Report: Mortal Kombat 1: Kombat Pack 1 Characters Leak; Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni Man Confirmed

Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios finally announced the next Mortal Kombat title yesterday, and while precious little was revealed about its gameplay and roster, further details are already beginning to seep through the cracks. The Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition pre-order page on Amazon Italy appears to now accidentally have revealed the contents of Kombat Pack 1 (included with the Premium Edition), which includes six playable characters, five Kameo Fighters, and a Jean Claude-Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage. The listing confirms that the fan-favorite Homelander (Antony Starr – The Boys ), Peacemaker (John Cena – Peacemaker), and Omni Man (J.K. Simmons – Invincible) characters will all be featuring in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the Kombat Pack.

The upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 is yet another reboot of the series, set in the universe created by Fire God Liu Kang at the end of the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath DLC. The title promises reimagined characters as well as “a new fighting system, game modes, bone krushing finishing moves, and more.”

As the title was only revealed yesterday, the playable character roster is not yet known, though NetherRealm did promise that early access for six playable characters and five Kameo Fighters would be included with the Kombat Pack that is bundled with the Premium and Kollector’s Editions of the game. The Amazon Italy page for the Premium Edition is currently displaying exactly who these fighters will be, though it is quite likely the information will be removed from the page soon:

mortal kombat 1 kombat pack 1

Interestingly, the Kombat Pack is listed as “Kombat Pack 1,” meaning more will be added or at least revealed in the near future with additional fighters. The Kombat Pack 1 characters are as follows:

  • Quan Chi
  • Omni-Man
  • Ermac
  • Peacemaker
  • Takeda
  • Homelander

Kameo Fighters:

  • Tremor
  • Johnny Cage
  • Khameleon
  • Mavado
  • Ferra

As revealed yesterday, the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage is part of Kombat Pack 1. You can verify the information for yourself at the Amazon Italy page, though as mentioned previously, the page will most likely be edited to remove it soon enough.

Same with any leaks, nothing is official until it’s announced, so take this (still) with a grain of salt, though it does seem like the real deal.

Microsoft-Activision Deal Unconditionally Approved in China

After the EU win this week, the Microsoft-Activision deal has now been unconditionally cleared by Chinese regulators. The approval came late in a Phase III review, and leaves only the UK and US as the remaining major markets the deal is yet to be greenlit in.

After receiving approvals in a number of markets including South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and even rival Sony’s home of Japan, the Microsoft-Activision deal faced its first major setback when the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocked the deal in the region on the basis of unresolved cloud gaming concerns. Interestingly, the European Commission chose to clear the deal in the EU earlier this week, having also found issues in the deal concerning the cloud gaming market but deeming Microsoft’s proposed remedies satisfactory.

According to sources familiar with the Chinese regulatory proceedings, the acquisition has now been unconditionally approved in China late into a Phase III review by the State Administration for Market Regulation. However, Microsoft still needs to successfully appeal the CMA’s verdict in the UK and win its ongoing legal battles against the FTC in the US in order to make the deal happen without pulling its business out of both markets. Stay tuned here at MP1st for all upcoming news and announcements about the Microsoft-Activision deal.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Update 1.1.1 Slashes Out for Progression Fix

Nintendo has released a brand new update this May 18 for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which addresses a nasty progression bug, as well as several issues. Read on to find out what’s included in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom update 1.1.1 patch notes for May 18.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes | TOTK Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes | The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom May 18 Patch Notes

  • Fixed issue where, sometimes, the player could not clear main quest “The Closed Door,” even if they fulfilled the conditions to advance the quest.
    • If you have already encountered this issue, you will be able to clear the quest by downloading this update data.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

We’ll continue to monitor community feedback as always, and should anything else be uncovered, we’ll be sure to update this post. In the meantime, be sure to check out our full review of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! Here’s an excerpt from it

“Just when you think you’ve reached the pinnacle of a series, Nintendo comes out with a bigger, more ambitious, creative, and innovative follow-up to perhaps what was already one of the greatest games ever released. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom somehow manages to be better than its predecessor in every way imaginable, once again propelling the series to new heights. It’s insane and absolutely mind-boggling what Nintendo has crafted here, and even more so how the publisher is consistently able to one-up themselves. Believe in the hype because The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom exceeds them in every way.

I wish I could rewind this whole experience, just so I can play it for the very first time again because if there is one thing that has now dawned on me, the one thing that has now struck a bit of fear, it’s that I now have to wonder how in the world will Nintendo ever top this. I suppose there’s some solace in knowing that this was the very thing I said about Breath of the Wild, so here’s to the future of the franchise.”

“Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus:” Japanese Folklore-Inspired 2.5D Platformer Releases 2024

During the Humble Games Showcase today, Humble Games revealed that it will be publishing Squid Shock Studios’ Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, a unique, hand-drawn side-scroller set in a world inspired by Japanese folklore. The game will be releasing at some point during 2024 on PC.

Announced in 2022: Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus brings the beloved iconography and myths of Japanese folklore to the Metroidvania platformer format, in a hand-drawn world full of yokai, Daruma dolls, and torii gates. From the developers:

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania platformer based in a colorful world of Japanese folklore. Use your legendary bō staff to bounce and move fluidly through a delightfully-demonic East Asian fever dream. Use the tight movement and reset system to reach areas efficiently and gracefully or recover chaotically while floundering for footing.

  • A familiar 2D side-scrolling action platformer that merges classic hand-drawn animation and scenery with new atmospheric bells and whistles that make the experience wondrously novel yet cozily familiar.
  • Tight platforming controls. Bō feels amazing to control and players will feel great agency as they enter a flow state navigating the challenging platforming challenges.
  • Explore a mysterious world! The world of Bō is open and interconnected. Explore everything from haunted bathhouses to a thriving Japanese-inspired metropolis. Find ways to travel back to areas that you thought you explored fully and unlock new paths and surprises.
  • Unlock powerful new abilities! Brew and drink arcane teas to unlock Bō’s shapeshifting staff abilities. Including the Mochi Mallet, Blossom Dash and the Grappling Gun.
  • Daruma doll Power ups! Collect daruma dolls throughout your journey to tune your abilities and give you advantages (or even disadvantages) in unique ways. All daruma dolls begin with 1 eye filled in. They can be upgraded to a 2-eyed daruma that enhances the original daruma’s perk. These loveable daruma dolls will be by your side throughout your journey.
  • A large cast of bizarre and adorable yokai (monsters from Japanese folklore) as well as original characters based on Japanese cultural archetypes. All of these characters and enemies are brought to life with traditional hand-drawn 2D frame-by-frame animation. Help them with their side quests or just stop by for a chat and a cup of tea.
  • Epic Boss Battles! On your journey you will encounter many massive monsters from Japanese folklore. Use your gained knowledge and skill to vanquish them and advance further in your quest.
  • Beautiful hand-drawn and immersive areas and landscapes with traditional Japanese inspired trimmings.
  • An absolutely gorgeous original score composed by Moises Carmago, that beautifully blends traditional Japanese instrumentation with modern orchestral music.

Check out new screenshots from the title below:

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus releases on PC through Steam sometime during 2024, with a similar delay expected for the Nintendo Switch version as well.

Infinity Ward Teases “Classic” Modern Warfare 2 Map to Arrive “Pretty Soon,” Mentions “Power in Nostalgia”

A “classic” Call of Duty map may arrive as a Modern Warfare 2 map “pretty soon,” according to a recent interview with Infinity Ward. The map was apparently liked by CDL players who were able to test an early version of it at Infinity Ward’s office.

Unfortunately, other than the fact that the map is “an older one,” we really don’t know much about what this map is or when it’s set to go live. Here’s the full statement on the new map by Geoffrey Smith, Multiplayer Design Director at Infinity Ward.

We’re bringing an older one back that some CDL guys, they really liked when they were at our office. We pivoted around and that’s coming pretty soon.

While the studio didn’t divulge much on the new map, Smith did share his thoughts on reintroducing older maps to modern Call of Duty titles, discussing the proper use and leverage of nostalgia.

There’s power in nostalgia of bringing those back. To be honest, there’s good, fun gameplay there. It’s kind of silly to not use into those and lean into the strengths of those maps. Kind of a broken record but it’s also this balance between brand new stuff and something that’s familiar.

Even when we do new maps, people will say ‘Oh I didn’t like this, this other map was way better.’ It feels almost like it takes some time to get used to something new. Then suddenly two years later they’re like ‘oh man, Hackney Yard was a great map,’ but during the launch of it you’re like ‘that was a piece of crap.’ You build those memories with your friends and eventually, you have these rose-tinted glasses of these maps.

Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joseph Cecot also revealed that old maps are usually reserved for post-launch content in a new Call of Duty game, with a focus on reintroducing “something new” over simple and remastered versions of the old maps.

Make sure we’re leaning in and trying new things [at launch]. Then post-launch is when we look at bringing old maps back. We brought back Shoothouse and Shipment. But really, it’s important we’re bringing something new, we’re evolving, we’re making new content, it’s a new game, and it’s not just a bunch of remastered maps.

Smith also revealed some information regarding the last three maps planned for Modern Warfare 2 this year, which you can read more about here.

With this teased map set to arrive “pretty soon,” it’s possible for it to arrive as early as next season, so keep your eyes peeled.

Battlefield 2042 YouTuber Gets Axed From Creator Program by DICE for Sharing Squads Info; Community Lashes Out

Just a few days ago, we reported on how DICE has confirmed that squad kick and ban functionality won’t be making its way to Battlefield 2042 anytime soon. While that news wasn’t something BF2042 players want to hear, it looks like someone got the worst end of it.

Content creator and Battlefield YouTuber GhostGaming, who shared the screenshot of Battlefield Community Manager Tom Stratford’s Discord message confirming that squad kick/ban won’t be present in BF2042, has been kicked out from the EA Creator Network program for apparently sharing the info.

If you think DICE and EA were overreacting just a bit, you’re not alone, as the Battlefield community has also shared their disappointment with DICE’s reaction of the news spreading out.

A history of violence…and double standards.
byu/korlic99 inbattlefield2042

DICE blaming a 10 Year long dedicated content creator, who has advertised and showcased their games FOR FREE, over a choice THEY made is some of the most childish and petty behavior they have ever shown to the community
byu/suika_suika inbattlefield2042

Those two are the ones with the most reactions, but there are other threads on the game’s subreddit with the same sentiment.

Talking to MP1st, GhostGaming confirmed that while EA Content Creator partners are required to sign an NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) when covering events and other opportunities you’re invited to, you don’t sign anything for entering the Creator Network Discord server. Now, if you are attending an event, you will get an invite and a new NDA for that event which is hosted on a new Discord server.

Based on GhostGaming’s correspondence with us, it doesn’t seem like there was any malicious intent in sharing what Stratford had said. Mind, other content creators have broken the rules on much bigger stuff (event info, etc.), and weren’t kicked out of the Content Creator program.

As an outsider looking in, I have to say that the squad info shared should have been shared publicly to every Battlefield 2042 player and not relegated to a private Discord chat. Is DICE wrong for kicking out a content creator who’s been supporting them for years just for this incident? We can’t say for sure. Leave your comment below and let us know what you think.

Civilization 6 Update 1.17 Released This May 18

Firaxis has released Civilization 6 update 1.17 on all platforms, and this unannounced patch doesn’t seem to bring in any new content. Read up on what’s new in the Civ 6 May 18 patch notes.

Civilization 6 Update 1.17 Patch Notes | Civilization 6 May 18 Patch Notes:

Download Size: 41MB (Steam)

Update: Over on the game’s Steam page, multiple users have reported a version change among other things. Also of note, the Mac version of the game didn’t get a patch, so crossplay is not working, which developer Aspyr is aware of.

The acknowledgement from Aspyr:

Civilization VI crossplay is temporarily unavailable between Mac and Windows players. Mac players will not be able to connect to Windows players, and vice versa. Our team is working to bring the versions back in sync as soon as possible.

We’ll update this article when we have any new information. Thank you for your patience.

Over at SteamDB, we can see that they updated Main Game (+230.71 KiB), Main Game EXE (+22.50 KiB), Civ GH (Expansion 1, +51.34 MiB) and DepotTest (BlackDeath Senario pack, +59.82 MiB). And unknown changes to DLC01 (Viking Senario) and DLC05 (Nubia pack) – (via ChrisMartin)

Another Steam user reported that multiplayer broke with the patch when Steam is in offline mode (via AmShaegar).

– You cannot start a multiplayer LAN game. When confirming the settings nothing happens.
– You cannot join a game. It says, an error occurred.

For now, Firaxis nor publisher 2K has mentioned anything about today’s patch. The latest acknowledgement about the game comes from its announcement about the Asian  American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

On the game’s subreddit, multiple people have mentioned that the title update has caused issues. With some stating issues with saves, and even how their 2K account has been affected by the update.

  • The only change I’ve noticed so far is that I got kicked out of the 2K account lol. I tried signing in again and it says that the mail is already linked to another PS account. 🫠 unlinked it on the 2k site and then linked again on PS. Works now. (via AxeVice)
  • And now none of my saves will load.(via Jimothy-Juice)

Unfortunately, this patch doesn’t seem to help with the game’s crashing issues.

We’re on the lookout for any changes, and if we spot any — or if Firaxis releases the official patch notes  — we’ll be sure to update the article.

Call of Duty Mod “sm2” Ordered to Shut Down by Activision

A popular Call of Duty mod project called “sm2” has been canceled by Activision following a Cease and Desist letter sent to the developers. The mod had been in development for two years before Activision decided to take action on the matter.

For those unfamiliar with sm2, it’s essentially a Call of Duty client that featured major content overhauls to weapons, perks, and various other changes. Here’s the official description from the project’s website, which is now offline:

sm² is a modded Call of Duty client based off the MW2 engine with all new features, weapons, perks, streaks, maps, QOL changes and more, all designed on top of our revamped gameplay to create a fun and balanced experience.

Our main goal is to create our dream Call of Duty game. A mash-up of the best COD experiences in one place, completely free and player-friendly, with on-going updates and community feedback to help make this project the best it can be.

We don’t want to just make another MW2, we want to make a fresh experience while staying true to COD traditions and giving sm² it’s own identity.

Here’s the announcement from the official sm2 Twitter account:

The sm2 project originally ran on IW4, the game engine used in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game. However, the devs behind sw2 decided to switch to the more modern H1 engine, which is used in Modern Warfare Remastered.

What’s more, a screenshot from the sm2 Discord also revealed that players did not need to actually purchase Modern Warfare Remastered to play sm2 despite running on MWR’s engine. The statement also mentions “exclusive rewards” for those who bought a copy of MW2, as the original version of the project did require players to buy the base game in order to try out sm2.

It is possible that Activision decided to take action on the sm2 project due to the game engine switch. The announcement had been made less than a month before receiving the Cease and Desist letter, with the newly planned H1 version not requiring a copy of the base game. As sm2 could possibly compete against Activision’s own products without requiring the players to buy a copy of the game, it wouldn’t be that surprising for Activision to take action on the project.

What are your thoughts on sm2? Did it deserve to get canceled? Let us know in the comments!

Destiny 2 Season 21 Weapon Changes Detailed: Updated Reticles, Weapon Rotation in Inspection Screen, and More

Bungie has now unveiled the Destiny 2 Season 21 weapon changes, featuring a host of balance updates, quality-of-life reworks, and changes to certain screens to better display information. Season 21: Season of the Deep will bring reticle updates for several weapons and Exotics, a full auto melee setting, the ability to rotate weapons and preview VFX in the Gear Inspection screen, and many adjustments to weapon damage numbers.

Destiny 2 Season 21 Weapon Changes:

Hip-Fire Reticles and FOV:

Seeking to address the usability of reticles at high FOV settings, Bungie has rebuilt the hip-fire reticles for the following weapons:

  • Fusion Rifle
  • Hand Cannon
  • Sidearm
  • Trace Rifle

Hip-fire reticles for other weapons will also be updated in future releases. Shotgun reticles now also scale with FOV, such that the reticle will now closely match the pellet spread regardless of the FOV.

Charge Meters:

Fusion Rifle and Sword reticles now both display charge information within their respective reticles in order to make it easier to gauge the charge and guard energy (respectively) without relying on visual or audio cues.

Experimental Aim Down Sights Reticle:

Bungie is planning to replace the custom ADS reticles for each weapon with an approach that maintains the hand-built aesthetics of a weapon’s sight or scope while using a variation of the hip-fire reticle for the center crosshair or red dot. The first weapon to incorporate this change is Shayura’s Wrath, which now has an ADS reticle that reacts to its accuracy and autoaim state, and displays a red reticle when pointed at an enemy within range.

Custom Exotic Weapon Reticles:

Many Exotic weapons have perks with unique, important information specific to them, and as such, Bungie has added reticle elements to display this information more immediately.

The specific additions are as follows:

  • Charge meter added to Exotic weapons whose base weapon type doesn’t typically have a charge meter.
    • Devil’s Ruin
    • Salvation’s Grip
    • Grand Overture
  • Perk counter shows pips for perked shots
    • Quicksilver Storm grenade count.
    • Ace of Spades Memento Mori shot count.
    • Lumina Noble Rounds shot count.
    • Traveler’s Chosen Gathering Light stacks.
  • Perk progress meter shows perk buildup
    • The Manticore
  • Perk active shows when the Exotic perk is active
    • Hawkmoon
    • Ager’s Scepter
    • Tarrabah
    • Touch of Malice
    • Cryosthesia 77k
    • Trinity Ghoul
  • Charge meter and perk counter
    • Vex Mythoclast
  • The Charge Meter changes also apply to Exotic Swords and Fusion Rifles.

Such updates will be made to additional Exotic weapons as well in future releases.

Inspection Screen Improvements:

With Season 21, Bungie is adding a number of highly-requested features, the most prominent of which is the ability to rotate weapons in the Gear Inspection screen. The ambient VFX for weapons will now play inside the Inspection screen as well. The change applies to player inventories as well as within the Eververse store. Additionally, the depth-of-field effect has been removed from weapon, ship, and armor preview screens to allow a clearer look at these items from all angles.

Check out the feature in action below:

Full Auto Melee:

A “full auto melee” setting has been added that lets players continue melee attacking both unarmed and armed while holding down the appropriate input. The change is explained in full detail here.

Weapon Archetypes:

A host of adjustments have been made to the following Weapon Archetypes:

  • Bows
    • Tyranny of Heaven’s stats were always weirdly low, and we were touching these weapons anyway so opted to update its stats while we were in there.
  • Submachine Guns
    • Aggressive Submachine Guns have surged in PvP, they need to be brought back into band—we’re doing that in a way that keeps them viable by reducing both base and crit damage a little, requiring higher precision to reach their optimal time to kill (TTK).
    • Reduced base damage from 15 to 14.
      • Increased precision hit multiplier from 1.45 to 1.5 (crit damage goes from 21.8 to 21).
    • The Immortal is such a stat monster that no other Aggressive SMG can compete, we’ve brought its range in while allowing it to continue to excel in other areas.
      • Reduced base range value by 10.
  • Sniper Rifles
    • Sniper Rifles are a very safe option, and we don’t want to also make them dominant, but there’s some room to bring their damage up to improve their feel in PvE. Note that rapid-fire Sniper Rifles also got a large reserves bump and reduced recoil in the Season 20 mid-Season balance update. We’ll keep an eye on this and may bring them up a little more in future if this doesn’t move the needle.
    • Increased PvE damage by 10%.
    • Note: Izanagi’s Burden’s Honed Edge perk shots don’t receive this buff, all other Exotic Sniper Rifles receive the buff as written.
  • Scout Rifles
    • Long Arm was inadvertently receiving the damage bonus vs minors for Exotics, so we’ve addressed that (it still receives the Scout Rifle PvE damage buff from the Season 20 mid-Season balance update).

Exotic Weapons:

Balance changes and updates for numerous Exotic weapons are coming with Season 21:

  • Eyes of Tomorrow’s multi-targeted missile volley and “Adaptive Ordnance” Exotic trait suggest it should be used to kill groups of enemies, but the Rocket Launcher ammo economy doesn’t really allow for that. But what if smart use of the weapon against groups refunded ammo?
    • Killing 4 targets with a missile volley will refund one ammo.
  • Graviton Lance’s performance feels Exotic, but it was easy to miss out on the full damage of a burst because so much of it was back-loaded, and we felt the tuning of Revision Zero’s Heavy Rounds 2-burst would be a good fit.
    • Increased RPM from 257 to 300 (reduced burst delay by 20%, now matches Revision Zero’s Hakke Heavy Rounds rate of fire).
    • Rebalanced damage per shot.
      • Increased first shot damage from:
        • Body: 9.5 to 19.
        • Crit: 15.7 to 31.4.
      • Decreased second shot damage from:
        • Body: 35.6 to 25.6.
        • Crit: 58.7 to 42.3.
  • Jade Rabbit is a strong PvP Scout Rifle, but it was difficult to keep track of the state of the Exotic perk, and refunding a single ammo just wasn’t impressive enough for an Exotic—these changes make the state clearer and provide more reward for precision.
    • Added buff text to show when Fate of All Fools increased body shot damage is active.
    • Quickly hitting 3 critical hits now refunds 3 shots instead of 1.
  • Flying around with The Manticore is some silly fun, but we wanted it to be more rewarding, mobile, and sustainable. With this change you should be able to remain airborne for longer and be safer while doing so.
    • Increased the catalyst’s damage resistance from tier 3 to tier 4.
    • Increased movement speed during hang time.
    • Activating the catalyst perk (through an airborne kill or sustained damage following an airborne kill) now partially refills the magazine.
  • Lumina’s cap on Noble Rounds was 5, while working on Exotic weapon reticles we opted to match Ace of Spades’ Memento Mori shot count to improve consistency between the two and give Lumina a little buff at the same time.
    • Increased Noble Rounds cap from 5 to 6.
  • Heartshadow wasn’t quite hitting the fantasy we wanted it to, so we’ve made it easier to exploit the Exotic perks.
    • Damage increase now activates quicker while invisible, after 0.25s instead of 1s.
    • Heartshadow now weakens upon dealing any damage while the damage increase is active.
  • We love Worldline Zero’s performance, and with all of the attention we’ve been giving Swords we wanted to spend some time really differentiating it from a certain perk on glowing Sword Dares.
    • The sprinting Heavy attack can now be chained into itself once.
      • Sword guard energy cost from each sprinting heavy attack reduced from 100% to 50%.
      • Increased damage from an individual sprinting heavy attack by 8.3%.
  • Sweet Business’s performance is a lot of fun, but we felt we could really plus its fun factor and strength by adding some explosions.
    • Now fires explosive rounds every 20 shots (fewer shots while fully spun up).
  • Legend of Acrius hits extremely hard already, dealing some of the highest damage per shot in the game, but its ammo reserves run out fairly quickly, and you have to be right on top of enemies to use it, we’ve relaxed both of those constraints.
    • Increased total ammo from 12 to 16.
    • Increased maximum projectile distance from 9m to 12m.
  • Tommy’s Matchbook is all about burning yourself, we’ve updated it to let you burn others as well.
    • Catalyst updated: While overheated, sustained fire scorches your target. Every 5 shots applies 14+7 (with the Embers of Ashes Fragment) scorch stacks.
  • No Time to Explain’s drone wouldn’t work against Barrier Champion shields when it had an anti-barrier effect, we’ve fixed that, and also made the drone work with the Feeding Frenzy perk.
    • Updated drone to work with anti-barrier (will break Barrier Champion shields and over penetrate combatant shields).
    • Updated drone to work with Feeding Frenzy (from the NTTE catalyst).
    • This also resolved an issue where the feedback for Feeding Frenzy would always play when the player spawned and then never again.
  • Skyburner’s Oath’s Solar 3.0 pass turned out to be too conservative, so we’ve brought it up to be more competitive with other scorching options.
    • Increased scorch stacks from 3 to 5 and 5 to 10 with the Embers of Ashes Fragment.
  • Salvation’s Grip’s performance and utility is entertaining and situationally useful, but as a Heavy weapon it really needs to do some damage, without compromising on its identity—we’ve rebuilt its functionality using bowling as inspiration.
    • Reworked to have two firing modes. Charged shot creates a pattern of Stasis crystals (where the number of crystals is no longer dependent on charge time). Uncharged shot is a normal Grenade Launcher shot, which does more damage to Stasis crystals and frozen targets.
    • Added a new perk that reloads the magazine from reserves when you quickly shatter at least 3 crystals with the uncharged shot.
  • Bad Juju has always been hard to control, and it turns out that this is because it was originally set up to use Auto Rifle recoil.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing the weapon to recoil like an Auto Rifle, making it harder to control. The recoil pattern will now be similar to other Pulse Rifles.
  • Fighting Lion’s damage against red bars spiked to massive levels due to a recent bug, we’ve addressed this—but note that it still receives the 40% damage bonus for Exotic Primary weapons.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing this weapon to do more damage than intended to red-bar combatants.
  • Thunderlord has surged in popularity with the release of its catalyst and the Season 20 Machinegun buff, but it shipped with a bug that allowed lightning strikes at a higher frequency than intended against Divinity bubbles. We’ve addressed that—note that regular crits are not affected by the change.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in hits against a Divinity bubble counting as two crits instead of one.
  • Winterbite’s initial version included an exploitable damage bug, which is fixed here.
    • The impact damage has been removed and redistributed to the detonation damage.
    • The self-damage scaling has been tuned to account for the increased damage of the detonation.

Perks:

Finally, certain Perks have also been updated:

  • Fragile Focus is fairly potent, but the perk deactivator was very unforgiving.
    • Bonus lasts until shield pop, returns when shield regenerates to 100%.
  • Thresh, Demolitionist, and Pugilist have always granted increased energy on Shotgun, Fusion Rifle and Sniper Rifle kills, but Glaives missed out on that bonus until now.
    • Grants increased energy to Glaive projectile kills (same as Shotguns, Fusion Rifles, and Sniper Rifles).
  • Reconstruction has been simplified under-the-hood so that we can place the perk on more weapons without exceeding perk budgets.
    • This results in a slight change to the timing of the perk where the initial timer and the cooldown timer between reloads have been unified.
    • Base perk: 4 seconds.
    • Enhanced perk: 3.5 seconds.
  • Shoot to Loot is already situationally useful, but we’ve been looking for a good way to allow players to interact with Orbs of Power at a distance, and this was an obvious option.
    • Updated to pick up Orbs of Power.
    • Currently this only works on direct hits. The ability for the orbs to be picked up with weapon detonations will be added in a future patch.

The Future:

The interaction between zoom and damage falloff is also in the process of being adjusted, such that weapons with lower than standard zoom values for their archetype will have their damage falloff buffed, and those with higher than standard zoom values will have their damage falloff reduced. Weapons with standard zoom values will be unaffected by the change. However, to avoid negatively affecting the weapon experience, aim assist bonuses as well as accuracy and recoil modifiers will still apply. The base damage falloff numbers for several weapon types will accordingly be adjusted to accommodate weapon types that rely on having above standard zoom.

A large Sword update is also planned with the goal of making guarding “substantially more valuable.” In the more distant future, Bungie is also planning an update for Sparrows that will allow players to use their favorites instead of Always on Time without affecting AoT itself.

Destiny 2’s Season 21: Season of the Deep will kick off with all these weapon changes and adjustments on May 23 on all platforms. Beginning with this new Season, the standard Season Pass price will be increased by 10%.

“Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical:” Narrative Adventure/Musical Hybrid Releases August 3 on PC

During today’s Humble Games Showcase, Humble Games and Summerfall Studios shed more light on their upcoming title Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, a narrative adventure/musical hybrid scored by Austin Wintory and featuring acclaimed voice actors Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and many more. As revealed previously, the game will release on PC on August 3.

First announced in 2019 as Chorus: An Adventure Musical, the Kickstarter-funded project changed its name to Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical in March 2022. Written by ex-Bioware writer David Gaider, the game stars Laura Bailey as college dropout Grace, who is granted the power of a Muse but is accused of murdering her predecessor. Grace finds herself in a struggle to prove her innocence to the Greek pantheon, while simultaneously figuring out her newfound powers and how to put them to use. From the developers:

In a modern fantasy world, college dropout Grace is granted the power of a Muse – power she’ll need to find out the truth behind her predecessor’s death before time runs out. You’ll decide who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her in this beautifully hand-illustrated roleplaying musical.

Written by David Gaider comes Stray Gods – an urban fantasy tale of finding your place, taking charge of your fate, and discovering answers. Your choices will change the endings, as well as the path you take to get there.

A compelling story of hope, self-discovery, and forging your path.

Check out new screenshots from the title below:

Lost Skies is a New Open-World Coop Adventure Set in the Clouds

Learn how you can survive among the clouds. as Bossa Games gives us a first look at their new title, Lost Skies that’s set to fly to PC.

Debuting during the Humble Games 2023 Showcase, here’s a first look at the cooperative adventure game focusing on PvE by Bossa Games:

Lost Skies First Look and Developer Diary

In Lost Skies, players team up to explore a vast world made up of floating islands. The skies are full of opportunities to build customised sky-ships, brave ferocious storms, battle monsters and solve the mysteries of ancient civilisations, forgotten technologies and the story of the shattered world.

Lost Skies builds on the ideas and gameplay of the previous Bossa game Worlds Adrift, but is an entirely new game based on cooperative survival exploration. Playing solo or with up to five companions, players can once again grapple, glide, climb and sail across a massive open world of hand-crafted islands in the sky.

And although the title is aiming for a 2024 release, Bossa Games did confirm that they will be running some tests later this year.

“Using our open development method, we’ll be sharing with our community through every stage of development. Just as players will work together to explore the shattered world of floating islands, we’ll be working with them, using their feedback to inform our creative process and including their designs in the game itself.”

To get in on that, you’ll need to join the studio’s Discord channel, which they’ll notify members at a later date once the testing has begun. If you’re interested in learning more about the title, be sure to visit the official page. The title will also be available to wishlist shortly on Steam, so keep an eye out for it!

Humble Games Shadow Drops Supraland: Six Inches Under on Consoles

Talk about a surprise, as today, during the Humble Games 2023 Showcase, the publisher and Supra Games UG announced that the acclaimed first-person-metroidvania Supraland: Six Inches Under is now available on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles!

As revealed during today’s showcase stream, Supraland: Six Inches Under, which is a standalone expansion to the first game, is now available on both PlayStation (PS4 and PS5) and Xbox (Xbox One, and Xbox Series) platforms. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass will also be happy to know that the title is included in this month’s offering, meaning you can play it right now as part of the subscription!

Supraland: Six Inches Under Screenshots

A little about the game:

“Six Inches Under” was a little side-project that was established to introduce new dev team members to our tools and workflow. Essentially it’s our preparation for the sequel to Supraland.

While David Münnich made the first Supraland game pretty much alone, he had a smaller role in this one. The core team for this one had 6 people.
Pretty much everyone on the team built 1 or 2 regions of the game world, and in that sense, it is very experimental.

It was supposed to be a little DLC for Supraland, but it got a bit out of hand and got more and more ambitious. Instead of 3 months, it took us 27 months to make this (Supraland 1 was in development for 16 months).

It can be considered “Supraland 1.5″ because there are still a lot of things from the first game, but at the same time, it’s a new world with a bunch of new mechanics.”

Now get out there and have some fun!
