Who doesn’t want to be able to play with their friends regardless of platform, right? This rings more true for something like Borderlands 3, which focuses on co-op play against hordes of enemies. Unfortunately, Borderlands 3 cross play won’t be available at launch, and that’s now confirmed.
Over on Twitter (via PCGamer), Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has squashed murmurs that tomorrow’s big Borderlands 3 announcement will be a Borderlands 3 cross play confirmation.
Some folks may be speculating that this thing tomorrow may be about cross play. Tomorrow’s thing is awesome, but *not* about cross-play. But, Good News: We are committed to supporting cross-play for Borderlands 3 with our partners as soon as practicable after launch. #talklater https://t.co/XtUzrBpySP

#talklaterTo be clear, there will not be any cross-play functionality in Borderlands 3 at launch as we work closely with our partners to create a positive cross-play experience as soon as practicable. We are committed to cross-play on as many platforms as possible.
Let’s hope that this happens soon — especially since other games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have been confirmed to be doing this at launch.
