How to Get a Nuke in COD Warzone 2.0

how to get nuke in warzone 2

In case you didn’t know, there’s not only a nuke streak available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, butt here’s also one in Warzone 2.0! The mystery behind how to get a nuke in Warzone 2 has been revealed after streamers achieved a world’s first earlier this week. Here’s how to get a nuke in Warzone 2.0!

How to Get a Nuke in Warzone 2:

Unlike in Modern Warfare 2, unlocking the tactical Nuke in Warzone 2 does not require you get to get 30 connective weapon kills in one life. However, that doesn’t make it easier, as the steps to get one require quite a bit. We have outlined each step that players must take down below.

Step One – Win 5 Warzone Matches in a Row

The first thing you’ll have to do is get five wins in a row in Warzone. You didn’t read that wrong; you must win a battle royal match five times in a row. For many, this will probably be the most challenging of all the steps, as you’re competing against another 100 players (99 for duos, 97 for trios, 96 for quad). Good luck with this one; you are going to need it!

Step Two – Complete the Champion’s Quest

Once you’ve got your five wins and begin the next match, you’ll get a notification saying the champion’s quest is now available. Looking at the tac map, you’ll see three Warzone 2 icons on the map. Go to any of them and initiate the mission.

Once the mission has started, you’ll be tasked with locating components for the nuke within a set time limit. There are three total, and they are time-gated, so you’ll have to wait for each one to show up. They also spawn randomly to prevent players from getting them quickly.

Once a location is revealed, you’ll travel to it and find a blue box with a nuke icon. Pick it up, and repeat the step for the remaining two components. One thing to keep in mind is that as soon as you pick up a component, you will be marked on the map as “most wanted” for the duration of the match, so prepare to be hunted.

Once you’ve gotten all three components, you’ll need to wait for the bomb site to be revealed. During this time, a jailbreak will be initiated. Any player that was previously dead will be revived for another chance of winning the royal, though they’ll most likely be focused on trying to stop the squad from initiating the nuke.

When the bomb site is revealed, you’ll be given five minutes to reach it. You’ll be on the final steps of the Champion’s Quest.

Step Three – Assemble the Nuke, Defend it, and Win the Game.

With the five-minute timer still counting down, at the bomb site, you’ll need to arm the nuke and defend the location, similar to a Search and Destroy match. That means other nearby players will come after you, hoping to deny you a nuke. If you successfully defend the location, the nuke will be launched, winning the match.

What Do You Get for Triggering a Nuke in Warzone 2.0?

Aside from bragging rights, players will also be getting a nuke sticker and weapon charm for completing this Herculean task! Check out what it looks like below (via Jake):

There you have it; that is how you get a nuke in Warzone 2. We’re relieved they made it difficult, as most players will likely find it hard to win five matches in a row. That, and the added difficulties from the quest line itself. All we can say is good luck because you’ll need it.

Does teaming up in trios block the nuke attempt? We won 7 in a row and the champions quest never popped up. We teamed up every time. So wasn’t sure if it gets blocked if you team up?
