Apex Legends patch 2.23 and 1.000.037 is out for PlayStation owners via preload! While the patch is available to be downloaded now, it can’t be installed until tomorrow, May 9, when Season 17 “Arsenal” launches for everyone on all platforms. Thankfully, the patch notes are available now, so players can have an idea what new content is incoming along with the gameplay changes.

Apex Legends Patch 2.23 and 1.000.037 Preload Patch Notes:

NEW LEGEND: BALLISTIC

Before the Apex Games, a more brutal competition held sway: the Thunderdome Games! Here, sibling fighters Sok Leng and Kit Siang Phua reigned supreme. They were joined by August Brinkman, Sok Leng’s eventual husband. But when August’s selfish playstyle led to Kit Siang’s death, August would retreat from the Games, from Sok Leng, and from their young son, Nate.

August spent decades as a recluse. When Nate decides to follow his family’s legacy into the arena, August returns to strike a deal to reenter the Games in his son’s place.

PASSIVE: SLING

Store a third weapon in the sling. Access via inventory or Character Utility Action Button. The sling weapon cannot take attachments.

TACTICAL: WHISTLER

Shoots a projectile that heats up an enemy’s gun as they shoot. Overheating causes damage. Hold the Tactical to lock-on.

ULTIMATE: TEMPEST

Nearby teammates get faster reloads, faster-armed move speed, and Infinite Ammo. The sling weapon will be upgraded to gold.

WEAPON MASTERY

Weapon Mastery is our first new long-term progression system outside of account level! As we look to make Apex Legends more approachable for new players, this system incentivizes learning about the strengths and character of all our weapons. The goal is to deepen player engagement across the board regardless of who you main or which mode you prefer.

At the season launch, all players will start with every weapon at level 1 and can start progressing their weapon levels by using them in any game mode. Having a weapon in hand, dealing damage, securing kills, and fighting with style will all generate Weapon XP for that weapon. Every 20 levels, a weapon-specific trial will unlock for you to test your skill with that weapon and reward you for completion. Get your weapon to level 100 and finish all five trials to fully “master” that weapon and earn the final rewards. Each weapon mastery track will earn players weapon-specific badges, lifetime performance trackers, legendary weapon mastery banner frames, and a Legendary Weapon Apex Pack for each weapon.

FIRING RANGE UPDATES

Read the full breakdown of all the updates coming to Firing Range in our full blog here.

NEW SURVIVAL SLOT ITEM: EVAC TOWER

The Evac Tower is the latest loot item to hit the Outlands. This portable Jump Tower can shape the battlefield in your squad’s favor by offering a quick escape or setting up a deadly assault. Harness the power of the skies, but be careful when you use it – players can destroy the Evac Tower and leave you high and dry!

PING SYSTEM UPDATES

Pings are the main method of non-verbal communication in Apex Legends, and coordination is the key to victory! This season, we’ve updated the system to better serve the game as it exists today. We’ve removed some Pings from the default Ping Wheel with lower usage rates, added several new pings, and added quality of life improvements to how pinging operates in game. Our goal is to give all players, especially those not using voice chat, access to some quick combat ‘phrases’ to help orient team action.

On the default Ping Wheel you will see 3 new pings:

  • Avoid Area
  • Enemy Audio
  • Regroup

You will also see an expanded set of options when you are Downed or in Dropship for the initial drop into the BR.

Lastly, we’ve improved Pinging from the Map behaviors in the following ways:

  • In-game objects that have map icons (Respawn Beacons, Crafters, Wildlife, etc) can now be Pinged from the map; creating accurate waypoints with callouts
  • When pinging generic waypoints on the map they will have more accurate placement in World Space

PlayStation Plus PS5 Collection Discontinues Tomorrow; Persona 5 Reportedly Available to Some Members

In case you missed it, the PlayStation Plus Collection deal, an exclusive selection of games that’s free to claim for PS Plus subscribers, will be discontinued starting May 9, tomorrow. This means that it’s your last chance to add the games from the collection to your library if you haven’t done so already. The discontinuation of the collection was announced last February.

For those unfamiliar with the PlayStation Plus Collection, it’s a catalog of PS4 games that users can claim on PS5 consoles. Here’s the full list of games:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy 15 Royal Edition
  • God of War
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Resident Evil 7
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Until Dawn

It’s worth noting that some users have claimed that Persona 5 is available to them via the PlayStation Plus Collection, though not everyone seems to have this offer (via Resetera), so keep that in mind.

To claim the PS Plus Collection games, you’ll need to access them via your PS5 console, not via the official store website or a PS4, as the deal is only available on the PS5. Simply head to the PS Plus tabs, head to the Benefits section, and scroll down until you find the PlayStation Plus Collection tab. There, you’ll find the full list of games to download. You don’t need to actually download the games to keep them; simply select the option to add the games to your library and they’re yours.

Again, if you haven’t claimed these games yet, you might want to start firing up your PS5 ASAP before it’s gone tomorrow. Enjoy your free games!

Sonic Frontiers Sales Passes 3.5 Million Copies Sold, Considered a “Great Hit” by SEGA

Just last month, we reported that Sonic Frontiers managed to break 3.2 million units sold. Well, it seems that figure has already been eclipsed, as SEGA has announced that Sonic Frontiers sales have now breached 3.5 million copies sold!

This was announced by SEGA during their the company’s Rovio press conference where the studio talked about the company’s future where other games were discussed. In it, Shuji Utsumi, Co-COO and President of Consumer Game and Transmedia at SEGA mentioned, ” SEGA has introduced a new Sonic title every year. The last year, we introduced Sonic Frontiers…we released last year, it was a great hit, already hitting 3.5 million units.”

You can watch Utsumi’s announcement in the video below (around the 16:30 mark):

This new sales development shouldn’t really come as a surprise, as just a few months ago, SEGA announced that the title has ‘greatly exceeded” the original expectations for it. Thankfully, the game is being supported with post-launch content starting with the Sights, Sounds and Speed update released in March. Outside of that, SEGA has also confirmed that there are two more free content updates planned for Sonic Frontiers for the year as well. Once we know more about it, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Congrats, SEGA! I assume this means a sequel is incoming. While nothing has been announced just yet, the game’s director did say that they players shouldn’t expect “boosting” to be a part of it.

Thanks, @Radical_1991!

Payday 3 Teaser Trailer Released, Gameplay Reveal Set for Summer

Earlier this year, Starbreeze Studios gave us a logo reveal and short teaser for Payday 3. The studio alongside publisher Prime Matter have once again rolled out a new Payday 3 teaser, but this time, letting us know the gameplay reveal is set for this summer.

Yep, that’s about it. With the US summer set to start this June, we have about a month and a half’s wait before we see anything tangible for the heist-themed shooter.

Check out the game description via its Steam page:

ABOUT THIS GAME
PAYDAY 3 is the much anticipated sequel to one of the most popular co-op shooters ever. Since its release, PAYDAY-players have been reveling in the thrill of a perfectly planned and executed heist. That’s what makes PAYDAY a high-octane, co-op FPS experience without equal.

Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law-enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement.

Wishlist now and follow the steam group to get any updates as we draw closer to launch.

No platforms have been confirmed outside of PC, but the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S getting the game are surefire bets. For reference, Payday 2 was released way back in 2013 for every gaming platform available at the time.

DNF Duel Review – An Interesting Fighter

There seems to be a glut of fighting games lately, and the Nintendo Switch hasn’t been left out of the fun. Arc System Works has completed their port of DNF Duel, almost a year after its initial release on other consoles. Time to find out if the wait was worth it in our DNF Duel Switch version review.

Full-On fighting

For the un-initiated, Dungeon & Fighter (DNF for short) is a series of side-scrolling beat-’em-ups that originally released on PC in 2005. While the series has seen several spin-offs and mobile games, DNF Duel represents the first full-fledged fighting game, and it was previously released on the PC, PS4, and PS5. While the Switch may be underpowered compared to other consoles, it remains extremely popular and thus Arc System Works felt it was worth their time to port the game on over to Nintendo’s system.

The Unreal Engine 4 runs under the hood, and it does an admirable job of keeping the action fairly smooth. However, the Switch is definitely showing its age, because character models often suffer from some blurriness, and of course everything in general is lower-resolution than other current (and last generation) console ports. This is perhaps the worst-looking version of DNF Duel, however it has one major thing working for it: it allows you to play on the go!

Manage Your MP

DNF Duel uses an MP-based attack system, which is pretty unique. At the start of each round, both players start with 100 MP. Attacks cost MP, with bigger attacks consuming more of the MP. As MP goes down, consecutive attacks do less and less damage, until finally the player runs out of MP and their player becomes exhausted. At this point, no MP skills can be used until this state is exhausted, which usually only takes a few moments. As a player’s HP gets lowered, the maximum MP they can accumulate increases, to a maximum of 200. If a player’s HP drops below 30%, then they enter an Awakened state, and a simple press of ZL will unleash an ultimate move, which can cause a lot of damage in one move, with a full cinematic animation accompanying a successful hit. This can help to keep matches from being too lopsided.

Outside of the MP system, DNF Duel features standard fare for the genre. There are regular attacks that can be performed at any time, and many combos can be unleashed with mastery of the controls. From a difficulty standpoint, DNF Duel is among the easiest to pick up and learn, and the tutorial system explains the basics pretty clearly. While in theory the MP system can create closer matches, in reality plenty of players have already figured out how to “cheese” certain characters.

Barebones Feature Set

There’s not a whole lot to DNF Duel, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There are three modes to choose from: online, local, and training. There is a story mode, with around ten chapters per playable character, and each campaign is fully-voiced. Most cutscenes are presented in a visual novel style, though occasionally some in-engine animated content can be seen. Clearing any character’s campaign unlocks an additional playable character. Each story usually features just a handful of fights, so completing all campaigns in a handful of hours is easily doable.

Online is also fairly limited, with ranked matches or player matches being the only options. While waiting to be matched to an opponent, the player can choose to practice. There is no rollback netcode, so if you’re playing on Wi-Fi, then you will no doubt be at a disadvantage compared to someone playing over a cable. There is no crossplay available, so expect to play that practice mode for quite a while as you wait for another challenger.

Verdict

DNF Duel is a great fighter to play on the go, even if it can be rough around the edges from time to time. Still, nothing beats the freedom of being able to play whenever and wherever you want. With 16 characters to start with, each with quite different play styles, hardcore fighting fans have plenty to master in the palms of their hands.

Score: 7.5/10

Pros:

  • A varied roster to start
  • Great art style
  • Fully-voiced campaigns – one per character

Cons:

  • Some very overpowered options
  • Graphics have taken a huge hit
  • Already low online player population with no crossplay

Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie Trailer Leaks, Watch It Now (Update)

In case you didn’t know, horror gaming series Five Nights at Freddy’s is getting the film treatment. If you’re curious how that will look, you don’t have to wait long, as the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie trailer has leaked online!

The trailer can be seen in the videos below split into two parts:

Update: Twitter videos have been taken down, but someone on Reddit reuploaded a mirror!

Check it out here.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Five Nights at Freddy’s (also called FNaF for short) was created by Scott Cawthon, and had its first game released back in 2014 on PC. The game takes place in a fictional family pizzeria called “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” where the player takes the role of a security guard who must defend themselves from the restaurant’s animatronic characters that become mobile and homicidal at night.

To date, there have been over 10 games released under the franchise, with the latest mainline release titled “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach” pushed out in 2021 for the PS4, PS5 and PC with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions released in April 2022.

As for the film, it’s set for release this October 27, 2023, and stars (via Collider) Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) as the night guard, Matthew Lillard (Scream) as William Afton, Elizabeth Lail (You) as Vanessa, Mary Stuart Masterton (Fried Green Tomatoes) as an as-yet-unnamed villain, Piper Rubio (Unstable) as Abby, and Kat Conner Sterling (A Week Away) as Max.

With today’s leak, expect the official trailer to be released soon.

Thanks, AegisXC!

Destiny 2 Season Pass Increase Confirmed Starting With Season 21

Those who plan to buy Destiny 2 Season Passes piecemeal, we have some bad news for you: Bungie has announced that there is a 10% price increase for the standard Destiny 2 Season Pass, which is applicable once Season 21: Season of the Deep rolls around.

Destiny 2 Season Pass Increase Details:

Season Pass: 1,000 Silver -> 1,200 Silver

Season Pass + 10 Ranks Bundle: 2,000 Silver -> 2,200 Silver

This a price hike of 10% overall, and equates to a real-world money increase of $10 to $12 per season, and around $20 to $22 if you’re getting the one with the rank bundles (which helps you progress the season with a little boost). According to Bungie, they will be “evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape.”

Destiny 2’s Season 21: Season of the Deep will kick off on May 23 on all platforms.

Report: Plaion Restructuring Game Publishing Business, Dropping Deep Silver, Prime Matter and Ravenscourt Labels

A new report has revealed that German-Austrian media company Plaion (formerly Koch Media), a subsidiary of Embracer Group, is restructuring its game publishing business, with roughly “five to six jobs” at stake as the company looks to drop its Deep Silver, Prime Matter, and Ravenscourt labels.

Having rebranded from Koch Media to Plaion last year, the company was acquired in 2018 by Embracer Group (then known as THQ Nordic AB) and since then has responsible for Shenmue III, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the Saints Row reboot, Evil West, and Dead Island 2 amongst other successful video game titles. Though Embracer recently revealed a colossal number of game projects in development, Plaion still feels the need to restructure given the economic challenges the industry has faced during the last few years.

Its subsidiaries Deep Silver, Prime Matter, and Ravenscourt will reportedly be merged into one, with future titles being published under the Plaion brand. However, the process is expected to take up to twelve months, with games possibly still being published under the existing labels “over the next couple of years.”

The report does not mention Plaion’s subsidiary development studios Warhorse and Milestone, with the brands possibly remaining unaffected through the change. A Plaion representative commented that the restructuring is part of “simplifying our publishing operations” and with only five to six jobs likely to be eliminated out of the company’s 2000-strong workforce.

Sony Studio PixelOpus Is Shutting Down

PixelOpus, the video game studio under Sony that made Entwined and Concrete Genie, has announced that it would be shutting down. The announcement was made over Twitter, with the tweet thanking the players who tried out and enjoyed the studio’s two released titles.

Here’s the tweet:

Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end. As we look to new futures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the millions of passionate players who have supported us, and our mission to make beautiful, imaginative games with heart.
We are so grateful! ❤️🙏

The announcement doesn’t come with any specific information, so we don’t know for sure what will become of the devs within PixelOpus. The studio had been hiring talent in 2021 to work on a third game while collaborating with Sony Pictures Animation on “an exciting new PlayStation 5 title” that would run on Unreal Engine 5 (via VGC).

With this announcement, it’s unsure as to whether the game is still in development or not, or if players will even get to see what it looks like. It’s possible that work on the project was handed over to another team, though all we can do at this point is wait for an official statement on the matter.

CS:GO Concurrent Player Count Reaches All-Time High Yet Again at Over 1.5 Million

Despite being over a decade old, popular multiplayer FPS game Counter-Strike:Global Offensive has reached a concurrent player all-time high yet again. The latest record of CS:GO’s concurrent player count has reached a grand total of over 1,533,939 players.

The record-breaking number currently shows on SteamCharts and is also today’s highest concurrent player count as of writing.

You can find the link to the SteamCharts page here.

For reference, CS:GO broke a previous concurrent player count record earlier this February to the tune of 1,320,219 players. This means that in the span of just a few months, the number has ballooned by over a whopping 200,000 concurrent players, which is definitely impressive given the game’s decade-old status.

Interestingly, it’s worth noting that the concurrent player count increased following the announcement of Counter-Strike 2, which occurred on March 22. It’s possible that both new players and returning veterans are playing CS:GO to hone their skills before CS2’s launch in Summer 2023, or they simply want to play the game a bit more before it gets outshined by the upcoming Counter-Strike title.

As the player count is steadily rising, it’s highly possible that the concurrent player count will continue to rise from here on out. Even if it doesn’t, getting over 1.5 million people to play a game at once is no small feat, and it will be interesting to see how CS2’s concurrent player count fares once the game launches later this year.

Thanks, DANNYonPC!

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Bug Causes Boss to Have Infinite Health, Preventing Story Progress

Recently, a game-breaking bug for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been discovered, preventing players from proceeding through the game’s story until the bug is patched. The Jedi: Survivor bug affects a certain boss, giving it unlimited health and preventing the player from beating it.

A bug report was made on the EA Answers website, with multiple users also mentioning the same problem in the replies. Spoiler warning: the post does contain the boss’s name. You can find the bug report here. Essentially, if you defeat the boss while the boss kills you at the same time, the boss will respawn in subsequent attempts with unlimited health. Its health remains unchanged even after restarting the game, which essentially results in players being unable to continue playing the story. You will also be unable to backtrack or fast-travel to the boss, either.

The report is as follows (spoiler warning):

Product: STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
Platform:Xbox Series S
Summarize your bug Me and rayvis traded during our fight, so now rayvis is in a broken state were I can not kill him, even when I restarted my game/console he is still in the same broken state, so now I can’t progress through the game at all
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? To get the bug to occur, die at the same time you defeat rayvis
What happens when the bug occurs? When the bug occurs the player gets locked into one area with a boss that can not be defeated
What do you expect to see? expect to see a fix to rayvis or a way to load into a previous save

The bug was posted on Reddit to warn players, with the original poster stating that players shouldn’t “risk boss battles” and to restart the fight if things get dicey. Unfortunately, this means that you can’t simply take down bosses haphazardly, so you’ll want to play safe if you want to avoid running into the bug. Fortunately, EA and Respawn are aware of the issue, with a member of the team claiming that they are “working on a fix for this now.” No timeline was given regarding the bug, so affected players will have to wait until it’s patched in a later update.

Jedi: Survivor is dealing with quite a few bugs and issues as of late, with a recent one causing players’ pre-order bonus items to disappear. Outside its performance issues and bugs, however, Jedi: Survivor is a good game; you can read our review of it here.

The Halo Infinite May update is set to launch in just a week on May 10, and 343 Industries has announced all the major changes set to arrive during the upcoming patch. The new features include the Super Fiesta game mode, updates to Ranked King of the Hill, and UX/UI updates, among other things.

Here’s a condensed list of every major detail regarding the May update:

Halo Infinite May Update Info:

MODE UPDATES

Super Fiesta – The party is just getting started. The fan-favorite mode from Halo 5 will make its explosive return with this update as campaign’s unique weapon variants and fully upgraded Equipment enter the Arena.

Ranked King of the Hill – Based on player feedback, the Hill will now spawn-in faster at the start of the match and no longer have a “wind-up” time when a player initially enters it.

• The initial hill spawn has been reduced from 15 seconds to 5 seconds
• The wind-up period to score has been removed
• Players can score right away when stepping into the hill
• This allows players to quickly score while maneuvering grenades and avoiding damage all up

SANDBOX BALANCE TUNING

Disruptor – Overall, we wanted to reduce the complexity of this weapon – which currently Supercombines, deals damage over time (DOT), slows Spartans, chain reacts to other players, etc. – while still ensuring that it could be successful in combat. The Disruptor will have an increased rate of fire and Supercombine damage, but will no longer deal DOT and its chain reaction distance will be halved.

• Removed Damage Over Time
• Reduced chain distance from 5 World Units (wu) to 2.5 wu
• Increased Supercombine damage from 60 to 70
• Increased ROF from 4.285 to 5 rounds per second

Spike Grenades – We noticed that with its current tuning, Spike Grenades were dealing high damage but not requiring as much precision as a Frag or Plasma Grenade. To address this, we’re bringing the behavior of Halo Infinitee’s Spike Grenade more in line with Halo 3’s Spike Grenade by tightening the explosion cone and reducing the damage radius while increasing the number of flechettes.

• Increased number of flechette submunitions that are released on detonation from 8 to 16
• Reduced flechette travel distance from 5 World Units (wu) to 3.5wu
• Reduced Area of Effect (AOE) damage radius from 3.2 wu to 2 wu
• Reduced AOE damage amount from 300 damage to 160
• Adjusted flechette bounce behavior to deviate less

Dynamo Grenades – Similar to the Spike Grenade, we wanted to make sure the Dynamo Grenade was being used more deliberately during gameplay. To do this, we’ve reduced the area of effect (AOE), reduced the chain reaction distance, and removed its movement slowdown properties while slightly increasing its damage potential.

• Reduced shock Area of Effect (AOE) distance from 3.5 wu (World Units) to 2 wu
• Reduced shock chain distance from 5 wu to 2 wu
• Increased shock damage per burst from 18 to 21
• Removed movement stun from shock damage
• Lowered arming time from 0.65 to 0.5 seconds
• Reduced delay between shock damage pulses from 0.3 to 0.25 seconds
• Added one additional shock damage pulse at 2.5 seconds

Shroud Screen – In Ranked Arena, the Shroud Screen will be updated to have 1 charge upon pickup.

FORGE

The May Update will bring a nice quality of life update to Forge in the form of PC screenshot uploading and numerous bug fixes. This includes improvements to the Z-fighting movement controls, Forge monitor movement speed, and more.

FPS COUNTER ON XBOX

One quality of life update that we’re excited about is the addition of an FPS Counter option on Xbox consoles. Not only does this provide great contextual information for you while playing in a match, but it’s also vital for Forgers looking to build maps that have steady performance (framerate).

UXUI

• In this update, we’re also excited to be rolling out a few highly requested improvements to our menus.
• The matchmaking menu will also receive an update which will allow twice as many playlists to be visible at once – from 5 playlists to 10 – before needing to scroll down.
• Last, but certainly not least, a selection of bundles from previous seasons will be able to be purchased through the customization menu.

RESOLVED ISSUES

• Various server and client stability improvements (reduced server and game crashes)
• Various Theater / Observer improvements and bug fixes
• Halo Infinite will no longer crash on launch when attempting to play on a PC that is below the minimum specifications. This was an unintended bug that caused the game to crash before showing the below minimum specification warning message.
• Players can once again choose to continue past this warning message, but the expected functionality and visual experience are not guaranteed
• To learn more about PC hardware specifications, please visit our PC Hardware Specs and Drivers guide on the Halo Support site
• Addressed an issue causing Wasp “gun jamming” when playing with the Bumper Jumper control scheme
• Cutscenes should no longer replay when relaunching the game

Halo Infinite is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Hits 4 Million Players Across All Platforms

Following the game’s launch on Xbox platforms in April, Tango Gameworks and Bethesda Softworks have announced that Ghostwire: Tokyo has amassed a playerbase of over four million players across all platforms,

Having launched in March 2022 with timed PlayStation exclusivity, Tango Gameworks’ first-person karate-meets-magic title Ghostwire: Tokyo follows 22-year-old Japanese student Akito Izuki as he wakes up in a devastated, empty Tokyo following a fatal accident. Forcibly inhabited by the spirit of the deceased “KK,” a former police detective with magical combat powers, Akito takes on a frightening spirit invasion commanded by the mysterious cult leader Hannya as he struggles to rescue his sister from the latter’s clutches with KK’s help.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was announced to be coming to Xbox following Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media, though the release window was not revealed until much later. Microsoft made good on its promise this year following the end of the exclusivity period, with the game launching on Xbox Series X|S as well as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming (allowing Xbox One gamers to play the title as well) in April. If you’re wondering whether or not to pick it up, check out our 8.5/10 review of the title where we found it “a solid foundation for what is hopefully the start of a beautiful franchise.”

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engramfrom Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.
