Report: New Titanfall Battle Royale Game to Be Released This Coming Monday, Will Be F2P (Update)

Update:

To further add to this rumor’s legitimacy, it seems EA has trademarked “Apex Legend” and yep, you guessed it, for “computer game software.” Odds are, we’ll get a trailer later soon or something, which we’ll post if ever we do.

Original Story:

Who doesn’t like megaton rumors? Well, it seems we have one now and this one seems to be legit, too. Multiple reports have now surfaced that a new Titanfall game is set to be announced and released very soon. How soon? Try releasing-this-Monday soon!

Said to be titled “Apex Legends,” this new Titanfall game will be one that’s based on battle royale! Yes, a Titanfall battle royale game is said to be coming this Monday, and what’s more, it’ll be free-to-play!

Apparently, YouTubers and streamers have already played the game, with Rod Breslau, eSports insider spilling the beans on Twitter.

His full set of tweets are as follows:

Sources who have played and have knowledge of the game confirm to me that Respawn is set to announce and release Apex Legends on Monday Feb 4, a free to play Titanfall Hero Battle Royale game for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Apex Legends will feature classes/heroes with unique abilities, maximum of 60 players per server, maximum of 3 players per team (trios) to compliment each other. No titans. Just as Titanfall and Titanfall 2, Apex Legends will run on a modified version of Valve’s Source engine.

Micro-transactions and lootboxes for cosmetic items and in-game content are said to be in Apex Legends with a very similar approach to that in Overwatch.

If that wasn’t enough, YouTuber TheQuartering (via ComicBook) has also mentioned the same details: that we’re getting a Titanfall battle royale game, it’ll be F2P, and will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Once we get official confirmation, or gameplay, we’ll be sure to let readers know. If this is indeed true, which it seems to be given it’s been mentioned by EA that Respawn would be releasing two games in 2019 (the other one has been confirmed to be the Star Wars game), this is one heck of a surprise from Respawn and EA. Let’s hope the quality is on the same level of Titanfall 2, and if its, we’re in for a treat.

Wonder if it will challenge Fortnight’s micro-transaction model? :/

YAAAAAAAWN. Titanfall wanted to stand out with it’s combat, now it’s just going to twist it to be like Fortnite, desperately clinging to it’s success. This isn’t good news, this is EA having very little faith in Respawn to make a good product. Without following lame trends. This is where it starts to spiral down for Respawn. Calling it now.

TF2 singleplayer was incredible, but this is just another BR app where the real product is the digital Costco built into it and all of it was quickly crapped out in a few months, so no one caught wind of it. Hell even PUBG was shat out by a few people and if you pump out 1/10th of the cost of a real AAA games behind it then you get something that looks like polished turd like COD’s new scam. All these BR apps are low investment cash cows because they are marketed as being high quality when they aren’t but could be so much more than just a single map and one-trick-pony “game mechanics” to funnel players into another EA store.

People supporting these mobile models buy shopping malls, not games.
