MAPS

Updates

Al Mazrah

    • Operators should expect reduced visibility in the area.
    • The visual obfuscation effects of the Sandstorm have been heavily reduced in Ranked Play.*

GAMEPLAY

Adjustments

All Maps | All Modes

  • UAV
    • UAV pings will now only emit from the Player who activated the Killstreak.
    • If the Player who activated the UAV is killed, the UAV will finish.
    • Using 3 UAVs will still upgrade the signal into an Advanced UAV.

With UAVs now being available in all Buy Stations, we wanted to better balance their power so that they are as equally balanced for Solo’s as they are through Quads. We felt that, like all Killstreaks, the Killstreak should come from the Player who calls it in so when players hear “Enemy UAV Overhead”, they know that the total radius covered is of a fixed, known quantity across all modes.

  • Mortar Strike
    • The amount of missiles dropped during Mortar Strike has been decreased by 25%.
  • Obstructed Pings
    • Disabled the the ability to ping enemies through smoke or water.

Ashika Island | All Modes

  • Buy Stations
    • Added more possible Buy Station locations.

SR (Skill Rating) & Divisions

Test yourself against your peers and track that progress with a visible SR (Skill Rating) that determines your place across 8 Skill Divisions.

  • All players begin our first Competitive Season in Bronze I with 0 SR.
  • Players earn SR based on match performance, with SR awarded for Kills, Assists, and outlasting other Squads.
  • Breakdown: Earning SR
    • Kills and Assists
      • Players gain SR over the course of each match each time they get a Kill or assist, with Kills and assists being treated equally to encourage teamwork between Squadmates.
      • Players will also receive some SR each time a Squadmate gets a Kill, even if they don’t contribute to the Kill.
      • To reward high-stakes Kills late in the game, SR increases over the course of each match based on the number of Squads left alive:
        • 21+ Squads Remaining: +5 SR per Kill/Assist, +2 SR per Squadmate Kill
        • 3 – 20 Squads Remaining: +7 SR per Kill/Assist, +3 SR per Squadmate Kill
        • 1-3 Squads Remaining: +15 SR per Kill/Assist, +7 SR per Squadmate Kill
    • Final Placements
      • Additionally, players earn SR based on final placement at the end of the match:
        • Top 40: +5 SR
        • Top 30: +10 SR
        • Top 20: +20 SR
        • Top 10: +30 SR
        • Top 5: +45 SR
        • 3rd: +60 SR
        • 2nd: +80 SR
        • 1st: +100 SR
      • Player’s will see this SR added throughout a match. Reach Top 40 and you’ll gain 5 SR. Reach Top 30 and you will see another 5 SR for a total of 10 SR.
    • SR Tracker
      • Players will be able to see and track SR earned via Kills, Asists, Unassisted Squadmate Kills, and Placements on a visible tracker in-game.
        • The SR Tracker will be visible while alive or spectating a Squadmate and will always display your own SR for the current match.
        • If your team is eliminated, the SR Tracker will be hidden when spectating an Enemy Squad, and your final earned SR will be shown in the After Action Report.
  • Breakdown: Deployment Fees
    • At the beginning of each match, a Deployment Fee is deducted from each player’s current SR total.
    • The higher the player’s Skill Division & Tier, the higher the Deployment Fee. This ensures that each division has increasing performance expectations and player’s must exceed those expectations to progress.
    • Players must earn this amount of SR in the following game if they wish to advance towards the next Skill Division or Tier. Failing to earn back the Deployment Fee will result in players losing SR for the match.
      • Bronze I-III: No Deployment Fee
      • Silver I: -10 SR
      • Silver II: -14 SR
      • Silver III: -18 SR
      • Gold I: -23 SR
      • Gold II: -28 SR
      • Gold III: -33 SR
      • Platinum I: -39 SR
      • Platinum II: -45 SR
      • Platinum III: -51 SR
      • Diamond I: -58 SR
      • Diamond II: -65 SR
      • Diamond III: -72 SR
      • Crimson I: -80 SR
      • Crimson II: -90 SR
      • Crimson III: -100 SR
      • Iridescent: -110 SR + 10 SR every 500 SR above 10,000, up to a max Deployment Fee of -210 SR.
  • Players can progress through eight Skill Divisions by reaching SR milestones:

    • Gold – 2,100 SR
    • Platinum – 3,600 SR

Competitive Integrity Features

  • Squad Backout / Match Cancel: If you lose a matchmade teammate before the match begins, your squad will be taken back to the lobby so you don’t start the match shorthanded. If too many squads get backed out before the match begins, we will return everyone to the lobby to find a better match.

  • Suspensions & Penalties: Disconnecting from matches early will result in SR Penalties and Matchmaking Suspensions. Repeated disconnects will result in higher SR Penalties and longer Suspensions.

  • SR Forgiveness: If a matchmade teammate disconnects during a game, you won’t lose any SR for the match. You’ll still be able to gain SR if you manage to gain more than your Deployment Fee.

  • Demotion Protection and Division Stickiness: Everytime you are promoted to a new Division, you’ll gain 3 games of Demotion Protection where you won’t lose any SR. Once those games have passed, if you happen to lose enough SR where you would normally get demoted, we will set you at the Division SR floor (Gold would be 2100 SR for example) to give you one more chance before getting demoted.

  • Party SR Restrictions: To ensure competitive fairness and balance of matches in higher Skill Divisions, players in certain Divisions can only party up with players around their current SR. The player with the highest Skill Division in the party determines which Party SR Restrictions are used:
    • Iridescent (Including Top 250) & Crimson: Can party with players within 1 Skill Division
    • Diamond: Can party within 2 Skill Divisions
    • Bronze – Platinum: Can party up without any restrictions

Additional Features

  • Find A Party: Warzone Ranked Play players can utilize the ‘Find a Party’ feature to find Squadmates of similar Skill before searching for a match.
    • This feature includes the following preference filters:
      • In-Game Communication Style: No Preference, Voice, Ping Only, and Text
      • Main Language: Select up to 3 language preferences: English (EN), French (FR), German (DE), Italian (IT), or Spanish (EU) (ES)
      • Playstyle: Competitive has been pre-selected and will remain locked for Party Finder.

  • Hot Streaks: Win a Ranked Play game to earn Victory Streak Flames that appear behind your Rank Icon in the lobby and in-game. Extend your win streak to progress the flames. Victory Streak Flames expire when you are eliminated or after 72 hours without playing a Ranked Play match. Go on a roll and the competition will know the heat is coming.

  • Social Profile: Your WZ Ranked Play Rank icon will be added to your Social profile anywhere your profile is viewed across Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0.

GAMEPLAY

New Features

All Maps | All Modes

  • Deployable Buy Station New Field Upgrade
    • This new Field Upgrade is a rare drop acquirable via ground loot and Supply Boxes.
    • Once a Player throws down the deploy marker, green smoke will mark the coordinates for a drone to drop a Deployable Buy Station at the target location.
    • The delivery drone can be shot down and destroyed by any Player, dropping the Deployable Buy Station at its current coordinates.
    • Once the Buy Station deploy marker has been deployed, an announcement will be made to all Players within close proximity and icons on both the Tac Map and minimap will be visible to all Players regardless of distance.
    • Additional notes:
      • Impact with the ground causes radial explosive damage.
      • Any Player can interact with it once it is on the ground.
      • It functions the same way a regular Buy Station does – and includes the same item inventory.
      • It will be disabled while in gas.
      • There is no expiration timer.

  • Lootable Perk Packages New Category!
    • Perk Packs will now be treated as items, which can be acquired over the course of a match via looting, Buy Stations, and eliminating Players, in addition to traditional custom Loadouts.
    • Default Perk Packs will be available via loot at equal rarity, or via Buy Stations for $3,500:
      • Veteran: Battle Hardened, Tracker, Fast Hands, Survivor
      • Insurgent: Strong Arm, Scavenger, Cold Blooded, Ghost
      • Bomber: Bomb Squad, Strong Arm, Resupply, Survivor
      • Ranger: Double Time, Scavenger, Focus, Quick Fix
      • SWAT: Battle Hardened, Double Time, Spotter, Survivor
    • Personal, custom Perk Packs will be available via Squad Loadout Drops – in addition to finding those created by other Players when you eliminate them.
    • Additional details:
      • Eliminated Players will drop Perk Packs that they are carrying on the ground as a lootable item.
      • Players can only have a single, active Perk Pack equipped at a time.
      • Players cannot unequip an active Perk Pack unless it is replaced with another.
      • Looting a Perk Pack immediately equips it and forces the previously equipped Perk Pack (if any) to drop on the ground as a loot item.
      • Purchasing a Perk Pack immediately equips it and forces the previously equipped Perk Pack (if any) to enter the Player’s backpack.

Al Mazrah | Battle Royale

  • Gulag Entry Kit
    • This rare item found via ground loot and Supply Boxes provides Players with an additional Gulag attempt if they have already entered the Gulag during a match.
    • Players can only hold a single Gulag attempt – which includes the initial, free attempt that Players receive upon Infil.
    • Players with a remaining attempt, including the initial free one, will receive $2,000 cash when the Gulag closes.

Adjustments

All Maps | All Modes

  • “Most Wanted” Contract
    • The reward crate will now drop when Players eliminate the Most Wanted target.

We have recently made a number of improvements to the “Most Wanted” Contract and have enjoyed seeing a huge lift in engagement, so we wanted to balance this gameplay by being equally as rewarding for Players who successfully eliminate the target.

All Maps | Battle Royale & Resurgence

  • Buy Stations
    • Buy Station inventories have been adjusted to provide Players with an expected, static list of purchasable items.
    • A new ‘Perk Packs’ tab has been added to the Buy Station with unlimited stock.
      • Perk Packs: $3,500
    • Unlimited “Gear” Items:
      • Armor Plates: $500
      • Gas Masks: $2,000
      • Armor Boxes: $2,000
      • Munitions Boxes: $2,000
      • UAVs: $6,000
        • UAV cost increased to $6,000, up from $4,000
      • Mortar Strikes: $4,000
      • Precision Strikes: $6,000
      • Loadout Markers: $20,000
    • Limited “Gear Items (2 Only):
      • Counter UAVs: $3,000
      • Cluster Mines: $4,000
      • Self Revives: $4,000
      • Durable Gas Masks: $3,500

We have heard the feedback that Players want more reliability on the contents of what is in a Buy Station, as well as how much stock there is of each item. We agree with this feedback but will continue to monitor this, and the pricing adjustments, for future Seasonal Updates.

Al Mazrah | All Modes

  • “Intel” Contract
    • Doubled the radius of the Upload Station capture zone.
  • Redeploy Drones
    • Distance Throw
      • Players using a Redeploy Drone in Al Mazrah will now receive an increased vertical boost when launched to better align with the size of the map.
    • Spawning
      • Redeploy Drones starting spawn locations are now static from match to match.
      • Redeploy Drones now spawn prior to infil to allow players to plan their best infil strategies.

  • Loadout Drops
    • Contested Loadout Drops at Circles 2 & 5 have been changed to Squad Loadout Drops to match the Ranked Play (BETA) and Resurgence.
  • Enemy Combatants
    • Strongholds
      • Removed Armor Plates
      • Reduced Accuracy by approximately 27%
      • Primary Weapon limited to Kastov 762
      • Equipment limited to Frag, Semtex, and Gas Grenades
  • Gulag
    • Decreased the number of Armor Plates that Players spawn with to 2, down from 3.
      • This change does not affect Ranked Play, which remains at 3.

Al Mazrah | Resurgence

  • Loadout Drop Event
    • A second Loadout Drop Public Event has been added to Massive Resurgence.
      • This will occur after the fifth circle begins to close.

  • Fixed an issue blocking downed redeploy drones from doing explosive damage to Players on and near impact.
  • Fixed an issue in Al Mazrah that would cause some locations to not be end circle candidates. This change will open up a lot more variety in end circle locations.

Quantum Error Devs on Next-Gen Status: “We Are Not Sacrificing Anything on PS5 for PS4”

Quantum Error, the upcoming sci-fi horror shooter by TeamKill Media, will make the most out of PS5’s power and performance while also being made available for the PS4. To accomplish this, the devs have revealed that the PS4 version of the game will essentially be downgrade of the game on the PS5.

A recent tweet from the official Quantum Error Twitter account revealed the developer’s plans for both PlayStation consoles.

The tweet confirms a few things. For one, the PS4 version will not be released at the same time as the PS5 version, and will instead “be coming later down the road.” Aside from this, the game will not be held back by the PS4, either, so players won’t have to worry about the game not feeling up-to-date with modern graphic standards.

Video game developers want their titles to be accessible to as many players as possible, and this often results in games that can be played on current-gen and previous-gen consoles. While this can result in a larger player base, it also means that the game needs to be able to run on both console generations, resulting in games that don’t make use of the current-gen console’s power and performance. This is the case with Horizon: Forbidden West, with the base game being available on both PS4 and PS5. As the recent Burning Shores DLC is a PS5 exclusive, however, the expansion was made to include better graphics and performance.

Quantum Error is set to launch on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

GAMEPLAY

    • Platinum – 3,600 SR

    • Iridescent – 10,000 SR
    • Top 250 – 10,000+ SR

  • Show Off Your Skill: It’s easy to see which Division someone is in in Warzone Ranked Play. Your entire Rank Icon will change color and material depending on your current Skill Division. Your current Tier is also prominently shown in the center of your Rank icon.
  • End of Season Skill Setback: At the end of each Season, your ending Skill Division will determine where you start the following season:
    • Bronze through Crimson players start in Tier I of the Skill Division below where they finished in the previous season.
    • Iridescent and Top 250 players will start in Diamond I.

Top 250 Leaderboard & Division

  • The Top 250 Division drops into Warzone, ranking the top 250 Ranked Play players in the world on an in-game Leaderboard that all players can view from within the Warzone Ranked Play lobby.

“Project Bloom,” an Action-Adventure Game by Game Freak and Private Division Announced; First Concept Art Revealed

Japanese developer Game Freak may be a video game company that most people associate with the highly successful Pokemon franchise, but a recent announcement has revealed that the studio is working on a brand-new IP. Titled “Project Bloom,” the action-adventure game is set to be published by Private Division.

In celebration of the partnership, some concept art of the game has been released. The artwork features a lush forest surrounded by tall trees and roots, with warm yellow lighting emanating from the distance. A lone figure is seen standing in the middle of what seems to be a pond.

Here’s what Game Freak Director Kota Furushima had to say about the partnership:

We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create new IP that is bold and tonally different from our prior work. From the beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game. Their track record and global expertise give us all the confidence to create a sweeping new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more about in the future.

Though many gamers know of Game Freak’s many Pokemon titles, the company has also worked on other IPs over the years, with recent examples being a puzzle platformer in “Giga Wrecker” and an RPG title in “Little Town Hero.” Project Bloom is still in early development, so we won’t have a release date just yet, but the press release of the partnership states that it is expected to launch within Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2026. The company’s fiscal year runs from April 2025 to March 2026, so the game may come out within that 12-month window.

Once more information on Project Bloom gets released in the future, we’ll keep you updated.

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle Release Date Set for August 30; Gameplay Demo to Be Released on May 11

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, the third-person survival horror title from Invader Studios, is set to launch on August 30 later this year. The Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle release date reveal was made alongside an announcement that a gameplay demo would be available on May 11 for players to try out. Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is the prequel to Daymare: 1998, another survival horror game.

The demo will allow players to try out the beginning of the story and experience both its mechanics and graphics. Players will also gain access to combat, with the ability to try out various in-game weapons such as the “Frost Grip,” a liquid nitrogen-enhanced weapon. Finally, the demo will also provide players with the opportunity to provide feedback and suggestions to the developers, who will then consider the input before launching the final version of the game.

Here’s a description of Daymare 1994: Sandcastle via the official Steam Store page:

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is a third-person story-driven survival horror game Prequel to the critically acclaimed Daymare: 1998. Step into the shoes of special agent Dalila Reyes, a former government spy now in the service of a unit called H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search), and get ready to enter the most advanced experimental research center in the United States of America. Be careful, though, because in the darkness of the desolate, labyrinthine depths of the military research center there is something creepy and lethal awaiting you!

Grab one of the most innovative and technologically advanced weapons of all time and prepare to face never-before-seen creatures while you make your way through a series of frightfully evocative settings all ready to be discovered.

A perfect mix of fierce and deadly enemies, hardcore action game mechanics, environmental puzzles, a chilling soundtrack, plenty of exploration and massive doses of concentrated horror wait for you in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle. No place is safe, especially when you’re being hunted by your nightmares.

• New characters and big comebacks – take part in the top secret “Sandcastle” mission as the game’s main protagonist, Special Agent H.A.D.E.S. Dalila Reyes, and reconstruct the past of some of Daymare: 1998’s most beloved characters.
• Lethal and terrifying enemies – fight, kill and dismember the new enemies that stand between you and the resolution of your mission, so frighteningly intelligent, aggressive and realistic in every detail.
• Revamped interface – the D.I.D. is back, though in a completely redesigned way. Manage your inventory, ammo and health items directly from the new game interface, which has never been so simple and intuitive.
• Eye to the Scanner – thanks to the innovative device installed on Reyes’s arm, you can analyze portions of the environment and reveal new puzzles to solve, pick up secret documents and detect hidden items!
• Environmental puzzles – the solution is often right in front of your eyes! Search for all the clues and overcome the environmental obstacles to obtain resources and collectibles.
• Are you sure it’s dead? – in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, prepare to confront the toughest and most aggressive enemies you have ever seen. Moreover, even if you’re sure you’ve killed one, you’ll find out it can come back in a completely new form and even deadlier than before!
• Breathtaking and immersive graphics, sound effects and soundtrack – thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4, you will live the most terrifying of experiences!
• Back to the 90s… again! – if you loved the nostalgia of Daymare: 1998, in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle will feel like you’re living and playing a typical action horror/film of the 90s. Expect to be transported back in time to many familiar references and a frightfully authentic atmosphere with a retro flavor.
• Freeze! – there will certainly be no shortage of guns, but prepare to equip one of the most innovative and powerful weapons ever created: the Frost Grip! WARNING: it may contain liquid nitrogen.
• Veteran or rookie – choose the most appropriate game difficulty based on your ability in combat and your experience with survival horror. Either way, it will be a serious challenge for the faint-hearted!

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle will be available on various platforms when it releases on August 30, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch port is planned for a later release as well.

Overwatch 2 Update 1.000.015 Released for Starwatch and Gameplay Changes

Overwatch 2 update 1.000.015 is now out on both last-gen and current-gen platforms, and this introduces the Starwatch event alongside a host of adjustments to heroes. Read on for what’s new in the official patch notes below.

Overwatch 2 Update 1.000.015 Patch Notes:

EVENT UPDATES

New Event – Starwatch: Galactic Rescue

Battle for the fate of the galaxy in this new four-point Assault mode. Side with the Watcher rebels alongside the mighty Bonebreaker to rescue 3CH-0 from the Infinite Galactrius starship. Or serve the Infinite Empire and use the starship’s security systems to defend against the intruders. Your choice will decide the fate of the galaxy, for whichever side wins more battles by the end of the event will reign supreme!

Complete event challenges to unlock limited-time cosmetics, like the Asteroid Wrecking Ball epic skin, as well as up to 50,000 Battle Pass XP.

Battle for Olympus Returns

To celebrate Zeus Junker Queen’s victory from Season 2’s Battle for Olympus event, we are bringing back the game mode for a limited-time, including an all new Team Deathmatch version! To further commemorate the victors of Season 2, a statue of the god herself has been erected in Ilios.

GENERAL UPDATES

Ping System
  • “Group Up” can now be used while dead.
  • Added a new setting to Controls -> Communication -> Ping – Options -> Enable Contextual Comms Wheel. When Enabled, this setting changes “Group Up” and “Need Healing” to use alternate comms when aiming at allies. This setting is “Off” by default.
  • Junker Queen can now ping targets through surfaces that her knife is stuck in, in the same way that Zenyatta can ping targets his Discord is attached to.
Push Game Mode Update
  • The respawn time for players is increased by 2 seconds from 10s to 12s while their team’s forward spawn location is activated.

Developer Comments: Forward spawn locations were proving to be too advantageous for the team with the lead, making it a bit too difficult for the disadvantaged team to mount a comeback.

Matchmaking
  • MMR decay system has received multiple improvements aimed at more quickly and accurately re-calibrating players when they return from a long period of inactivity.

COMPETITIVE UPDATES

  • The 2023 Competitive Deathmatch season begins on May 16th!

HERO UPDATES

TANK

JUNKER QUEEN

Developer Comments: These changes increase Junker Queen’s front-line presence by increasing her self-healing and offensive sustainability. We’ve also increased Jagged Blade’s projectile size so it’s more consistent to land.

Scattergun
  • Maximum ammo increased from 6 to 8
Jagged Blade
  • Projectile size increased from 0.15 to 0.20 meters
Rampage
  • Now deals 40 impact damage
  • Wound damage decreased from 100 to 60
Adrenaline Rush
  • Adrenaline passive healing multiplier increased from 1.25 to 2x damage dealt by wounds

ORISA

Developer Comments: Orisa often gets a lot of value with her abilities, but she is underperforming compared to other tanks. Increasing her weapon damage will make her more of an immediate threat after closing the distance with the enemy team.

Augmented Fusion Driver
  • Damage increased from 12 to 13

WINSTON

Developer Comments: It’s difficult to deal full damage with Winston’s leap due to needing to land almost directly on the enemy hero. Increasing this range will improve its consistency.

Jet Pack
  • Damage radius before falloff begins increased from 1 to 1.3 meters

WRECKING BALL

Developer Comments: Adaptive Shields gives Wrecking Ball a lot of leeway in a fight due to its duration. This change to Adaptive Shields limits his survivability during prolonged engagements.

Adaptive Shield
  • Effect duration decreased from 9 to 7 seconds

DAMAGE

ECHO

Developer Comments: The following changes increase the flexibility of Echo’s Duplicate ultimate and shift some of its focus away from the allure of building multiple copied ultimates in a single use. This puts more of an emphasis on choosing a Duplicate target based on the hero’s overall utility for a given situation, with the benefit of increased survivability due to transforming. Echo will get her ultimate more frequently but it will be more difficult to generate the copied hero’s ultimate.

Duplicate
  • Ultimate cost reduced 25%
  • Ultimate generation decreased from 5.5x to 4x while Duplicate is active

JUNKRAT

Developer Comments: The previous adjustment to Concussion Mine’s maximum damage lowered the effectiveness of Junkrat’s grenade and mine combos too much so we are increasing the damage amount slightly.

Concussion Mine
  • Maximum damage increased from 100 to 110

SUPPORT

ANA

Developer Comments: Ana’s survivability has improved significantly ever since the addition of the support passive. We are reducing the amount of healing provided by the Biotic Grenade explosion as she doesn’t need to rely on it for self-healing as much as before.

Biotic Grenade
  • Explosion healing decreased from 100 to 60

BAPTISTE

Developer Comments: Immortality Field provides powerful utility, but its long cooldown means that Baptiste often has to wait for the perfect opportunity to use it. We’re decreasing its cooldown slightly to promote more flexibility in usage, though it will still be uncommon to see it in more than once per engagement.

Immortality Field
  • Cooldown decreased from 25 to 23 seconds

KIRIKO

Developer Comments: Kiriko sometimes accidentally interrupts her Kunai reload with Ofuda. Kunai now reloads slightly sooner during the animation to mitigate this. In addition, there is now a hero option, “Healing Ofuda Cancels Reload,” which can be turned off to bypass this issue entirely.

Kunai
  • Kunai reloads after 65% percent of the animation has completed (formerly 75%)
  • New Hero option: “Healing Ofuda Cancels Reload”

LIFEWEAVER

Developer Comments: Earthshatter is an ultimate where positioning is critical to effectively use, so we are adjusting it so that Reinhardt doesn’t have their ultimate be effectively canceled when Lifeweaver uses Life Grip.

Life Grip
  • Reinhardt is no longer a valid target for Life Grip during Earthshatter, and using Earthshatter will cancel Life Grip.

Starfield ESRB Rating Summary Mentions Sex and a Fictional Drug Named “Aurora”

Starfield’s ESRB rating has finally been revealed, with the game containing various mature elements, including “suggestive material” and a fictional drug named “Aurora.” The game has a rating of Mature 17+, citing “Blood, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Drugs, Violence.”

Here’s the full Starfield ESRB rating summary:

This is an open-world role-playing game in which players assume the role of a miner tasked with finding Artifacts across the galaxy. From first-/third-person perspectives, players interact with various characters, complete quests, and search for supplies while battling enemies (e.g., humans, robots, alien creatures). Players use futuristic guns, lasers, axes, and explosives to kill enemies. Combat is fast-paced, with frequent gunfire, cries of pain, and explosions. Attacks on some enemies can result in blood-splatter effects; several environments depict blood stains on the ground around corpses. The game contains some suggestive material in the dialogue, and after sharing a bed with characters (e.g., “Life is a sexually transmitted disease that’s a hundred percent fatal”; “I’m all for getting a little wild, but next time let’s try it without the jetpacks”; “Talk about seeing stars, whew… that was amazing.”). A fictional drug (Aurora) is prominent in the game, with a section involving players’ characters working in an illicit drug lab; players can also obtain Aurora by stealing or buying it from vendors (consuming Aurora results in a distortion effect on the screen). The words “f**k” and “bullsh*t” appear in the game.

While blood and violence are to be expected from something like Starfield, suggestive language and material isn’t always something you’d come across in video games. The material comes in the form of dialogue after “sharing a bed with characters,” which implies that you can engage in sexual activities throughout the game. The summary also talks about a fictional drug named “Aurora,” which seems to hold some prominence in Starfield, as players will be working in a drug lab during the story. You will also be able to buy or sell the drugs, which may be a form of income for the player.

Starfield launches this September 6, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Apex Legends Update 2.23 Patch Notes \ Apex Legends May 9 Patch Notes:

NEW LEGEND: BALLISTIC

Before the Apex Games, a more brutal competition held sway: the Thunderdome Games! Here, sibling fighters Sok Leng and Kit Siang Phua reigned supreme. They were joined by August Brinkman, Sok Leng’s eventual husband. But when August’s selfish playstyle led to Kit Siang’s death, August would retreat from the Games, from Sok Leng, and from their young son, Nate.

August spent decades as a recluse. When Nate decides to follow his family’s legacy into the arena, August returns to strike a deal to reenter the Games in his son’s place.

RANKED UPDATE

Important TLDR:

  • New matchmaking by hidden skill rating, with skill adjustments made on premade sizes to account for the competitive advantages gained
  • New Scoring system that emphasizes winning the battle royale
  • New Bonus system that conditionally rewards wins and compensates losses
  • No more split reset, with a full seasonal reset started off with 10 provisional games
  • Ranked will now require account level 50 to play

Read the full breakdown of the new points of interest and other changes in our full blog here.

WEAPON MASTERY

Weapon Mastery is our first new long-term progression system outside of account level! As we look to make Apex Legends more approachable for new players, this system incentivizes learning about the strengths and character of all our weapons. The goal is to deepen player engagement across the board regardless of who you main or which mode you prefer.

At the season launch, all players will start with every weapon at level 1 and can start progressing their weapon levels by using them in any game mode. Having a weapon in hand, dealing damage, securing kills, and fighting with style will all generate Weapon XP for that weapon. Every 20 levels, a weapon-specific trial will unlock for you to test your skill with that weapon and reward you for completion. Get your weapon to level 100 and finish all five trials to fully “master” that weapon and earn the final rewards. Each weapon mastery track will earn players weapon-specific badges, lifetime performance trackers, legendary weapon mastery banner frames, and a Legendary Weapon Apex Pack for each weapon.

FIRING RANGE UPDATES

Read the full breakdown of all the updates coming to Firing Range in our full blog here.

NEW SURVIVAL SLOT ITEM: EVAC TOWER

The Evac Tower is the latest loot item to hit the Outlands. This portable Jump Tower can shape the battlefield in your squad’s favor by offering a quick escape or setting up a deadly assault. Harness the power of the skies, but be careful when you use it – players can destroy the Evac Tower and leave you high and dry!

PING SYSTEM UPDATES

Pings are the main method of non-verbal communication in Apex Legends, and coordination is the key to victory! This season, we’ve updated the system to better serve the game as it exists today. We’ve removed some Pings from the default Ping Wheel with lower usage rates, added several new pings, and added quality of life improvements to how pinging operates in game. Our goal is to give all players, especially those not using voice chat, access to some quick combat ‘phrases’ to help orient team action.

On the default Ping Wheel you will see 3 new pings:

  • Avoid Area
  • Enemy Audio
  • Regroup

You will also see an expanded set of options when you are Downed or in Dropship for the initial drop into the BR.

Lastly, we’ve improved Pinging from the Map behaviors in the following ways:

  • In-game objects that have map icons (Respawn Beacons, Crafters, Wildlife, etc) can now be Pinged from the map; creating accurate waypoints with callouts
  • When pinging generic waypoints on the map they will have more accurate placement in World Space

LIVEAPI IMPROVEMENTS AND DOCUMENTATION

This season will have some updates to the LiveAPI based on player and developer feedback. These include improvements to existing functionality and messages, new events, and extensive additions to documentation including some examples in Python.

  • Support for Secure WebSockets (WSS) server connections
    • Configurable SSL verification, to allow self-signed certificates
  • Request validation through pre-shared key mechanism that can be specified through `cl_liveapi_requests_psk`
  • Newly added game event broadcast delay that affects only real-time WebSocket connections, configurable through `cl_liveapi_ws_event_delay`
  • Additional documentation and snippets added to events.proto file
    • Includes sample values, code snippets in Python and expected API behavior
  • Change for API request acknowledgements not behaving as intended
    • Introduction of the RequestStatus message for more detailed explanations
  • Fix for 4KB message payload truncation seen mostly when using JSON data format
  • Fix for PlayerRevive event where the revived player field was incorrectly typed as a string instead of a Player message
  • New WarpGateUsed and ObserverAnnotation events
  • Downgrade of most uint64 fields to uint32 to ensure serialization as numbers and not strings in JSON
    • All timestamp fields remain as uint64. Developers should take note when using JSON data format instead of Protobuf.

More information, including technical documentation, can be found in the LiveAPI folder at the root of the game installation.
