It has been announced by Saber Interactive that Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered won’t launch with multiplayer. Saber Interactive has apologised, but insists that the feature needs reworking before they’re happy for it to be distributed to players.

Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered is set to launch on October 4, 2019 for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The remaster brings the title up to date visually for modern consoles, and will include a brand new multiplayer feature as a free update after it releases.

The original Ghostbusters The Video Game had a multiplayer element that took place outside of the main campaign. In these missions teams of up to four players worked together to defeat and capture ghosts, culminating in a boss battle. There was a lot of variety within these missions, with many side quests available as well, but they won’t be appearing in the remaster.

While Saber Interactive hasn’t confirmed what this new multiplayer element to Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered will look like, we can at least rest easy knowing that it’s in safe hands. Saber Interactive is the developer behind World War Z, which is quite a phenomenal cooperative shooter. In World War Z missions take place over several locations, often moving players between areas that are connected with claustrophobic corridors. In addition, the enemy AI is second to none in terms of large swarms, so it may be that Saber Interactive wants to put their own spin on the game by introducing hordes of ghosts to fight.
