Halo 4 Playlist Update Introduces Paintball, Energy Sword King of the Hill, Team DLC, and More

343 Industries are injecting a bit of fun into Halo 4 with a recent playlist update that introduces some exciting new game modes.

Plasma Pistol Paintball and some crazy variations on game modes like Capture the Flag and King of the Hill are all a part of this Monday’s playlist update.

On a more straight forward note, Team DLC introduces two weeks of team-based modes, including Slayer, King of the Hill, Extraction, SWAT, Snipers, Ricochet, Regicide, and Oddball variants on some of the game’s more popular DLC maps. Check out the full list below:

  • Skyline
  • Monolith
  • Landfall
  • Daybreak
  • Harvest
  • Vertigo
  • Pitfall

Team Doubles is also getting updated to reflect the community’s vote on a King of the Hill playlist on the following maps:

  • Haven
  • Abandon
  • Simplex
  • The Ark
  • Fallout
  • Pitfall
  • Skyline

Over on the Action Sack playlist is where you’ll find some of this week’s more lively updates, however.

Paintball is a Plasma-Pistol-One-Hit-Kill game mode played on a colorful speedball-inspired map created with the help of Forger “petetheduck”. Here, jump height is reduced and players only have one life per round.

Husky Raid condenses all the Capture-the-Flag action you could want into a single tight space. Teams spawn in with random weapons at their flag that is directly opposite to the enemy’s flag on a single platform. From there, it’s a 4 vs. 4 clash of head-on battles on a single lane in this tug-of-war-style game mode. With the help of “The Fated Fire”, 343 was able to bring this popular, albeit hectic, mode to Halo 4′ matchmaking.

Clang of the Hill, originally designed by “SNIPE 316″, equips players with only an Energy Sword and a Thruster Pack as two teams of 4 battle it out in this King-of-the-Hill game mode.

If you’re looking for a good time this week with some of your pals, now might be a good time to hop on Halo 4 and try out some of these wonky new modes. Which one will you be trying out first?

Back in Reach I was working on making a paintball variant game mode, never finished the map, but it was set up with plasma weapons, will be interesting to play someone else’s idea of it. On a side more this will be my first time playing Halo 4 in probably 6-8 months, haha.

Just booted up ye old 360 and hopped on Action Sack for an hour. Fun level over 9000. Makes me wonder why games like BF4 or COD: Ghosts can’t lighten up and throw in some dumb-fun game modes like these.

I couldn’t agree with you more, gaming isn’t always supposed to be serious! Honestly more games just need to simply allow users to make their own modes/maps, GTA V did the same thing and I played this awesome prison yard brawl, most fun I’ve had just goofing around on a videogame since the old Halo 3 infection days.

Actually, MW3 did have dumb fun game modes added in post launch (Drop Zone, Infected, All or nothing, 18 guns, Face off etc) and it was added in february, so we might see some new game modes in ghosts next month.

Yeah but then they ruined infected (in my opinion) by giving the zombies throwing knives, I know it was so people wouldn’t boost their k/d too high but why not just remove the kill count for infected only? And just let people gain XP.

I would pay anything to go back to the days of Halo 2 and 3 because of stuff like this. We used to come up with all kinds of fun mini games like seeing how far we could ramp a Ghost or making our own American Gladiators style obstacle courses. Most fun I ever had with a video game.
