Need for Speed Payback Won’t Feature Toyota Vehicles

Here’s an odd turn of events. Toyota, one of the biggest and most famous car makers in the world, won’t have their cars in EA’s upcoming Need for Speed Payback. Yep, that is not a typo, but all Toyota vehicles — past or present — won’t be in Need for Speed Payback.

In a post on the Need for Speed subreddit, a verified employee from developer Ghost Games has confirmed it.

In case you can’t read the embedded post, it reads:

We know the subject of Toyota is on a lot of minds over the last few weeks. As many of you here suspect, there will be no Toyota cars in Need for Speed Payback. While we’re as disappointed as you are, we do hope that we’ll once again see Toyota back in Need for Speed in the future.

Need for Speed Payback won’t be the first racing game to have some sort of Toyota fallout. Microsoft’s flagship racing game, Forza 7, won’t feature road production vehicles in the game as well.

Is it a contract dispute? Toyota not wanting to have their cars be part of games anymore? We don’t know for sure, but once we do, we’ll let you know.

Is this a deal-breaker for Need for Speed fans? Or will you be alright given the game’s extensive list of cars available? Need for Speed Payback will race its way out this November 10 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
