Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a GO on Linux, Says Newell

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is coming to Linux.

We don’t know when, but according to Valve studio head Gabe Newell’s statements in a recent Reddit AMA, a Linux version of the classic shooter is currently in development.

“It’s being worked on but we don’t have an ETA,” said Newell in response to a question about the game coming to Linux.

Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment originally launched Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, an updated version of the original Counter-Strike, on PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in August 2012.

Users are currently enjoying a CS:GO update called Operation Phoenix that offers eight top-voted Operation maps chosen by the community as well as 13 new community-created weapon finishes.

Are you a Linux gamer?

Thanks, Polygon.
