Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 may not be the number one best-selling game this year, but that doesn’t mean publisher Activision isn’t pleased with this quarter’s financial results.
Being the No. 1 third-party publisher in America and Europe combined for first six months of 2013, Activision saw great success with its No.1 and No. 2 best-selling titles year-to-date – Skylanders Giants and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Black Ops II in particular has outsold all past Call of Duty titles, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Concluding the company’s second quarter 2013 financial results, Acivision announced:
For the quarter, Activision Blizzard was the #1 independent publisher in North America and Europe combined, including accessory packs and figures, with the #1 and #2 best-selling titles year-to-date– Skylanders Giants™ and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.¹ Additionally, Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft® remained the world’s #1 subscription-based MMORPG, ending the quarter with approximately 7.7 million subscribers.²
