Dynasty Warriors Movie Trailer Released, Arrives in China and Hong Kong Theaters This April

Dynasty Warriors Movie

One of the most well-known hack and slash video game franchises will finally see a big screen adaptation hit Chinese theaters this year, as the long awaited Dynasty Warriors movie based on the popular Koei Tecmo franchise has a trailer released — with the film arriving in China and Hong Kong theaters this April.

Here’s the video game based film’s trailer — which blends live-action and CGI into a glorious battle frenzy that’ll get Dynasty Warrior fans in a frenzy!

Dynasty Warriors is based on the popular Koei Tecmo video game series of the same name that started life as a fighting game in the original PlayStation release before evolving into the hack and slash game we know today. That began with the release of Dynasty Warriors 2 — which is better known as Shin Sangokumusou in its native Japan and carried the gameplay formula that many associate the series with. The games are based off the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novels that are based on Chinese history, and the film adaptation in particular will cover the Yellow Turban Rebellion period.

Dynasty Warriors has long had a turbulent development history before it finally getting filmed in 2017. The movie was actually supposed to come out in 2019, but it was pulled without explanation and never showed up again in release calendars until now. The film will be released in China on April 30 — but no western release has been scheduled yet.

While Dynasty Warriors prepares for its big screen debut in China, another Koei Tecmo property in Ninja Gaiden will be getting a Master Edition collection that arrives for consoles and PC this June.
