SOE is introducing the Player Studio to PlanetSide 2, a brand new program that will allow gamers to create and sell items in-game.

Initially open to US residents, it will invite “players to download sample geometry, learn how virtual items are constructed, and try designing items,” writes SOE in a recent update. “You can try your hand at writing a creative name, item description, and rationale for how it fits into the ongoing storyline.”

Selected items will be thrown up for sale in the SOE Marketplace with other items created by staff artists and will be priced in SOE’s Station Cash virtual currency. Revenue from sales will be shared back with the player.

PlanetSide is currently a free-to-play title on the PC but is soon coming to the PlayStation 4 as well.
