Black Ops Cold War Update on June 9 Mysteriously Released as Version 1.041/1.42
Activision has silently pushed out a new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update on June 9, and this is available on consoles and PC.
Console gamers will see this as Black Ops Cold War update 1.041/1.42, and this shouldn’t bring any new content.
The file download clocks in at & GB on both PS5 and 3 GB PC, and it seems this patch has caused issues more than anything else.
Black Ops Cold War Receives Update on June 9
Understandably, Activision has not said anything about today’s file download. However, those in the community who have installed it have said that this patch made the experience worse.
One Reddit user noted, “I had an 7.322 gb update on ps5 pro and now it runs like ass. It’s very laggy with sound clipping like static. Is there anyone else with this issue? I’ve only had 2 hctdm matches Moscow (was really bad) and Satellite. I can even hear the static in the lobby rn just sitting on the multiplayer menu. Tf 😞
The only thing I really noticed is connection meter works in the lobby now before the update it remained at zero.”
Another player mentioned how they are now seeing server latency in the game menu, since it wasn’t present pre-patch.
For those interested, the PC Steam version’s patch changes can be seen here, but this is gibberish for most of us. While nothing has been said by Activision, chances are, this patch is for security fixes and possibly adding a banner or two for Modern Warfare 4 since it’s releasing later this year.
If you spot any changes or fixes made, leave a comment and let us know.
Speaking of Black Ops, the first game in the franchise, as well as its sequel, have been uploaded to the PSN Store backend, which means a release is close to being announced.
For those looking forward to Modern Warfare 4, the devs have said that there won’t be any cartoon or celebrity skins in the game, and players can “keep the receipts” that they said that.
