New Battlefield 4 PC Game Update Fixes Issues Caused By Last Patch

A small but very necessary update has recently hit the PC version of Battlefield 4.

It fixes a number of issues that were introduced in the last PC game update that launched earlier in the week, including terrain flickering for SLI/CrossFire users and UI items becoming stuck on the screen after being revived.

Check out the full list of fixes below:

December 20 Battlefield 4 PC Patch Notes

  • Fix for terrain flickering when using SLI/CrossFire setup
  • Fix for three of the top crash issues on the PC platform
  • Fix for case when soldier can die with 1 HP instead of 0
  • Fix for the issue where the revive UI could be permanently shown after accepting a revive

In addition, yet another server update went live across all platforms, looking at a few performance optimizations, as well as fixes for a couple of server crashes and graphical bugs.

R17 Server Update Notes

  • Fix for two server crashes
  • Fix for a graphical bug that could occur when players accepted a revive within 1 second
  • Server performance optimizations

Try it out and let us know – how do you feel Battlefield 4 plays on the PC after the last few patches?

        I’m ready.

        • SandorLive

          I too

    • DerpSlayer

People bitch that they don’t patch enough, now people bitch that they patch too much. Wow, they can’t win.

      • SandorLive

The problem is not the patch, but to release a broken game that crashes a lot of times. BF4 is a good game better than the predecessor but the soon release has created a lot of problems. I’m in according with patching of a game but a patch every 5 days I think that something is wrong.

        • DerpSlayer

They’re working on it. Calm down.

      • James Mulhall

Not sure if serious or.. clearly a Battlefield fanboy.

You should blame consoles, cod and kids for this one.

        • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

Why blame consoles? It not as if Battlefield in the past ran perfectly. Battlefield 2 was almost as much a mess as this game is.

          • James Mulhall

I’m not blaming consoles.. it was a reference as to how DerpSlayer thinks consoles ruin games, and how CoD only attracts kids, which is the reason why he hates CoD and has to mention it every chance he gets.

            • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

Ahh gotcha. Been out of the loop regarding DerpSlayer here.

      • born2expire

Their biggest problem is they patch one problem and create 2 more.

      • dpg70

Having fun with it is not bitching. If there is any bitching its because they should have never needed this many patches to begin with.

      • Oblivion_Lost667

I think you’re reading into why they’re complaining about the patches wrong, it’s not because they have to update a lot or something trivial, it’s because of the fact that BF4 NEEDED so many patches to be properly playable.

    • awkenney

I admit that I prefer that they patch the game rather than leave it broken, but I’d rather they had never launched with so many things broken in the first place. Hindsight, but it’s important for the integrity of the series and of DICE.

  • James Mulhall

I seriously don’t get it.. how could you not have noticed ALL these crashes during testing? You don’t even need to be a tester to notice something is wrong with the game before releasing with how often it happens.

    • VisceralVenom

Because! They released a unfinished game to compete with Call Of Duty and even someone within the Development Team even released information about how Dice is this disastrous Company now.

Also, why test your own game when you could save money, by releasing a unfinished game to the general public and have them Test the game for you, and constantly patch it like Cal Of Duty! They’re all retards these days…..

      • James Mulhall

Agreed with you until you said “patch it like Call of Duty”.. Call of Duty games don’t crash after 1 or 2 matches..

      • James Mulhall

Agreed with everything you said until “constantly patch it like Call of Duty!”.. Call of Duty doesn’t crash after 1 or 2 matches and the only patches they release for their game are balance patches or bug fixes, and they do it pretty often, something that DICE need to do for their games more often, the only reason BF4 has so many patches already is because of these crashes, patches would be rare without these crashes.

        • Oblivion_Lost667

Sadly the patches bit is true, DICE is simply slow at throwing out patches, and outside of the actual bug fixes, I haven’t seen too much in the way of balancing. (Ever use the starting shotgun with slugs in hardcore? It one shots, that gun is NOT balanced at all.)

    • jj16802

You know, I don’t think I noticed any of these issues during the public beta…. which is really odd.

  • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

I named my dog after Battlefield. Patches.

  • VisceralVenom

It still runs like rancid asshole. Fuck you EA!

    • Warlon

      Buy a better computer?

    • http://thatk1d.tumblr.com/ Bill Flocka Cosby

It’s been running fine for me. It must be something on your end.

      • Hot-Wire

        Ha! I get it.

  • Ryan Schulze

Wonder if they can eventually release a full game download with all the fixes built in. I’m curious how large the growing BF4 is on my PS4. The BF4 I play an average of 2 hours a week, but takes way more space on my hard drive than any other game.

  • leeroynewman

Do they will to make an other patch to fix this patch for a patch?

    • Warlon

*Will they make another patch to fix this patch that patched another patch?

      • RoadTripToJalalabad

YO DAWG WE HEARD YOU LIKE PATCHES, SO HERE’S A PATCH FOR THE OTHER PATCH.

  • dpg70

I am still laughing at the title.

    Because its so true

  • Raider

The game runs fine for me (PS4) now. Except for the occasional lag and rubber banding. Don’t get me wrong I am just as pissed as everyone else about the launch quality of the game no one wants to pay $60+ for a game that needs to constantly be fixed.. However I’m slightly satisfied with the way they’ve conducted themselves recently buy owing up to their mistakes, and attempting to correct them.

  • Ricardo

Lol I wish DICE would have some balls and say to the world that this is EAs fault for making them rush the game out to compete with you know whos other FPS.

    • Warlon

I still prefer a game needing some network timings tweaked and some random crashes then being straight out 100% lied to by you know whos other FPS. I wish steam had refunds. To me BF3 was a terrible launch, I had to go out and buy a new sound card because of the 5 minute audio crash. BF4 has had some inconveniences, but not to the point it cost me money out of my pocket.

    • oofy

I’m pretty sure bad mouthing your employer, even if it’s well deserved, is a one way ticket to unemployment.

      • Ricardo

DICE could easily find a new publisher.

        • oofy

          Unless EA owns the IP.

          • Ricardo

True. :l Meh but still this is all EAs fault for rushing the damn game. BF4 should have been released in 2015 or 2016..

            • Oblivion_Lost667

It shouldn’t have taken another whole year to release this game unless DICE is a really bad and/or slow developer, even a month or two later it would’ve been fine, and the same could’ve been said for BF3. Though you can’t blame EA 100% for everything with the game, DICE should’ve been pumping out patches faster, their dev team is rather large, it took them a very long time to fix the Defuse gamemode’s spectator problems which made the gamemode practically unplayable. DICE is not without their own faults, which most people seem to forget and just decide “Oh, no, it’s just EAs fault, they ruin everything.”. Devs still get some say in the development of the game, and if they truly didn’t like the way things were going, they could leave, much like members Infinity Ward did to Activision, and make a new franchise.

        • zakrocz

Dice is pretty much EA now.

  • Tyler Dominick

Keep up all the hard work guys! Cant wait to play later tonight! Hooah!

  • awkenney

I’ve killed a LOT of enemies at 1HP. This fix is gonna suck for me.

  • NinoBr0wn

Dying with health, and the revive HUD still being on screen needs to be fixed on consoles too. It sucks being killed, then going on a streak with that bar blocking your view. Why isn’t it in the middle/bottom if the screen anyway?

    • Oblivion_Lost667

It’ll be fixed, they just have to go through Sony’s/MS’s approval process before it gets released.

  • Sensou-Ookami

I want to get this game for the PS4 someday, but from what I see with EA I might just not. Such a bummer, bugs everywhere, they ruined it. :(

    • Oblivion_Lost667

BF3 had bugs everywhere too for a while, I’m not even sure if they ever completely patched PS3′s input lag problem.

      • Ben August

They *mostly* fixed it- at about the ONE YEAR mark!!

But that was only after: they denied it; told us we were on crack for thinking it existed; insulted us; and then “fixed” it multiple times (but didn’t actually fix it at all), until it was finally fixed around the time “End Game” released.

But the gun handling still leaves much to be desired, as to other BF offerings/other FPS offerings (feels like there is mouse acceleration in the ps3 version).

I’d say the way they handled the PS3 Input Lag, plus the fact it had no MIC support for ~2-3 months plus, on top of all the glitches…that really impacted my viewpoint on both Dice and EA, in permanent and negative way.

  • Rosemeadshredder

Anyone else get an email from EA about a survey for Battlefield 4????

    The questions are…

How likely is it that you would recommend Battlefield 4 to a friend or family member who likes those types of games? (Scale of 1-10)

Why did you score us this way? (Fill in)

How likely are you to discourage others from playing Battlefield 4? (Scale of 1-10)

What other games have you played in the last 6 months?

    • zakrocz

I think I can guess the majority of scores 1 and 3 will get.
      1 and 10 :D

  • jj16802

Good, more patches. Though I think I’m going to wait this out until next year to see if the game gets better. That, and I recently got GTA 5. :P

  • Smile

Ever since this patch i get big CPU spikes which drop my frames from a silky smoth 60 down to 40-50
