Mortal Kombat 11 Battle Pass Surfaces in Datamine, Ash Removed From Game Files

mortal kombat 11 kombat pack 2

With the Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath update now out on PC, data miners have managed to take a look at the files and have discovered some new information suggesting that a Mortal Kombat 11 Battle Pass system is being considered by the studio.

This news comes from trusty data-miner Thethiny, who posted an image of the code found within this recent update.

Do mind that just because it’s been added to the game code does not mean it will be released. Still, the introduction of a Mortal Kombat 11 Battle Pass system could be a nice way to keep content flowing for Mortal Kombat 11, as fans have spoken in the past about the title not receiving enough content drops. Whether it’ll be a seasonal paid type of pass, or free (like Doom Eternal) is yet to be seen.

And while staying on the subject of data mine material, Thethiny has also verified that NetherRealms has quietly removed any mention of Ash being in the game files, nor have they added any additional characters with this update.

For those unaware, Ash, as in Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series was originally part of the Mortal Kombat 11 first data mine and has appeared constantly in other updates. Two months back we reported on him appearing in the official newsletter from the company, seemingly confirming the original leak. However, it has been heavily rumored this last month that due to RoboCop making a guest appearance, Ash from Evil Dead will no longer be included. Of course, that’s not confirmed as of yet, but with the studio suddenly removing him from the file it could very well be true. This does go without saying that NetherRealms has done this with other DLC characters, removing them and then re-adding them much later, so I would say don’t lose out on hope if you were wanting to play as Ash Williams.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath DLC is now available for purchase on all platforms. Stay tuned for our review!
