God of War Ragnarok Story Wasn’t Compromised, No Cinematics Changed Because of Pandemic

While the COVID-19 pandemic is still here, it’s safe to say it wasn’t as bad as when it first struck back in 2020. Not only were day-to-day activities affected, but even game development too. For a project as big as God of War Ragnarok, some might think that certain stuff were changed due to the pandemic making things difficult. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case — at least for God of War Ragnarok’s story.

In a new video series showing gamers behind the scenes development of God of War Ragnarok, Santa Monica Studios kicked things off by not only showing us the game being filmed, but also a deeper look at how they shaped the game’s story amid the pandemic. In the video feature, Ariel Angelotti, Senior Producer at Santa Monica Studio, mentioned that the studio avoided compromising the game’s story that they were trying to tell as a result of the pandemic (and the limitations they had to deal with), and that there were no cinematics that changed as well. The studio had the same characters in the final game, though they just had to be a bit creative when they shot the content.

You can watch the entire thing below, and don’t worry, there are no spoilers in it.

God of War Ragnarok’s review embargo lifts this November 3, though media people that have the game early (which includes us here on MP1st), will be able to post a hands-on impressions preview on October 21.

Stay tuned for our review of GOW Ragnarok, as well as more coverage leading up to the game’s release on November 9.
