Respawn Dev: We Are Being “Incredibly Generous” With the Amount of Apex Legends Free Stuff We Give Out

apex legends free stuff

In case you’re not a fan of Apex Legends, or just haven’t been keeping tabs on news regarding the game, a lot has happened recently starting with the release of the Iron Crown Collection event. While the studio has since announced a list of changes in how players earn content for the event, it kinda spiraled out of control with name-calling and more happening.

Over on the Apex Legends subreddit, a fan asked Drew McCoy, Project Lead at Respawn, whether $18 is a fair price for a Legendary skin. McCoy commented that the studio has been “incredibly generous” when it comes to the amount of Apex Legends free stuff they give away. Note that the screenshots don’t show the question and answer in one thread since McCoy’s comment has been downvoted so many times that it got buried below the score threshold.

Bear in mind, Apex Legends is a free-to-play game on all platforms, and as such, the studio (and publisher EA) do need to make money and profit off the game. Not saying Respawn is correct that they’ve been super generous, but there are two sides to each story, and all that.

Do you agree with Respawn that they’ve been incredibly generous with the Apex Legends free stuff? Share your thoughts in the comments.

18 dollars for a Legendary Skin? Not too bad, considering Perfect World/Cryptic Studios charges as much as 30-40 dollars for what amounts to being a “Ship Skin”. At least, when they’re not conning people out of hundreds of dollars in their loot boxes.

Anything above 10 dollars, foregoes the notion of it being a “micro” transaction.

This is lol & why?

They make a game for freeloaders, the freeloaders get mad when their barbies dress up get expensive?

The freeloaders devs and their freeloaders customers are two turds in need of a flush.

Seriously.

This is a pretty normal reaction because you think a cosmetic item in a game is priced too high.

$18 dollars for a skin is ludicrous even if your game is F2P, like seriously was it that long ago that people were losing their minds over $2.50 from horse armor? Now we’ve got people charging almost 20 for a skin. Also, let’s not forget that fact that you can’t actually just buy it for $18 dollars, I think you gotta buy $25 worth of coins to make your purchase.

Seriously we went from $2.50 to $25 in 12 years. That’s some ol BS right there.
