Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Version Coming in 2023 Without Split-Screen for Xbox Series S

Baldur's Gate 3 DLC

Earlier this month, Larian Studios “hoped” to have an “update” regarding the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox version later this year, but now it seems like things will unfold much quicker. CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, took to Twitter to confirm that he had a meeting with Phil Spencer that has resulted in the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox version coming out sometime this year.

However, there is a catch. Basically, Xbox has revamped its feature parity obligation for Baldur’s Gate 3. It does not require the Xbox Series S version of Baldur’s Gate to launch with split-screen, which was the only technical hurdle stopping Larian from releasing the game on Xbox.

Find the full statement from Vincke below:

Super happy to confirm that after meeting Phil Spencer yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time.

All improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen coop, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.

Xbox might be listening to player feedback and removing its feature parity between the Xbox Series X and S consoles, to allow the developers to make and deliver games more smoothly, on the same date as other platforms.

While the exact release date for BG3 on Xbox Series X|S remains unknown, it’s good to hear that it is still coming this year.
