PS5 Won’t Be Available in Stores at Launch

Those banking to get the newest PlayStation console at the store when it releases may want to stay home and pre-order instead, as Sony has confirmed that the PS5 won’t be available on retail at launch day at the respective dates it hits around the world.

Here’s the official tweet from PlayStation updating gamers with the news.

More information was also posted at the US PlayStation Blog and Japanese PS Blog, encouraging players to place their orders online instead of lining up and camping out in stores at a time of pandemic.

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.

Gamers who have pre-ordered for pick-up at their local retailer should still be able to do so at their designated appointment time, under the retailer’s safety protocols. Please confirm the details with your local retailer.

Be sure to check our related feature on the PS5 DualSense and that the faceplate can be removed — opening it to a world of customizable opportunities.

The PS5 will launch on November 12 on major territories like the US and Japan, with the rest of the world to follow on November 19.
