerf the mp7 with steady aim and and specialist killstreak wtf but way not so horrible as other akimbo wapons

    in my opinion just add a “no wapon attatchment” rule in barebones so everybody who hate that horrible op akimbos and so on can join barebones without having killsteaks and akimbos because akimbo is an wapon atatchment or add a playmod like “moshpit esl rules” that would be fantastic and a lot of people would play it definetly, so the pros can play vs pros and nabs vs nabs so the nabs are not so disapointed by getting raped by mutch better players and fear getting killed which possible reduce the sitting in the corner camper guys with the akimbos

    I think the issue of weapon balance could be easily dealt with by adding selective fire to their respective weapons. By adding single and burst fire modes to other weapons you take the edge away from weapons like the Type 95.  Does anybody remember the game “Firearms” a mod for Half-Life back in the day?? That game was my favorite FPS ever, best selection of weapons and attachments, most realistic and detailed in the combat department. Fantastic.

  • Ok now the patch is there for all PS3 gamers of MW3 as it describes it will solve the issue that players are facing right now but if  they face problem again they definitely quit playing it.

    Weapon re-balance never happened but they have more things to fix than weapons that dominate the maps…


    they need to fix the reaper glitch where you cant call it in because” air space is too crowed” when there is nothing up….o man that shit gets annoying

    Fix the KSG.  I don’t get how the strongest shotgun is the worst in the game.  The time it takes to pump the shotgun could be cut down a little bit as well to make it somewhat practical in combat.

    Please fix the vault feature, if you edit a match and place it in your vault and then view it, it skips to the last frame of the clip and does not allow you to rewind or anything. It just stays there.

    So u can fix fun little harmless glitches, but u can fix my k/d going waaaaaay down cause of the ACR
    ! And whats the big deal about “Map Exploits”, u can only do them in private maches (Not enough time to do them in a real game. Plus it doesnt help them do any better or worse.
