Visceral GM Confirms No Rush In Battlefield Hardline – 9 Maps and 7 Game Modes At Launch

Seven game modes in total will ship with Visceral Games’ Battlefield Hardline when it launches this Spring, five of which are never-before-seen in the Battlefield franchise.

Visceral General Manager Steve Papoutsis confirmed the numbers in a recent interview with Battlefield 4 YouTube personality, JackFrags, where he also stated that nine multiplayer maps will be available on day one.

From previous reports, confirmed game modes thus far are Hotwire, Rescue, Blood Money, Heist, Conquest (Turf Wars), and Team Deathmatch, which leaves one unannounced game mode yet to be revealed.

Fans of the classic Rush game mode, made popular by the Battlefield: Bad Company series, may be disappointed to learn that it will not be a part of that list, unfortunately. Papoutsis confirmed on Twitter earlier this month that Rush will not be returning in Battlefield Hardline.

Thanks to the help of Reddit users Storm_Worm5364 and 3RDRANGER, we’re also starting to build a list of weapons that we’re fairly certain will be playable in Hardline. Here’s what we’ve got so far, in addition to what was seen in the Hardline beta. It is by no means a complete or final list, nor might it be 100% correct, but here it is anyways:

  • M16A3
  • AKM
  • G36C
  • M4
  • FMG-9
  • Vector K10
  • UMP-45
  • AKS-47U
  • P90
  • UZI
  • MP5K
  • MAC-10
  • M240B
  • MG36
  • SR-25 ECC
  • L96A1
  • R700LTR
  • PTR-91
  • Shorty
  • Sawed-Off
  • 870 MCS
  • SAIGA .308
  • G18
  • M93R
  • M1911
  • RS357
  • .38 SNUB
  • 92FS
  • HK45C
  • TEC-9

As we mentioned earlier, Visceral is experimenting with asymmetrical, faction-specific unlocks and is also looking into class balance that resembles that of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Sad to hear Rush won’t be returning? What do you think is Hardline’s fifth unannounced new game mode?

  • NuttyTheSquirrel

To be fair, Heist is similar to Rush.

BTW, Thank you for mentioning me (I’m Storm_Worm5364) xD

    • TI_21

Heist didn’t play like Rush at all…

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

        Of course it did.

You have to plant an explosive to get the objective (money), and the cops have to try and stop you.

In Rush you have to plant an explosive to destroy the objective (probably Intel that the defenders have) and the defenders have to, well, defend the M-COM.

        _______________________________________________________________

The only difference is that in Heist you have to escape with the money and you only have to objectives to get/destroy.
But while the M-COM were placed in a more “hidden” way, in Heist the objectives will probably be in a more open environment. Because, for example, in High Tension the Armoured Trucks get ambushed.

But then again Heist won’t be just robbing Armoured Trucks, it will have Banks with vaults, etc. I think that each map will have different objectives.

        • TI_21

That’s far from being the same as Rush.
The only similarity is that there are 2 objectives to blow up, ONCE, all while the only time that it plays in a similar, but still quite different fashion is when the cops are able to defuse a charge at the start of a round.

On an unrelated matter, IMHO it has the potential to become a very good round based gamemode with a single life. I didn’t enjoy it in the demo much at all.

          • NuttyTheSquirrel

            Read my first comment. Similar.

It is similar. Even better, it’s the other way around. Rush is similar to Heist.

You have the same objective, which is planting the bomb or defending something.

Heist is “Rush small” with the escape scene.

And of course it feels different. But it is essentially very similar.

    • Yevgenij Pekurovskyy

Heist plays more like obliteration, not rush

  • yoav123

no RUSH mode? no HARDLINE for me.

    • DANNYonPC

Hardline has pretty similar modes, so its not much of a problem.

    • jj16802

Heist is pretty much Hardline’s Rush mode.

And I don’t think the police or the criminals will have multiple bases next to each other with sophisticated communications equipment.

      • yoav123

i don’t think heist is a pretty much a police criminal playground

  • DANNYonPC

The list misses the colt r0933 and M249

  • Guest

Ehhh, 7 modes, 9 maps, something is telling me the maps won’t be good

    • ButteredBread

Would you rather they put out 9 maps that they worked on for a long time and perfected them to the best that they could or 12-15 that they worked on in the same span of time that they would have done the 9?

      • Guest

you see, 9 maps for 7 game modes will never be good. 12-15 maps each being tailored and perfected for a specific game mode would be better.

        • ButteredBread

I wrote out a whole response then deleted it about how that would leave someone like me who only plays conquest with around 3 maps to play but my head hurts now just thinking of what trouble I would get myself into by explaining it. Soooooo nevermind.

          • Guest

3 maps that are tailored for conquest, you have 9 maps tailored for 7 modes,

            • ButteredBread

              Huh?….oh man my head!

  • http://conorhealy5D.wordpress.com Pirates

Wow really because less maps is better for the consumer thanks EA you evil corporate bastards! I’m getting this though

    • Alex Melendez

      Lets not do anything hasty.

    • NuttyTheSquirrel

? Battlefield 4 “only” had ten vanilla maps.

And if they are all good maps I’d rather have 9 good maps than 15 bad ones. Worst case scenario of course.

But think of it this way. If Hardline’s maps are all good, or at least 6 of them are, you will be enjoying the game more than hating it.
Not only that but you have a higher change of getting your favourite map in the rotation. While if you have 15 or more maps on the vanilla game you’ll most likely play that map rarely.

      • Oblivion_Lost667

To be fair, the only reason I really think this is okay for recent BF games is because they have so many gamemodes for each map, that tend to play vastly differently. Also, their maps are pretty big, so there’s that too.

        • NuttyTheSquirrel

Yes, a Battlefield map can be 3 CoD maps.
And excelent example is Bandar Desert. Just the city on that map is 10 Nuketowns together.

          • Alex Melendez

damn i want to play bandar desert 64 players, but i dont have a Gaming PC and on xbox its empty :c

  • Mr Frags

Just when I was starting to gain faith, they release THIS?

    No Rush?
    9 Maps?!

    Surely this is a joke.

    • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

BF4 had 10 maps at launch while BF3 had 9, so it’s not really a departure from the norm at all.

I enjoyed Rush too, however, but I’ll give Heist a chance before getting too upset.

      • MeisseN

Heist is like half Rush half CTF, but still not as fun as Rush. Sadly the days when me and my squad mates base jumping in BF3 Damavand Peak Rush will never come back. BF4 Rush is just meh

        • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Oh god that’s one thing I’ll absolutely miss about Rush; those special little moments. Even Metro’s air strike after the first set of MCOMs was pretty spectacular.

    • NuttyTheSquirrel

Is this a troll comment Frags?

Because this comment doesn’t seem like it would come from you :S .

BF3 had 9 maps. And Rush isn’t a most really. It came to Battlefield on BC.
The same can be said about Destruction, but destruction is more important than Rush. (Well, BF2 had destruction, you could blow up a bridge (not entirely) xD)

      • Mr Frags

lol no, I’m just surprised, that’s all. I’ll be fine with nine maps if they’re all fairly decent.

  • KillzoneVII

I’d rather have 9 good maps that 15 bad maps.

    • https://soundcloud.com/ludicysounds Ludicy

Was this supposed to be a bash on cod or do you mean in general.

      • KillzoneVII

No just in general haha, though Ghosts was one of those games that had a lot of maps but they’re all pretty bad IMO. Advanced Warfare and BF: Hardline both look great, and I’ll be getting both of them.

        • NuttyTheSquirrel

          Ye, Ghosts was pretty bad.

When I think about CoD 4, I think about Shipment, Vacant, Pipeline, Crossfire, Crash, Chinatown <3, Wet Work <3, etc.

MW2: Afghan, Highrise, Terminal, Favela, Quarry, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Bailout, Carnival, Salvage and some more.

Black Ops: Pretty much every map. Most of them were amazing.

MW3: Didn't like most of them. Don't even remember the maps, but that one in France wasn't that bad. And Dome wasn't that bad either.

BOII: Had some nice maps, but not as iconic as Black Ops' maps. The obvious ones. Nuketown, Raid, Hijacked and some more from the DLC that were pretty good (don't remember the name, but one of those maps was one where you fight on an island/beach, that one was pretty good).

Ghosts: That one with rails on the middle, snowy map, that one isn't that bad, and Strikezone is acceptable, but most them were really bad.

          • KillzoneVII

Definitely, for me there were always about 3-5 maps in each cod I hated, up until Ghosts, and in ghosts there’s only about 3-5 I actually like. Lmfao

  • Jack Moon

BF3 launched with 9 maps, BF4 launched with 10 maps. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. Surely there will be DLC maps if your willing to pay for it.

  • jj16802

I’ll wait for the game to come out to judge.

I think Obliteration or something like obliteration could be the unannounced game mode.

This is strangely odd! You got Robbers and Cops fighting and dont have a scenario where the Robbers could plant as set of Bombs?

More than Conquest … a Rush mode makes perfect sense in BF:Hardline.

    Who hires these guys?!

    • dpg70

Or the cops taking out hideouts or something. How does it not fit? Lack of creativity I suppose.

      • SamRock

Exactly! And on that note… You could have a totally new Mode.. where Robbers have to switch their bases everytime they get busted.

        Secure and Defend… Fall Back

        😀
