Modern Warfare 4 to Offer Two Prestige Paths, Weapon Bloom Removed
Following the official reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision is ready to spill the beans on multiplayer info, even if the publisher isn’t ready to show multiplayer gameplay footage just yet.
In the press release sent to media, it confirmed a lot of things about Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer, and this includes how Prestige works in this year’s iteration.
If you dug the old school way Prestige worked, or the new way, you’re getting a choice this year. Not only that, but the official map count that’ll be available at launch, a new system for attachments and more have been revealed, too.
Modern Warfare 4’s Prestige System Lets Players Choose
According to Activision, Modern Warfare 4 will introduce greater player choice through two Prestige paths: Classic and Regular.
Classic Prestige: delivers the traditional reset experience, relocking Create-a-Class progression in exchange for increased XP earn rates and access to exclusive Prestige rewards
Regular Prestige: allows progression to restart from Level 1 without resetting Create-a-Class content, offering a more flexible path forward while still rewarding continued progression, with its own set of Prestige rewards and progression milestones.
Another major thing confirmed by Activision is that Modern Warfare 4 won’t feature weapon bloom when guns are used in hipfire. For those who aren’t familiar with weapon bloom in games, it’s a mechanic where bullets randomly deviate from the center of your crosshair. It’s meant to simulate the natural inaccuracy of firing a weapon, though it’s something a lot of shooter fans dislike.
According to Activision, removing weapon bloom will make firing shots will translate to the game delivering consistent, predictable, and fair gunplay.
Another thing confirmed is the number of maps players will be able to battle on at launch. There will be 12 all-new core 6v6 maps set in locations around the world, and are ” built to support a range of playstyles from tight close-quarters combat to more open engagements.”
