Halo Infinite Delayed to 2021

Halo TV Series

Bad news, Halo fans! 343 Industries has announced today that Halo Infinite, which was originally set for release this holiday, has been pushed back to 2021! The Halo Infinite delayed announcement came with a letter from studio boss Chris Lee.

Read on for the letter, and sadly, there’s no mention of a new release date or specific window in 2021 on when Halo Infinite will be released.

Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision.

The decision to shift our release is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained commited to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.

We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years have been icredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this hoiday. The extra time will let us finish teh critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect.

Thank you for your support and understandg,

Chris Lee

Studio Head, Halo Infinite

I can’t say this wasn’t expect. I mean, I know Lee touched on the COVID-19 pandemic as the main cause, but I kind of have a hunch that the recent backlash against the game’s visuals might have had something to contribute to that too.

At least, this delay means the chances of us getting a Halo Infinite beta will be more likely.

I see the babies whining about the easily fixable problems got their way. Hopefully they don’t ditch the art style, it’s miles ahead of that terrible 4/5 stuff. Oh well, a delay can’t hurt a game. Unless it’s a lot of delays. Big issue now is Microsoft is lacking that “big” title for launch, that’ll impact sales a bit if they don’t replace it or have something else planned.

It’s all about GamePass for Microsoft. Full library of mediocre games you can play. Enjoy the “fillers” as they say.

Good thing Nintendo is making decent games still. Other than that, hyperbole at best. I mean it when I say babies caused this. A critical eye can see the game is functioning fine bar some graphical bugs. Sadly, people took a few things that needed touch ups and lumped it in with the art style. Thank every developer ever circle jerking the uncanny valley for the past 7 years for that.
