Facebook Gaming Creator Program Is Live, Here’s How to Apply

Facebook has officially kicked off its new Gaming Creator program, and is welcoming new applicants to use to the service.

Compared to Twitch, the Gaming Creator program has the advantage of already having access to the Facebook community. It should, at least in theory, make it easier for creators to be discovered.

Here are the four main focus points of the Gaming Creator program:

  • Helping gaming creators build more meaningful and more engaged communities on Facebook than anywhere else
  • Increasing discovery and distribution across multiple surfaces, including Facebook.com, Instagram and Oculus
  • Supporting gaming creators with the types of tools they need to make a living streaming games on Facebook
  • Building a platform where creators at every level have the opportunity to thrive

With Facebook Live, you can broadcast playing your favorite games for the world to see. We can’t wait to discover the amazing videos you create and the global community that you build. With over 2 billion people on Facebook and innovative creative tools at your fingertips, there are unlimited possibilities for you here.

As for how it works, here are the technical details for getting the streams set up:

Live Streaming Games

Use Facebook Live to stream the action while you play, while reaching and engaging your Facebook friends and fellow gamers. Follow these steps to get started:

  • Go to facebook.com/live/create > select Create Live Stream.
  • Choose where you want your live stream to appear (such as your profile or a page that you manage). Click Next.
  • Copy and paste the server URL and/or stream key into the settings of your streaming software. If you need help choosing a streaming software, you can find options including OBS or XSplit in our Help Docs. (Note: Please don’t share your stream key. Anyone who has access to it can stream video to your post and you don’t want that.)
  • Use your streaming software to start streaming. You will see a preview screen of your stream on Facebook where the server URL and stream key are displayed.
  • Name your stream, identify the game you’re playing, and add a description to let your viewers know what to expect from your stream.
  • Click Go Live. Now you’re live!

If this sounds like something you’d want to get involved with, head here to apply.
