Since its original announcement, the Minecraft update 1.20 never really had a name, at least, until now. Minecraft 1.20’s name is “Trails & Tales,” with the update focusing on exploring the world of Minecraft and its mysterious past.

The name was announced in Minecraft Monthly, a new series that will cover everything Minecraft-related across all of its titles in a news-like format. You can check it out below:

The 1.20 update is all about self expression, specifically self expression through representation, story telling, and world building. And, it’s the journey – your trails – that ties it all together. The Minecraft worlds belong to the players – and so do the stories, or tales, about those worlds.

Alongside the name announcement, Minecraft Monthly also went over recent news regarding Mojang’s other titles, including Minecraft Dungeons, which is coming to PlayStation Plus, and Minecraft Legends, with its April 18 launch.

Despite saving the name reveal till the very end, this Minecraft Monthly didn’t give any update on 1.20’s release date. As such, we still have no clue when it’ll come out, but with more and more snapshots and betas featuring 1.20’s additions, we may get more information some time in the near future.
