MW3 – Must be Over 18 to Use Elite. This Could Change Soon

Call of Duty Elite is the perfect service for the hardcore CoD players, but its launch has been anything but smooth.

The service hasn’t been stable through the day even after increasing its capacity last night. The latest update from the Elite team is “teams working hard & increased reg. capacity 4x today; devs focused on ELITE stats access as more come online. Please hang in there.”  The other issue “potential” Elite users are facing is the age requirement. At the moment, you have to be of legal age in order to be a member of Elite. This is an issue that specially struck Hardened edition owners as they have already purchased their copies without knowing the age restriction. Activision customer support stated that “we are currently looking into this issue. We hope to have something for you [under age Elite members] soon.” It’s worth noting that Modern warfare 3 is rated M for Mature, at least on paper.

It should be ’17′ not ’18′ as 17 is the age recommended for ‘M’ games.

Anyone under 18 who does not yet know to lie about their age is naive.

A lot of services require you to put your age as 18 or older or you will be denied access to services. Classic example of this is Xbox Live. If you don’t put above 18 you won’t be able to get DLC, games, gamerpics, themes, videos of M+ rated games.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t be 18+ as you’re SUPPOSED to be 18+ to even have the game. But we all know plenty of annoying brats play the game anyway and already get around the age restrictions and will do for elite too. So unless they intend on policing it properly then what’s the point even trying to restrict elite too? Not like it even works most of the time anyway.

I bought the MW3 hardened edition. I also happen to be 17 years old. In the US, you need to be 17 or older to buy the game, which I am. I am angry that the service I paid for is not being rendered( at the moment). All I want is my founder status, my dlc, and stats tracking, all of which I legally PAID for, you know? If I am old enough to be in college, I should be old enough to play a video game, or at least use it’s online service.

well maybe in usa but here in aus ma games are 15yrs + and everything here is 15 not 18 so…. its abit unfair for us from 15 to 18 who can legally buy it but cant use a part of what we purchased………….
