Battlefield 4 – Second Assault DLC Announcement Incoming, PC Premium Members Get Weapons Early

Rumors of Battlefield 4′s Second Assault expansion pack launching on other platforms late February may ring true after all.

Recently, a DICE developer on Battlelog stated that Battlefield players can expect Second Assault to launch on the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 soon, once the latest batch of patches hit their respective platforms.

“This update is mainly designed to prepare the game for the upcoming release of the expansion pack Battlefield 4 Second Assault. We will announce the release date for this expansion pack later.”

To add to this, it appears that PC Premium players can get a head start by toying around with the new Second Assault weapons; the AS-VAL, DAO-12, F2000, Gol Magnum, and M60, in private servers.

Second Assault is set to bring four fan-favorite Battlefield 3 maps re-imagined in the Frostbite 3 engine, alongside five new weapons for $14.99 USD. Premium members get expansion at no extra charge.

The val can be unlocked on PC by following the assignment 10 minutes in a chopper and 10 squad repairs.
The others all require the second assault maps to be played on to complete an assignment.

Xfactor made videos with 3 of the guns on pc.

You can play with them on a private server.

My guess would be 4th of February. If I remember correctly all DLCs came out on the first Tuesday of the month for bf3

    • Joel Santana

Nah, it’ll be the last Tuesday for premium members. With non-premium members getting it the first Tuesday on March, which was the original rumor.

I want to play second assault so bad. Gulf of Oman sounds awesome with the sand storm.

  • Jamic

Dont care because Im not in a hurry to play the same maps that I have now played for the last 2 years.

    • Katana67

      Good maps > New maps.

With the exception of Metro, the SA maps are good. I’ve been playing Gulf of Oman for the better part of nine years now. Still love it, still have fun with it.

Nevermind that they’ve added to these maps significantly.

BF3 maps were always meh to me. I really would have been fine with only B2K and not buying any other DLC since thats what I played for half of my time in BF3 (~300 hours, those were some pretty damn good maps). Im not too interested about those same BF3 stock maps AGAIN (really, most of the people came straight from BF3…and I spent my other half of the playtime playing stock BF3 maps), Im not even going to buy premium/SA for BF4 until I see the third DLC and if its any good, maybe then. China rising was okay.

  • Warlon

The AS VAL is unlockable by sitting in a squad members helicopter and repairing for 10 min.

  • Tank Buster

I played these maps until I got refunded for my premium, looking back I found myself playing more on other servers anyways, Second Assault just didn’t have that “new feeling” I wanted especially with my new console & game. However, I did like the small tweaks and improvements DICE made to SA maps but these maps lost their luster quickly for me considering the amount of hours I logged in BF3.

I wish that they didnt bring back Metro. The Changes that DICE made to metro, Didnt really work. It still plays the same. That map needs a outside flanking route like Operation Locker.
Knoshar canals, Any of the Aftermath maps (especially Epicenter) Kharg Island, Grand Bazaar. Anyone of those maps, I would’ve preferred to be in SA than Metro.

Both metro and locker are not optimised for 64 player matches. DICE shouldnt allow to have 64 players on them.
