Forza Horizon 6 is just around the corner as the title is finally coming out on May 19, 2026. Nearly half a decade after the last game in the franchise, Playground Games is finally returning with the series, which is set to come out next week.

However, the developers mistakenly uploaded the Forza Horizon 6 files through an update, as shown in SteamDB. Most importantly, the developers forgot to encrypt the preload, so many players are already playing the title.

Forza Horizon 6 is finally coming out a week later, and it will be available to play as early access on May 15. What’s surprising is that the developers have mistakenly uploaded the files without encrypting the title’s preload, letting many play it already.

As more players reportedly gain early access to the title, fans should expect leaks about gameplay, cars, customization options, and future content plans. Pirates are also likely to have a field day with the leaked files.

This accidental upload would make it significantly easier for pirated copies of the title to be spread even before the game’s official release.

Usually, when a game is available to preload, players can download the files early, and the files remain encrypted until the release day. But, it seems that Playground Games has uploaded the wrong build, making the game already playable for many.

It remains to be seen how Playground Games will react to it, as the title is already being played by many. Will Microsoft roll out another update to plug this exploit? Players can just choose not to patch their game in order to circumvent it if so.

I write because I love gaming and I’m always chasing the next update, breakdown, or story worth turning into words. It’s basically how I process the chaos I enjoy. In my free time I’m bravely surviving horror games like Dota 2, or switching to actual horror with Resident Evil and indie titles that do their best to ruin my peace.
