The Callisto Protocol: Striking Distance Spent Years Developing Gore System, Hopes It Becomes a Franchise

The Callisto Protocol pc requirements

With development led by the mind behind Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol has a lot of eyes on its release later this year. The science-fiction horror game has shown a lot of impressive elements, and in a new interview with the director of Striking Distance Studio Greg Schofield, he has given some more details on The Callisto Protocol gore system and other aspects.

The interview itself comes from IGN and was posted to YouTube in an eight-minute video that is packed with interesting bits of information. One of the most eye-catching was the claim that Striking Distance has spent years developing The Callisto Protocol gore system. Gore can play a massive role in setting the tone of horror games, so much so that the game even re-released a trailer without the gore removed to give players a better idea of what to expect when the title launches.

During the interview, Schofield also discusses how the game has a linear structure with smaller paths built into sections to allow players to freely explore and navigate the ship. He also talks briefly about the studio’s in-house performance capture studio that helped the studio reach the incredible animations that have been shown in the game thus far. And, if you’re worried that The Callisto Protocol will be a one-and-done deal, he also talks about the studio’s hopes that it will be the start of a brand new franchise.

The Callisto Protocol releases on December 2 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
