Cyberpunk 2077 Sells 13 Million Copies According to CD Projekt Red

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.11 January 28

Despite numerous complaints and performance issues that have plagued the game since it launched more than a week ago, it appears Cyberpunk 2077 has still sold quite a lot of units — with about 13 million copies sold according to CD Projekt Red’s estimates during an investors meeting held recently.

Here the transcript of the statement courtesy of the company themselves.

“[CDPR] hereby announces that, based on reports obtained from digital distribution platforms and data collected from physical distributors, it estimates that by 20 December inclusive gamers have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077,” the company said. “This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts), i.e. the “sell-through” figure, less all refund requests e-mailed directly to the Company by the publication date of this report in the framework of the ‘Help Me Refund’ campaign.”

Despite selling big and pulling in numbers, Cyberpunk 2077 has had a messy launch thanks to the numerous bugs and glitches that have been spotted in the game, and are most prevalent in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. As a result CD Projekt Red has issued an apology to gamers  — promising fixes to come periodically with updates but at the same time also accepting refunds for the game. PlayStation has since pulled the game off the PlayStation Store and has also accepted refunds, which were followed shortly by Xbox and GameStop as well.
